Whose bright idea was this? The sparkly mickey confetti all over the ground at MK?

Note to add an empty medicine bottle to packing list to put the confetti in. My dd5 will stop to pick up anything pretty she see's - could be a rock, a leaf, a sticker, etc. so I know this is going to be irresistable to her.

Nah takes up space just throw some zip lock baggies in your purse! easier to carry and also holds the wet treasures they find!

Mine will bring home anything, LOL

Yeah, sorry OP for the flames 'a flyin around here... I got your witty grumble, and didn't think that you were completely serios, just half hearted, "great one more way for my kid to pick up germs ---sigh" and as far as the other poster about the germs on the rides::scared1: well thanks! if I wasn't a germ-a-phobe before I might be now! note to self: will definately be bringing my mini hand sanitizers and wipes!!!:lmao::rotfl:

Oh, and as my DD used to hand me the confetti to hold, i would just "miss" my pocket or purse:rotfl: and it would end up right back where it came from, she NEVER EVER EVER asked "where's my mickey heads?"

have a magical day!;)
Your welcome! I am not a germaphobe but I do have to block certain things out or I will gag. All the dirty hands on the rides is one thing. Another is what exactly is in the water that is always on the ground while waiting in line for Peter Pan? I don't really want to know but it reminds me of the subway and, well, that water is gross. I also have to pretend that I am the only person eating at the buffets. I would never eat at a buffet at home. I skeeve them. In WDW I pretend it is perfectly clean and all for me.:wizard: On the whole though I don't stress over too much with the germ thing. The kids always get a cold or something while we are at WDW no matter how vigilant we are about handwashing.

We love the Mickey confetti...one of the CMs was nice enough to give my DD(3) a small envelope of it and every once in awhile I give her a little pixie dust to remind her of our upcoming trip (can use it in scrapbooking as well). However, it stopped her from picking it up from the ground. I am not worried about the germs because I would just have her wash her hands and not touch her face until she did so (infection control standards). It was just more about the getting her to stop so we could move on.

I must admit----every trip I gather some myself!! I love it!!!

:rotfl: Oh my goodness this is totally me. :rotfl: You need to try my method, though. I often forget to have my kids wash their hands before meals and they NEVER get sick. My 9 yo has not been to the Dr since his well child check up two years ago and hadn't been for the two years before that either. Same with the youngest. Now, my 13 did have an ear infection, but otehr than that.....the germs seem to be building up their immunity. And for the record, I am going to pretend the H1N1 does not exist when we go to WDW in Jan. Otherwise, I would be stuck in my car!;)

Yes, I really don't get the flaming around here, I thought this was a happy place to talk about Disney--frustrations and all. Here's my beef w/the confetti--now, I think it's really cute, I like it, I love anything they cut in a Mickey shape...but, a cast member once came up to my not-quite-3yo at the time and put a large handful on his head. That's not really appropriate to do to a small child who puts things in his mouth--or to put it close to his mouth so that it might find it's way there somehow during the day. Things like that can be a choking hazard for a small child AND they can do damage to a intestines if they get swallowed. So it's not just about germs. Yeah, it's my responsibility to watch what my kid is picking up off the ground, but when a stranger dumps some on my kid's head, well that's another story.
Feeling your frustration, OP.

Oh give me a break. She wasn't flamed. If you want to see flaming go to a different site. I have been here for awhile and have yet to see a flaming. Also about the confetti on your childs head I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought. It was all in good fun and no I wouldn't be angry of they did that to my 2 year old.

My kids LOVED the Mickey confetti! Especially my then 2yo DS...we were leaving the park one day and a birthday celebration came thru the gate so they did the celebration thing and threw the confetti everywhere. We HAD to stay until my little guy picked it ALL up. Call me a terrible mother I helped him pick it up too because I knew it would be perfect for the scrapbook!:rotfl:

:) I can see where you are coming from, but I think this might be an area where you might just have to relax a tad. After all, her little hands are on all the queue railings, ride seats and handles, doors, and about a billion other things that thousands of other people have touched- and who knows where their hands have been? Not bashing ya, just trying to help you see the bigger picture. IMO, stopping every two feet while chubby little fingers try to scrape the tiny foils from the ground would be the difficult part for me, LOL! Worrying about germs wouldn't even be on my radar. ;)

Unless I'm missing something how could the little tiny pieces of confetti be a choking hazard? Or do damage to the intestines I think that is a real stretch!!! Only way I could imagine those being a hazard would be if you put a child's head in an entire box of confetti and then forcibly breathed in a bunch into the lungs. but choking on a tiny piece of plastic the size of a pea.

I would have enjoyed the thrill in my child's eyes when that fun CM sprinkled some magic on his head.

If it really bothers you to have her picking it up...just say "We leave the pixie dust on the ground so that EVERYONE can enjoy it!" :)

Now why on earth didn't I think of that???? That is great!:thumbsup2

Back home over a week now..no major diseases.;)

Trust me, if you could see my house, you'd all know I am no germaphobe! :rotfl2:

While waiting for a parade, I was talking to CM about the "pixie dust" and he pulls out an envelope from his pocket, asks dd to put out her hand..and poured her a whole handful. She enjoyed that more than the parade...:rotfl:

Kinda like at Christmas when they have more fun with the box and packing than the toy!!!!!!:rotfl2:

No kidding!:rotfl:

Heck, actually, the whole week, all they *really* wanted to do was swim at the pool. Seriously..we weren't at any given park 2 hours when they were asking to go back to the pool. I looked at hubby and said "we could have built a pool in our yard for less than the cost of this Disney trip!"

Oh! and I guess I shouldn't worry about the germs from the pixie dust at the ground since the chlorine in the pools was so darn strong there were no germs left after swimming!

Aaaah, but a pool at home wouldn't have had a volcano, water slide, and view of the castle....

Ok, time for this mama to get back to bed and ready for real life...

That brought back memories - dd first trip we were sprinkled with MAJOR Pixie dust - and were upgraded to the Polynesian - dd really preferred the pool to any wdw attractions - we said the same thing!!

Fast forward to our last trip to the world in '08 - dd birthday dinner was at California Grill - they "dusted the table" - and while waiting for dinner... dh and dd did what came naturally to kids at heart - - -

and yes - I collected the "pixie dust"!! always have a ziplock at the ready!!

DS loved the mickey confetti on our last trip. We collected it from the table at the Wishes dessert buffet and a cast member gave him some to throw at rope drop at MK. I always have a ziploc bag ready to collect it. I even use it in my photo albums! Everytime I open our double stroller, a piece of confetti falls out since DS stashed it all over the stoller!:rotfl2: It just reminds us of our upcoming trips.:goodvibes

The child is almost 3 and they are going to put confetti in their mouth? Really?
