The first hurricane of the year. . . Well isn't that my luck? :faint: Good grief. We don't need anymore unwelcome travelers with us!!! :headache:

Whelp-- Irene---- the good news is that once it's gone it's gone. And seriously no one knows FOR SURE where she will head. She might go left and into the gulf. Shawna needs the rain. Send it her way.

:laughing:

I might have a top ten list!!!!:rotfl2: It won't be pretty with Pictures like yours though.:rotfl:

I wonder how long it will last? I just hope it doesn't mess up our flights. :scared1:

Hopefully it will go in another direction or fizzle out. :wizard:

I'm sure your Top Ten will be great. I'm looking forward to it!! :cool1:

Shelly-

There are a few threads going on about the TS.

This one post shows Irene's projected path if it stays on course as is--

Here's the links for the threads talking about it:

There was another one on the Community Board but it turned into a free for all b/c the OP said his wife would be so upset she would cry. Of course everyone jumped all over that statement.... :rolleyes2

I tell you what- if my trip gets a hurricane blowing right thru the middle of it and I have to sit in my room with three bored kids.... I'm gonna do more than cry.

:laughing:

Thank the lord for CL!!!!! At least we'll have a lobby to go sit in!:rotfl2:

Well I just read all those threads....Seems it's a bit too early to be concerned. But I am anyway!! :scared1: And yes - I will be crying too. Did people really get on that guy for saying that??? :sad2:

At this point I'm really worried about flight delays and cancellations. If we at least make it there safely and then it comes and we only lose a half day or so it will be okay I suppose. But as of now it looks like it could hit when we are scheduled to arrive. :confused:

I live in central Florida. I am trying not to get worked up, because the past has shown that things really can change at the last minute. So there's no point in worrying until the time is closer. I made it through the eye of all 4 hurricanes of 2004, so you'd think I'd be use to it. The news media keeps hyping it up, so I'm trying not to listen to it, because I lost sleep on Friday night worrying about this all.

I started getting clothing ready to pack this afternoon and have been watching movies on tv to stop thinking about it. Pre-ordered the photopass. And removed a Mickey from our countdown calendar. 5 days to go!!

Yep!! We do need the rain!! I would try not to get too upset about it yet... you still have 5 days to see if it shifts or downgrades....remember the year you went and it was soooo windy? Was that in Nov? I couln't remember....maybe you will just get good wind to blow out the humid weather!!;) Wouldn't that be awesome!!!

I had to pick myself up off the floor!!!! Jo ACTUALLY has clothing IN a bag????? :faint:

Here's hoping Irene stays out to sea! pixiedust: If not, I hope she at least stays as a mild tropical storm. We were hit by Tropical Storm Barry on our honeymoon in August 2001 and we made the best of it. We headed out with our ponchos and bought some overpriced but adorable Mickey umbrellas and made the best of it. At least the lines were short! ;)

Jo- 8 days is ridiculous but it could be worse...our school district allows only 5 days per quarter or your child fails that quarter. Absolute nonsense!!!! :headache: When DS was in K he missed 6 days for pneumonia and we had to have a meeting with the principal. I was livid and it was not a pleasant meeting. There was not a nice bone in my body that day. DH said if we go on vacation and our school district threatens to fail a straight A student we'll pull him and homeschool him. It's ridiculous and you're right- it all boils down to the almighty dollar.

Why am I not surprised that you broke 100 pages with this thing?

Shelly - I have been counting the days until your trip (you go on my B-day so it's easy to remember :) )

Sorry about your DH's hernia (yes I'm a bit behind), I hope he's okay. My DH has one that bothers him "sometimes" and has not had surgery - yet.

repacking at this late date, huh? That must have been really hard for you!!! :laughing:

And JO - WOW! Things are getting packed - ALREADY???? Shelly must be rubbing off on you.

Weather - well just hang in there - it's going to change. The forecast of rain will probably be there no matter what those dang storms do. There's always a chance of rain in FL! I do hope for your sake, that there isn't a big washout and you can at least arrive safely.

Don't EVEN get me started on the school absence garbage. We are told officially we can have 5 days unexcused. We pretty much always take them. The first time both girls were in school and we pulled them to go to WDW, I wrote the "official" letter telling them how educational it was going to be, and the teachers just said, oh, I wish I could come too. Have fun. The principal told me 5 days unexcused. (That was all we were missing). After that, I just tell them when we're going and don't worry about it.

PMS and angry going to court? Sounds like most of the women who come to court where I work!! :laughing:

If I missed anything, Sorry - I just can't keep up with you when I have such a crazy work week!!! I'm sure it was all very funny, helpful and informative though!

Shelly try not to worry too much about the hurricane. Living in NC, I have seen more than my fair share of them and I can tell you that most of them turn out to be less impressive than what the weather channel tells you. In fact, I can only remember 2 hurricanes out of MANY that hit here that were really awful. Most of them dump some rain, have a little wind and move on out. I would think it would mess up one day of your trip at the most. Now the airport situation I'm not too sure about.

Speaking of weather.... we have had the worst storms today! For the third time this year, DD and I have had to get into the bathtub because things got so bad that I was afraid we were having a tornado. 3 times in six months!!! :eek: What the heck is going on this year!?! I have NEVER had to crawl into the tub like that until this year. Thankfully we were fine and only had minor wind damage in our yard. It just felt like the roof was going to come off and hail was going to break the windows! I'm so ready for this summer to be over!

MC came home freaking out yesterday saying that the High school changed attendance policies this year so that all absences are just absences-- there's no medical excused or unexcused anymore. And you can't miss more than 8 or you may lose the course credit.
Well, with her block schedule.........:confused: :scared1: :eek: :headache: She's gonna be close. Her Dad said they can suck it-- if they give us grief we'll pull her and send her to a private school.

I mean really? So if a kid gets the flu and misses a week of class, they're gonna fail them?

Dumb.
She is in all AP classes and that's just stupid with her being a responsible A-B student, and honestly, I'm tired of people telling me what I can and can't do with my child that I carried for 9 months AND birthed and financially support.

:scared1:

:lmao:

Drew's school will probably give me grief- who knows. Belle's school- I went last nite and they said that until the last week of Sept it's gonna be all review stuff. So I think she'll be fine.

Let them put me before a court. I'll just make sure I have PMS that day.;)

That's really ridiculous. I am getting worried about what will happen in a few years when I have kids in school. If the school gives me a hard time about pulling my kids for any reason, I'll probably home school. If my child is struggling, then I wouldn't pull them anyways, but I really think it should be my decision, and they should be able to do make up work.

Shelly,you only have
4 Days left!!!!!!:yay::dance3::cheer2::woohoo:
How awesome is that?!!!!
And I agree with RTT...one day should be the only one that's bad..even when we had hurricane Rita..it was only that night and the next day that was bad weather.(it came on shore in the middle of the night here)...now,..ours was massive and we lost power...so we were not here for 2 weeks waiting to get Power restored..but you are not gonna have to deal with any of that with it being a Cat 1,...and with being in Disney. They are not gonna be without power..so you are good!

Jo...

10 DAYS!!!!:yay::yay::cheer2::cheer2::wizard:

we are waiting for your Top 10!!!!! And have you gotten any relief up there from the heat or drought yet? We are stiiiiilll waiting down here--need a major rain and some relief in the heat! It was 85 degrees Fri after 11 o'clock at night!:scared1: I mean really, do we live in the tropical jungle or what? At least if we did, we could count on a daily rain!

Good Morning Jo, Shelly and Everyone Else-

Shelly -

It is only natural to worry about these darn storms especially when they might hit on a day your due to fly in or out. We get our fair share of storms here too but most times they do fizzle out before they get this far north.
Since Irene is so weak fingers are crossed it either goes east or fizzles out before it gets to FL.

On a much happier note

da da da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

4 Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2:

Jo- only 10 days!!!!!!! :dance3:
