You are the third person to have been told this exact date! I am betting that this is the "real" date! Did they happen to say if you had to book over the phone or if they would be available for booking online?

I wish discounts for May '13 would also be released !!!

I just won't book a room package until then...............the more rooms that are unbooked, the more likely they will "use discounts" to entice us!!!

then if it starts to get to close to my desired dates, and NO discounts have been released I then go ahead and book at rack rate.

I have a LONG time to wait before I can join you in the planning stage.

This is getting so exciting. I got some more conformation. I went to the Disney site today just to see if the packages are available yet (I can't help but check daily.) and instead of the normal thing that usually pops up this came up with it.

2013 Walt Disney World Resort package and room-only reservations will be available online on July 11, 2012!

Yea I know what you mean. I saw that grey box and thought "Oh well, still not available," but than I noticed that it didn't look the same. Then I recognized the date and decided to read. I am so excited that the end is in sight. (of at least this stage of the journey.)

I didn't but looks like we have that info now!!!! I had called to switch my RO from CBR to CR, I'm gonna keep changing this everyday and she was so nice, I told her we would be calling to switch it to a package when they come out and she said oh July 11th! And I said oh thanks the CM who I talked to last night, was very short and told me a stern no when I asked her about packages (she was not disney nice ) she apologized and said they just found out (I think she was trying to cover for her coworkers rudeness)! But her niceness and help more than made up for the previous CM! I'm just happy we can all start making plans

I never thought of it this way. We will probably make our ADRs when our window becomes available, but we are willing to wait to book in case a deal opens up. We aren't in a huge hurry to book since I'm flexible with where I stay and waiting may be smarter to make sure it's best for our baby

So if the packages come out July 11th but the discounts aren't released until Nov., is it better to:

1) Book the package and change it to room only when the discounts come out in Nov

2) Book room only and apply the discount when they are released in Nov

3) Wait until the discounts are released in Nov and book

If I remember correctly, the May discounts for the past few years have been 25-40% room only, so maybe the whole package thing doesn't matter anyway. UNLESS you can book a package to start then go back to room only once they release the discounts???

That's exactly what I did with our May, 2012 trip. We already had a package booked. When the room discounts came out, I simply called and asked that they apply the % off to our reservation. It was simple and didn't take long to have the reservation modified.

Heck yeah, I'm booking tomorrow! I am not too sure that any offers will come out which will include our travel dates (May 22nd to June 1st) because much of the new Fantasyland will be open by then as will the newly refurbed Test Track. That doesn't mean I won't keep my eyes and ears peeled for something though.

I've checked around 1 a.m. in years past and the rates weren't on the website yet. So, I'd look when I got to work (around 8:00 a.m.) and the packages were there. But, with Disney, you never know.
