so annoying, everytime i turn on the stinking TV I hear about NewsCorp and mediation and blah blah blah blah blah. Stop being greedy and gimme back my channels that I paid for!

How are you all feeling about this?

If Fox News disappeared from my cable lineup, I'd never notice.

I dont watch fox or my9 that much either, but when I turn on my TV it automatically goes to the channel that broadcasted FOX so its someone talking all about the dispute and its so ANNOYING!

Fiance is flipping, he missed football on sunday, may miss the world series if this doesn't get cleared up.

And the only other shows I could think of on FOX are Glee, Idol, House, and So you think you could dance, but I don't watch them lol.

I was thinking the same thing. I have no idea what channel number it is!

From the little I know, it's FOX that is pulling the classic bait and switch. They have been giving away programming for years to snag viewership and now wants to double (or is it more) what they charge for their channels. Are YOU (the OP) willing to pay double now?

FWIW, Hulu carries all the shows that you mentioned. I have watched Glee on there more than once. Of course, you're out of luck for the sports.

They're blocked if you have Cablevision as your internet provider

ETA
actually it looks like they have unblocked Hulu

I agree!
DS9 was not a happy camper when he couldn't watch the Giants game this past Sunday. DH works at the stadium so he got to see the game but, my son had to listen to it on the radio.

I am just so tired of this :headache: ... first, we lost the Food Network & HGTV  ... then we lost ABC  ... now we lose Fox5 & my9  ... I wish the executives or whomever is behind all this nonsense would just grow the heck up and just come up with a fair solution ... they are acting no better than a bunch of schoolyard bullies - that's how I see it anymore :sad2: ...

The only thing I really watch on Fox5 is Glee & Idol ... I will miss watching the World Series, but only if the Yankees are playing, otherwise it won't really matter to me ... when we lost the Food Network & HGTV, now that's when I really wanted to :sad1: ...

We just learned you can change this!! Go into your remote under your settings and a whole list comes up. I believe it's called the 'Power On' setting and you can set it to 'Last Channel' or any specific channel. I couldn't stand having FOX as my default station.

This whole charade is a disgrace.

Fox is having issues with Dish Network too...
Or Dish is having issues with Fox, depending on how you look at it. Fox wants more money, and I guess Dish would end up passing the extra cost to me if they caved in. If only it were as simple as "gimme back my channels that I paid for!".

First I heard of this. DirecTV must not be having a problem with Fox. Or if they are, I haven't noticed. The only thing I watch on Fox is football, Bones, and the World Series (assuming the Phillies are playing).

That's really the problem: You haven't been paying for those channels (or at least not as much as they're worth). Now, News Corp wants compensation closer to what's fair, and that means the free ride is over. Cablevision is doing their best to try to keep the amount of money News Corp gets from them, and therefore from you, down, but fairness is going to rest somewhere in between the "too little" that they're getting now and the amount that they're asking for. This dispute is a natural reflection of how that fair amount shall be determined.

That's ridiculous. That is not "bait and switch". Bait and switch is advertising one thing, but then when you go to make your purchase that thing is not available so they try to sell you on something else.

This situation is something different: It is charging a promotional rate, and then increasing the price to fair market value once consumers are attracted to the product. It is absolutely legitimate and appropriate, and trying to characterize what they're doing as anything else is without justification.

It is okay to be upset that you don't have access to the channels you want, without trying to make it sound like someone is doing something wrong.
