Who's Turn Is It To Throw Up Today? A Feb 2014 Wedding TR - New TR link 10/27!!

I missed an update! Can't believe I did that!!

No worries, I've been moving this one a little faster because I want to have it finished before my October trip.

Catching up.

I don't think I've done COP in a couple of visits. I really need way more time than I allow for WDW. Love the HM pin. It's so cute!

COP is not a must do for me but I usually end up riding it to either get off my feet or waste some time in between FPs. On my solo trip last year it was so cold that I ended up riding COP just to get warm for a few minutes.

Great food porn from BoG. That chocolate cupcake looks divine. Now you've got me craving chocolate.

Thanks for sharing.

The chocolate cupcake is divine! I'm obsessed with it and can't wait to eat one again on a future trip!

Oh, I want so badly to try BOG!!! I do NOT regret grazing the F&W fest for lunch in October, though. That was a Disney bucket list item I got to cross off and it was fantastic! :thumbsup2

I would definitely say you made the right decision in choosing F & W. Lots of great stuff to eat!

Red Velvet Cupcake with STRAWBERRY frosting???? :confused3 Yes, that is indeed weird!

Yeah, that was a little weird especially because the frosting was white and just looked like a butter cream. Guess they were trying to be different for Valentine's Day.

That restaurant just looks so beautiful... your pictures are gorgeous, Ariana! :goodvibes

Thanks, Disney did a wonderful job with BOG.

I'm glad BOG was a success. I don't blame Jocelyn for eating all of the grey stuff, even if she was sick! Bummer about the long wait to meet the Beast. Great pictures :goodvibes

I was glad they liked BOG too. I had hyped it up so much before the trip that I was a little worried it might fall short of expectations. Small spoiler but it wasn't the favorite meal of the trip, that is yet to come up.

Hey there!

you just made my decision on what to eat at BOG that much harder!!!

So far I haven't had anyone I've been with complain about the food. Jim and I had lunch there in May and it was just as good as dinner! Maybe my pickiness is a little lucky since I usually don't have your dilemma. :rotfl2:

everything looked so GOOD!!! But you did sell me on the grey stuff brownie.. YUM!

I actually didn't care for the grey stuff brownie. Jim had it in October and I tried a bite. I thought the brownie was a little dry and the grey stuff didn't have much of a taste. But both he and Jocelyn loved it so it could just be me. :confused3 I don't think I will ever get something other than the chocolate cupcake myself.

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014 we got off to a slow start. Our plan for the day was to split AK and HS so we could catch stuff we missed the first two days.

We had a guest join us for breakfast, Ruthie who is Luvchefmic here on the DIS. I didn’t get any pictures of us together, we were too busy talking. Mom, John and Jocelyn loved her and had a great time chatting while we ate.

We finally made it to AK around 9:30 am. This was an EMH morning so we were actually 1 and 1 /2 hours after rope drop. The main goals for this morning were animal watching and The Flights of Wonder show. First on the agenda was Rafiki’s Planet Watch because the rest of my family had never been out there. As we headed that way though we were distracted by the Kangaroos on Discovery Island. Two of them were having an all-out brawl and we had a blast watching them. I got a pretty good series of photos of the fight.

There were also some very large birds in the same enclosure and they were a little put out by all the ruckus the kangaroos were causing.

Once the fight was over we moved on towards Africa and I snapped pictures as we walked.

We attempted to stop and use the restroom in Africa but the ladies was closed for cleaning. I did do some pin trading while waiting for John and then we moved on towards the train.

I don’t think we waited too long for a train to pull up. I love all the luggage on top of it.

Some pictures from our ride. You can see some of the backstage areas where they keep the animals at night.

Nice update. Love the photos of the fight! That's not something you see every day.

As far as being seated at BOG, I'm not sure if Dan gave them the sob story of having to cancel our earlier BOG ressie due to my being sick or not. There was plenty of seating in that room, cut I don't think they had the staff to service the entire room. That's a shame since so many people want to eat there.

You've got me wondering what the favorite dining experience was….

:scared1: Duking it out Kangaroos Glad I didn't see that So just as well I didn't go with you all that morning  I know it happens but I think you caught a pretty rare photo there I remember back in the "pre-DVC" days when we stayed at AKL Sitting on the balcony and starting the day watching the sunrise and the animals The giraffes would body slam each other That was a sound I will never forget :faint:

( and Hey I liked your family too even though we had very little time together Hopefully next time :goodvibes )

just getting started on reading, can't wait to catch up. looks like such an amazing time

All caught up again.

I love Mickey's Philharmagic...I could see it several times a trip.

Too bad John didn't realize that the Brew was not a BREW!

I can't bring myself to drink in the MK....just doesn't feel right to me personally.

I would go back to BOG just for that chocolate cupcake. We're skipping the restaurant for awhile. We enjoyed all of our meals there (three now), but noticed each one went down a bit in quality.

The pictures of the kangaroos fighting is hysterical. That must of been very entertaining.

Oooh...I'm glad you took everyone to Rafiki's; can't wait to hear all about it.

You know, I still don't think I've seen the Kangaroos. Yikes.

I have to admit, it seems so strange to have a legit attraction like the train actually show backstage areas. It's so unlike Disney. I'm not against it or anything, but it does seem odd.

How cool though to see the Rhinos. I may have to take a jaunt over there again some day.

Working hard at catching up on your TR... Went back a little ways, but probably not as far as I should have. I will try to go back further another day.

Your lzy MK day sounds devine!

I have never done HOP or the river boat... I would like to do both - but not sure if we will have time this coming trip, since we only have 1.5 MK days. We'll see how it goes.

I have also never tried lefrous brew... Not sure if I ever will... I may try sip if someone shares with me some day.

Loved all of your food at BoG! We all had the steak last time - and I loved it. It was my first ever experience with butter as a steak sauce, and I must say - that's how I eat all of my steaks now. Delicious! Although, your mom's salmon looks really tasty too... I wonder if they will let me sub out salmon for the fries? LOL That would be a perfect meal for me... Steak and salmon. ;)

Bummer about not seeing wishes... I don't think I have ever seen it from in front of the castle there's just too many people there for me, and I dislike crowds... We usually watch it from frontier land - even though it's not as good seen from there. Then we head back and ride splash some more, while everyone else is leaving the park. :thumbsup2. Provided the park isn't closed when wishes is over. :)

Will try to catch up on the rest when I have the time. :)

Nice update. Love the photos of the fight! That's not something you see every day.

It was very unusual to even see the Kangaroos out, let along fighting. I've tried to go see them before and they are rarely out. I was told on more than one occasion that they like to sleep all day towards the back of the enclosure.

As far as being seated at BOG, I'm not sure if Dan gave them the sob story of having to cancel our earlier BOG ressie due to my being sick or not. There was plenty of seating in that room, cut I don't think they had the staff to service the entire room. That's a shame since so many people want to eat there.

You would think that with as popular as the restaurant is, they would have all three rooms open for dinner all the time. I wonder too if the staffing in both the dining room and the kitchen is lacking and that's why there are sometimes open seats.

You've got me wondering what the favorite dining experience was….

Well, you'll have to wait a few more updates to find out but I will say that it is a restaurant that usually gets mixed reviews.

Well, it was obvious they were mostly playing but they sure were going at it. Now the giraffes body slamming would definitely be something to see!

( and Hey I liked your family too even though we had very little time together Hopefully next time :goodvibes )

Not too long till Mom and I will be there again!

just getting started on reading, can't wait to catch up. looks like such an amazing time

:welcome: Thanks for joining in, I hope you are enjoying the TR.

:thumbsup2

another awesome update! Kangaroos are so neat!!!

Thanks, it was really neat to see the Kangaroos as they are rarely out.

All caught up again.

I love Mickey's Philharmagic...I could see it several times a trip.

Me too, It's my favorite of the 4D movies.

Too bad John didn't realize that the Brew was not a BREW!

I think that was partly my fault as I mentioned being able to get beer at BOG. I think he just got mixed up.

I can't bring myself to drink in the MK....just doesn't feel right to me personally.

I understand that, it is definitely strange.

I would go back to BOG just for that chocolate cupcake. We're skipping the restaurant for awhile. We enjoyed all of our meals there (three now), but noticed each one went down a bit in quality.

Have you tried lunch yet? Jim and I enjoyed it very much when we were there in May. So much so that I'm picking lunch over dinner for my December trip.

The pictures of the kangaroos fighting is hysterical. That must of been very entertaining.

It was very funny to watch!

Oooh...I'm glad you took everyone to Rafiki's; can't wait to hear all about it.

Coming up soon!

You know, I still don't think I've seen the Kangaroos. Yikes.

They are very hard to spot. I've looked for them several times before this trip and according to the CMs in the area, they sleep a lot in the back of the enclosure where you can't see them. This was the first time I'd seen them out.

I have to admit, it seems so strange to have a legit attraction like the train actually show backstage areas. It's so unlike Disney. I'm not against it or anything, but it does seem odd.

I think it works well for AK though since the whole park is about conservation. It's neat to see what goes on in the day to day care of the animals.

How cool though to see the Rhinos. I may have to take a jaunt over there again some day.

I was cool to see them. I think Rhinos are actually the only animal I've ever seen while riding that train.

Working hard at catching up on your TR... Went back a little ways, but probably not as far as I should have. I will try to go back further another day.

No worries, I know you have been busy.

Your lzy MK day sounds devine!

It was a very nice afternoon after running around like crazy in the morning.

I have never done HOP or the river boat... I would like to do both - but not sure if we will have time this coming trip, since we only have 1.5 MK days. We'll see how it goes.

HOP is not my favorite although I do find it fascinating to watch the animatronic presidents at the end. They tend to fidget a bit while the current president is giving a speech. The river boat was a nice relaxing ride and it was very neat to see scenes hidden on the back side of Tom Sawyer's Island.

I have also never tried lefrous brew... Not sure if I ever will... I may try sip if someone shares with me some day.

I would say share one until you decide if you like it. It is very sweet and I can't get through a whole one myself.

Steak and salmon. ;)

You could always ask but I'm thinking that they would probably say no to both steak and salmon. I still prefer the chicken dish but that's probably just me because chicken is my favorite.

Spoiler alert but I did get to see Wishes later in the week but it wasn't the best circumstances that allowed me to do so.

Will try to catch up on the rest when I have the time. :)

D~

Like I said, no worries, just stop in when you have time.

Before I get to the next installment, I thought I'd tell you about my weekend. Jim and I went to Lego Kidsfest this weekend. Here's a link to the web site if you want to read more about it or see if it's coming to your area.

Lego Kidsfest

This thing was huge, almost 3 acres of Lego fun. While it was mostly geared towards kids, Jim and I had a good time walking around and checking everything out.

There was one section with huge figures all made out of Legos so we spent some time posing with the statues. Apologies for the quality of the pictures. I didn't want to take a bag so I ended up leaving my good camera behind. These were all taken with my phone.

There was tons of merchandise of course:

And lots of different stations to build legos.

There was a whole area dedicated to the Disney Princess Legos and I found Cinderella.

Jim found Wyldstyle from the Lego movie.

And of course we spent some time in the store and Jim purchased three new sets.

He really loves those Architecture sets.

After the Kidsfest, we stopped at our favorite pizza place and I had to have a Grape Kool-Aid Martini. It's made with Blue Raspberry Vodka and Cranberry juice and tastes exactly like grape Kool-Aid.

Sorry but I didn't take any pictures of the pizza.

On Sunday, I ran some errands and since I was at the mall I of course stopped in the Disney store. I found this shirt on the sale rack for $10.

I've been obsessed with these Ink and Paint Vinylmations so two of them came home with me.

I've now opened six boxes in the series and have gotten six different characters. There are only eight in the series, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar and Peg Leg Pete. This time I got:

I now have all of them except Mickey and Donald.

When I showed the final item to Jim he just shook his head. He doesn't understand that I am still 5 years old at heart and can't resist.

Yep, I finally found my Olaf stuffie!

We made it to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and were greeted by Rafiki himself as we walked the path.

There are some cute monkeys along the path and of course we stopped to watch them for a while.

First order of business when we got into the building was a restroom stop since the one in Africa had been closed. There was some very interesting reading on the stall door and of course I took a picture for your viewing pleasure.

Next we spent a lot of time looking for Hidden Mickeys in the mural. There are a TON of them and we found quite a few. I only took pictures of two of them but there were a lot more that we found.

There was a CM out with a baby crocodile (or maybe it was an alligator, I’m not really sure) and we all got a chance to touch him. Pretty hard and bumpy which was what I expected.

We started through the displays of creepy crawlies that they have back there but then I noticed that there was no line for Rafiki so I went to meet him. There was no PP photographer but the CM on duty was kind enough to take some pictures. Rafiki liked my Pluto shirt and bag. The shirt was the one I bought earlier in the week and was a size 2xl. Doesn’t look that big on me does it?

There’s some offices back there to see:

And also a vet’s office. You can sometimes catch them doing procedures here but there was nothing going on while we were there.

Continued from Previous Post

Then comes the creepy crawlies. Snakes, bugs, spiders, etc. My pictures aren’t the best because it was hard taking them through the glass.

Mom, John and Jocelyn had caught me sneaking off to see Rafiki so they decided to meet him too. I stayed back and took the pictures this time since I had already met him.

We headed outside next to play with the animals in the petting zoo. I love how they have a roped off area so the animals can get away from the kids if they want to.

And that is about all there is to do out at RPW. There is also a rainforest booth where you can go in and listen to sounds of the rainforest but my family wasn’t interested. Oh, and they now have Chip and Dale out there too since Camp Mickey is closed but the line was really long so we skipped them and headed out.

Awesome lego pictures! And YAY for the Olaf stuffie!!

Great pictures, I definitely need to plan to visit Rafiki's Planet Watch at some point!

WOW I can't tell you how many times I have been up at RPW and how many photographs I have of the mural Never noticed the hidden Mickey in the ostrich's eye that is really awesome Now :rotfl2: Jim doesn't understand the 5 y/o inside of you ? Seems to me he is right there with you when it comes to Legos and WDW M & Gs I am thinking you are going to need to move to a bigger place when those Lego sets are put together Hi to Jim and the furbabies Truly am hoping to meet up with you & Mom Are your daily plans written somewhere yet & maybe I missed it ?

GOODNESS! that lego fest looks AWESOME! Zack would be there for DAYS!!!
I wish it was coming ANYWHERE near me!!! but sadly it isn't..:worried:

you were a little to close for comfort on the Spiders.. i have a HUGE fear of bugs... and i now have the hibby jibbies..

i hear Rafiki is a great M&G.. i can't wait to do it!!! :hyper:

other then the bugs GREAT UPDATE!

Well, I was only about two months behind!!!!:lmao:

The wedding reception looked awesome! And what a great surprise to have Mickey and Minnie there :thumbsup2

I love your laid back MK afternoon. We are hoping to have a few times like those on our trip! We will be in MK 4 different days so I think we might have a chance. hahahaha

I want to go to Rafiki's, but I'm not sure that we will have time. We are going to AK for a day and a half though cause I think we will really like it!!!

I commented on fb, but legofest looks like a lot of fun. They came to Raleigh but I missed it because I didn't know about it until the day before....oh well

Wow, it always amazes me seeing Lego characters like that.

Haha, I won't lie. I have a slew of stuffed Mickey's on my living room floor. So, yeah, I kinda get the stuffed Olaf.

That Hidden Mickey as the ostrich eye is simply brilliant. OMG!!!

Those Lego replicas are great! And yay for the Olaf plushie!!! :goodvibes

I know Rafiki's Planet Watch isn't exciting, but I like it! Too bad you didn't get to see anything going on in the vet area. And I agree that it was very smart of them to add "safe" areas where the animals could get away from the kids (and some adults! :rotfl2: )

WOW I HAVE MISSED SO MUCH!!

SO sorry!! I’m back on the ball today! Lol.

Glad Jim made it home safe! And yeah…to a Canadian that snow looks like nice balmy day bahaha!!

Looks like an enjoyable morning of classic and awesome rides in MK, and lots of hidden mickeys!! I never really bother looking for that many of them, though I know they’re everywhere, lol!

Cosmic rays is always a good choice for food! I don’t mind the whole “seating you” thing they do, I’m sure it helps with crowds & people snagging tables when they shouldn’t kinda thing.

Yay for people mover!! LOVE that thing! Lol. And hey! That’s me! Lol. Glad we could meet up that day, god that trip was insane like, Steven & I shouldn’t be allowed to have credit cards and the easiness of booking off work that we do! Lol. And it definitely won’t be the last time we see each other either lol!

Love that HM pin!

Great shots from the Liberty Belle, especially love the one of Rapunzel’s tower peeking out! Lol.

Thanks for the tour from the boat! I haven’t been on it in ages! It’s on my to do list though lol

Ahahaha the “brew” dilemma! That’s hilarious! I can’t imagine the amount of people that thought there was actual alcohol in it.

So happy your mom found salmon that she liked!! I’m definitely going to have to try that next time now!! As much as I love the lamb, when I’m not on a ddp it’s a little pricey lol!! Strawberry icing on a red velvet? That’s just WEIRD! I do really wish they had the cupcakes in more places, they’re so good, and the grey stuff cupcake only being at lunch hurts my soul! It’s so much better than the dinner grey stuff dessert!

Ugh…we got stuck in the study the last time we had dinner there and I was SO disappointed!

Ah! You saw us again! How awesome! We were probably headed back to princesses….I honestly don’t really remember the details of that trip lol!

I have NEVER seen the kangaroos in AK!

Nice journey out to the planet watch! I rarely go out there, but with the munks now greeting out there I think I will lol! And as IF that shirt is that big?!? What?!

I WANT TO KEEP THAT PIG! OH MY GOD ITS SO FREAKING CUTE!

And on THAT note…all caught up!!
