Why 90 Day Recovery Letters for Cruises?

Are you sure they would ignore the positive test on board even with a certificate of recovery? You can get this strain as often as every 30 days (I personally know several families that have had it multiple times this summer, definitely NOT 90 days apart). I would hope and pray that they quarantine anyone testing positive, regardless of if they had it 2-3 months ago. You can get it again, which means you're spreading it around the ship.

Disney is still using old math from former strains. 90 days recovered means nothing for this virus.
True - but I'd rather have it just in case as it may explain a positive PCR vs. multiple negative antigen tests. Much like trip insurance and passports, it's better to have the document and not need it than to not have it when you do.

They won't test you, unless you request it, if you have a 90 day recovery letter. Our son had covid symptoms, so we took him to the health center for testing. He tested positive. Since my husband and I, not our son, had 90 day recovery letters, they specifically said we didn't need to test. It didn't really matter in our case, since we decided the 3 of us would quarantine together.

Right, but this person mentioned assumingly had symptoms and was therefore tested. They tested positive. It was suggested that had she had her letter of recovery, they would have ignored the positive test. My comment is that I can't imagine they would let a covid positive person free on the ship just because they they had the letter (everyone - including medical staff - know you can have it more than once in 90 days). If that is indeed their policy once onboard, I'd like to know before I get on the ship.

If you had symptoms and went to the health center, my guess is they would test you - letter or not - because it's the responsible thing to do from a medical statement (and unfortunately, the likely diagnosis right now with this strain). Completely understand that cabinmates would be exempt from the testing with a letter (a definite plus!). I'm sorry you all had to spend part of your trip in quarantine and hope he's feeling 100% now.

They give you a choice if you want to be tested. When we called them about our son, we told them his symptoms, and they specifically asked if we wanted him tested. My impression from everyone else on our social media cruise group that tested positive on the cruise was that DCL asked the people if they wanted to be tested. I guess we could have said no, but I have no idea what they would have done then. I am saying that I don't think the testing would occur unless the person specifically asked for it or consented to do it.

Ah, gotcha. Interesting! That's good to know (though hopefully we avoid it!).

How does a doctor determine you are healthy? DH still has a dry cough and he tested negative after 8 days of testing positive (a month ago). . He’s been going to work and doesn’t feel bad, just a constant cough from nasal drip, like an allergy cough.

They basically just base it on questions, ie fever, systems, and days since diagnosis and last symptoms, if you use one of the telehealth places, like MD Anywhere. I have noticed that my husband and son seem to be coughing more too, since getting covid in June and July, respectively. We do have a lot of allergy stuff happening here right now that's affecting me, but I don't seem to have a cough. They are usually not affected as much by allergies as I am, but I also take/do more for mine on a daily basis. I wonder if the body can be more sensitive for a while after getting covid. If you are concerned, he probably should visit a doctor.

Thank you. He’s fine. He can sleep without coughing all night. So it’s not that bad. I finally feel normal. It took a solid month to get over it completely.

We went through all that so that we don't get denied boarding due to a positive test based on an infection from weeks earlier. whether it's effective or not, I now know I won't be denied boarding. One day they will probably stop allowing the option.
