BTW, I think you had a well-written post

I can't agree with that - he starts out saying he is tired of all the crticism, and then starts in with a whole bunch of his own :confused3

That's not true!

The "criticism" that you feel I posted was written to express the fact that while I don't always agree with the company's decisions, I still make an effort to having a good time at WDW or any other Disney park.

1. Nowadays...most people want something for nothing.
2. Most people don't know how to relax
3. Most people wind up sueing someone over the little things in life
4. They don't believe in wishes and dreams coming true?
5. want something for nothing?
6. they are unhappy, and want others to be unhappy too?

That's true. I work in customer service, and when unhappy, (and that's an understatement for some,) people come in, and want something that I can't do, i.e. it's against store policy, and sometimes the law, they take it way too seriously. Though that is slightly different circumstances.

I beg to differ

- Granted, they're all pretty sore from all the mistakes that occured during the second half of Michael Eisner's tenure

- I agree that he made way too many mistakes

- promoting the wrong people,

- alienating creative partnerships,

- spending money in wrong places

- There are quite a few things about Disney that even I am not happy with

- points of their's that I do agree with

- lack of upkeep at the parks,

- some cast members having attitude problems

- doing lousy jobs

- I even agree that they have made lots of mistakes

and done stupid things

Give me a break, you start a thread that you are tired of all the criticism and your post contains all that. Then you tell people who respond that they are off topic :sad2:

Maybe you should read your post before you hit submit and don't tell me I am not speaking the truth when I back up my words with YOUR words.

and seriously, you accused someone of flaming you when I pretty well think they were agreeing with you :confused3

I just don't understand why Disney gets such a bad rap these days!

Boo-hoo! Everyone has their own opinion. You can have one too. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that Disney does seem to get a lot of bad press! :sad2: unfortunately, being a HUGE company and always in the public eye...the press is looking for it! When millions of people go through those turn styles there are bound to be accidents happening wheather it's Disney's fault or not.
Everyone is entitled to give their own opinions too so we need to learn how to take a little criticism. Helen

I think Disney has been set to an extremely high standard, so high in fact that often times anything that changes is seen with a very critical eye, both here and elsewhere.

I think there are problems with some attractions and these are discussed many times here (Stitch's Great Escape, Mission:Space, Journey into YOUR Imagination, Rocket Rods, the entire DCA park) and clearly there was a cheapening trend mixed with less imagineering talent to go around....yet we still see great attractions like Soarin', Turtle Talk, Expedition Everest, Philharmagic and from what I've seen, practically all of Tokyo DisneySea is some of the best work Disney has ever done.

Although Disney has attempted to be all things to all people, it hasnt always worked. I also do believe that certain higher ups who are no longer with the company thought that they could create anything with a Disney logo and people would buy into it...however I think it's now changed and we are seeing a bit of improvement again.

The downturn seemed to start about 1995 after EuroDisney's troubles, but it has been improving since about 2003, and hopefully will continue with Iger and Lasseter.

Well, I am jaded I think by my experiance ther this past week, but that had nothing to do with Disney, but with ONE woman and her ignorance.
I do think that Disney is wonderfully imaginative and inspired, and the people who worked in the parks as well as the campground I found to be pleasantly courteous and eager to please. On the OTHER hand I managed to find a MOST DISCOURAGINGLY UNPLEASANT woman who screamed at my child, called her ignorant and told me I needed to learn to parent my children all b/c my 7yo dropped ice cream on her child ON ACCIDENT. So...to me, Disney is only as good as the people in it.

I agree. If someone around you is giving off a lot of cranky badness, then they can potentially dent the magic of others around them. Not to mention their own friends/family.

The best advice is to move away, far away, from the source. Then hopefully you can continue to enjoy the vacation that you had planned for.

Every once in a while, we see an adult (or two) lose it. We just move along, move our family along, and hope that the cranky-pants person doesn't rub off on too many other happy folks.

if i remember what i saw last year on christmas day on the travel channel they said WDW is the #1 tourist destination in the world. 25 million alone at MK. my guess 70+ million visitors a year. 70 million people to make happy all of the time. i say this both times i went on disney cruise line. now when it comes to the movies you have 300 million in this country alone. the people want change so dont get mad. i love some of the rides as they are(so rides are 40+ years old) and we love them still. :cheer2:  :woohoo: now lets all remember one thing. you can meet 100 people ina day and the third person you meet was wonderful and the 23 person was a :furious:

Absolutely! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I think that is at the root of a lot of it. I think buyer's remorse needs to be on that list as well. Criticism makes people feel better about the money they spent -- that they can comfortably claim that they spent the money (which perhaps they could barely afford to) expecting a lot more, so it isn't "their fault" that they only got what Disney actually promised.

This is a good point. I participate in a number of online forums, and find that people simply love to take out their frustrations with their life on huge companies. Depending on the day of the week, I see unfounded criticisms of Disney, Delta Airlines, Comcast, Target, Fox Television, Whirlpool, GM, Bank of America, Sears, etc. It has become America's favorite pastime of Joe/Jane Q. Public: Take pot-shots at the big guys, because they've got what s/he wants (typically money). I suppose it makes members of the general public feel better about themselves -- it helps rationalize the bad things these members of the general public do (cutting people off on the highway, abusing restaurant servers, cheating on income taxes, stealing pens from work, etc.).

I can respect that statement; keep an "open mind" for the most part in spite of other things...

What the heck is wrong with the OP? :surfweb:

Since this was supposed to be a reply to another thread and the OP doesn't seem to want differeing opinions, I'm going to close it.
