Who's the Poster Who Said Mom Switched the Name Tags on the Xmas Presents?

My husband doesn't do that, but he does wrap things in more than one box. The kids know this though, so not all big boxes have big presents inside. Sometimes there is just one more box to unwrap and sometimes multiple boxes inside! But we don't put the wrong names on the boxes, that just seems kind of mean to me.

I addressed all of my kids presents to Phineas, Ferb or Perry this year. They didn't find out until Christmas morning which character name was on their presents. They loved it! We're big P&F fans (and especially Agent P) here.

What a great idea!

I finally talked to my son. I didn't want to bring it up since it was a sore subject. But he definitely thought his sister was going to be opening HIS presents and vice versa. He said, "Just don't do that again next time." Poor guy.

There are definitely alot of great ideas on this thread. I love hearing how everyone handles labeling them. I'll try something different next year.

I only have one child so it's easy over here. I usually wrap all her stocking stuffers in one type of paper (makes it easier for me) and put her one "big" gift in the very bottom of her stocking so she opens it last (and she never remembers this from year to year). (when I say "big", I don't mean size big --- could be something like an iPod or a DS or something like that)

Anyway, this year, she happened to get 2 "big" presents but I only wanted to put one in the stocking and the other on the bottom of her gifts under the tree. Well, my H helped me put the gifts under the tree as I was putting the others in the stocking. I figured he would remember how to do it so I didn't supervise him. Well, he puts her one "big" gift on the TOP of the pile. I didn't even notice until I was filming her and saw her grab that first! Kind of messed it up for everything else to get the most awesome gift first and then get the others. Of course, she loved everything but still.....

Whoops! Well, you win some, you lose some. ;) I got what you intended OP, at least it wasn't one of those disasterous "We're going to WDW" surprises that end up deflated all over the place.

Like ours, we told DS's 6 and 3 we were going to visit their aunt. When we got to FL in the early morning (drive down from PA) we woke them up (first mistake) and told them we weren't going to their aunts we were going to Disney. DS 6 cried and cried and cried!!!! He was SO upset! Turned out that just before we left DH told them they were going to a Lego store. When DS heard we weren't going to the aunts he thought we also weren't going to the Lego store. :upsidedow Certainly will NEVER do something like that again!

OP, sorry to hear your Christmas joke didn't go well. It was a good idea anyway.... (I did see the original thread you are talking about, if you didn't find them yet... no I didn't read all the replies, the thread was http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2609626&highlight=free+fun+christmas

wtrmlnlabs,

What a bummer! I'm so glad everyone is sharing their stressed out Christmas stories with me. When my DS started to cry I felt an immediate sense of regret and like I was worst mom for "ruining" his Christmas morning. I know he got over it and recovered pretty quickly, but it's frustrating when we are expecting those moments of excitement to be wonderful and memorable. Just not in the way we had hoped. That's why all I can do is smile and laugh. :)

Hope the rest of your day turned out well when you got to Disney!

I used symbols this year, so no one knew what was theirs! I also hid the best present and saved it for last.

The best one this year was for my nephew. I had warned him when I wanted the list by. Then that night I told him if I didn't get it he was getting a Zhu zhu pet or my pretty pony. He is 15 by the way. Imagine his surprise when he unwrapped a pretty black and blue zhu zhu on Christmas. He just looked at me and rolled his eyes and said " but I gave you a list!". I told him I'd trade him for his real present but wanted to keep the zhu zhu too! :rotfl2:

I had to explain to the grandparents what was going on. They thought I bought him that because he'd been complaining about wanting a pet :lmao:
