Hi everyone,
We were watching a special on the Travel Channel about the VWL, and while they were filming at Whispering Canyon someone had asked for The ketchup. Well I guess we all know what happened. My DW was amused but didn't believe that they do that when you ask for ketchup she thinks it was because they were filming there. I just wanted to get some respones for her that it is for "real". Thanks:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I really wish someone would finally describe what happens for me as the curiousity is killing me! We probably won't be going there any time soone either...maybe someone could PM me so as not to spoil it for others??

Thanks!

We dined at Whispering Canyon in November 2002 with our family, and they don't just make ketchup calls for film! It happened several times during our stay, as well as once for our daughter. I have pictures to prove it!

BF -- I just PM'ed you about the WL ketchup antic.

And YES it does happen in "real life" not just when the Travel Channel is filming. If you've never seen it, go to WCC for a meal and ask for ketchup! It's a hoot!!!

Can someone PM me also? I would love to know what happens.

Thanks
Jodi

Here's what happened when we asked for ketchup. First we yelled really loud - "pass the ketchup" then the servers and other guests all started yelling, "ketchup, who's got the ketchup", then the table that had the ketchup marched over and brought it to us. Now, it's not one bottle of ketcup, mind you - it was about 12 bottles. Just a few minutes later someone else yelled for the ketchup and we had to march over and deliver to their table. It's really cute and lots of fun. My DD loved it.

We ate breakfast there on July 4 and I have proof about the ketchup!

My ds wanted some mustard for his hot dog. I wondered what the reaction would be (since all the threads talk about is the ketchup!) So I said, "Just tell the waiter when he comes back what you need..." Ryan politely asked him, "Can I have some mustard, please?" Next thing ya know, he's got Ryan standing on a chair, rehearsing his "mustard yell" over and over again til he "got it right", ala Sarge ("I can't heeeeaaaaar you!" to which Ryan had to shout "I need the mustard!") By the time Ryan sat back down, we counted over a dozen bottles of mustard and ketchup ("But I didn't ask for ketchup!" he said, to which waiter said, "Well, consider it a bonus!") SOme were the funky colored mustards / ketchups, etc.

Our best moment at WC, however, came a little later when ds was standing up (after delivering ketchup to another table.) Mind you I am CONSTANTLY telling this kid to please be seated -- I feel like I'm dining with a prarie dog sometimes (in chair, out of chair, in chair, out of chair -- keeps popping up!) Waiter comes by and hollers, "We got a loose one here! Get me the rope!" And of course a chorus of "Rope, who's got the rope, we need the rope, lasso that doggie!" goes out. It was a really thick braided nylon rope -- Ryan took it very well and was laughing so hard as the waiter sort of mock-tied him in his seat. Too funny!
