Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Good morning! :goodvibes

I can't believe we are going to Disney in TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

We just got back from Jack's vet appointment. He weighs 8 pounds now!! Hard to believe he has doubled in size and then some since we got him.

Okay, so here's what has been going on with us. . . Two weeks ago DH was having some problems so he went to the doctor. They ran a bunch of tests thinking it might be his heart, but his heart is fine. Thank goodness. In the end his doctor decided that he had a hernia. So he sent him to a surgeon. Not knowing how serious it was and how long it would be before they could schedule him for surgery we were left thinking we may have to cancel our trip. He went to the surgeon and he told him that he doesn't have a hernia. :faint: Okay, we were happy but still didn't understand what was going on. About the middle of the following week he started having bad pains again. So he called his doctor who then referred him to yet another surgeon. They couldn't get him in until the following week. Which was yesterday. Well he does in-fact have a hernia. :sad2: And now it's too late to operate before vacation. Not enough recovery time. Plus the surgeon is going to be on vacation the next 2 weeks. So he couldn't get him scheduled until the last week of the month - and of course we will be in WDW then. He said it was fine to wait until then. So he is scheduled for the Friday after we get back. He is still working, as long as he can. His only real restriction is that he can't lift anything over 5 pounds. Not sure how we are going to handle all our luggage. And I'm not sure how many rides he is going to be able to take, but then again he's not a thrill rider anyway!

So that's what we've been dealing with here. Good grief. I hope he doesn't have much pain and is able to enjoy this vacation.

 I think part of my excitement today has been from knowing you'd be able to make the vacation. I'm so thankful you are still able to go-- what an ordeal getting the correct diagnosis. Vacation wouldn't have been the same without being able to see you guys--- Who would Mark race down Main Street?????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hmm....that is interesting. I wonder what it smells like!!

I hope you're right and it's only for a little bit and scattered!!

Thanks Jo!!:banana: Two weeks, can you believe it??? That means 3 weeks until we see each other!!

Yep -- there's always a chance of rain down there. On one of our November trips there was rain forcasted for every day and we did not get a single drop all week!

Yay for three weeks to meet up time!!:goodvibes

There was something about Mtn Dew when you're pregnant. IDK what it was--- it was so good. :goodvibes Of course Drew LOVES Mtn Dew now too. And hates Coke. Hates it. Isn't that weird? That's funny that you only drank them on Fridays. I drank them nonstop. That and orange Gatorade. blech. I couldn't keep anything else down.

Shelly...sorry to hear about your DH!!! Just let your older son help as much as he can with the luggage and tip all the guys at the parking garage to haul it for you...lifting is the WORST thing when you have a hernia!!! It wouldn't be worth it to aggravate it! I am sure he will be able to do most of the stuff at Disney he would normally do....I guess you better bring a big bottle of Ibuprofen or something in case it starts bothering him.
DD woke me up at 7 throwing up this morning...I am exhausted!

I hope your DD is all better this afternoon. Poor thing--- hope it doesn't run thru the house.
Wow, Shelly, 2 weeks!!!!! Today I'll be one of the first to say..........

:jumping1:

I'm so sorry to hear that your DH will have to have surgery. But at least you have answers now, and he's not worrying about what it could be during your trip. Nothing's worse than imagining what might be wrong. And a hernia is something that is fixable with surgery, so it could definitely be worse. Did his doctors give him anything for pain in the meantime, or will Tylenol/Advil be good enough? He should milk this for all it's worth. Porters, bellhops, valets, the whole nine yards. ;) Nothing strenuous for a week! Maybe you could get him an ECV and get to the front of all the lines! Somehow I don't think your DH would go for that. Anyway, I hope he feels great and hardly notices anything during the trip. Thank heavens you don't have to cancel!

Yes, my DS is having a wonderful time in San Francisco. He decided after being there for just a couple of hours that he isn't coming home. I asked him how he came to that decision so quickly and he said that the city was beautiful, his cousin's place was awesome, and the weather was fantastic. (I can understand the weather part. He went from upper 90's and humidity to highs in the 60's) He has a tendency to jump into big ideas, though. ;) Not long ago it was Colorado he wanted to move to. Hey, I could have called him Mt. Drew!!
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thanks Teri! :goodvibes

Yes, we are sure glad to have some answers now. The timing just stinks! :headache: We will definitely be getting as much help with our bags as we can. The doctor didn't want him to have a prescription pain meds because he needs to be able to know what is going on and if the pain gets way worse. He said Ibuprofen is fine.

This may be the most boring trip ever between the heat and DH being down and out!!

Jodi's DH already told DH that he would spring for a scooter for him!

I'm glad your DS is having such a great time in CA! I hope he comes home though!!

I still want to see Mark and your DH popping wheelies on them.:rotfl2:

I love your souvenir pics!!! You got some good stuff thru the years. I hope you get the MM necklace! We can be twinsies!:goodvibes

Hi Shelly and Jodi!:goodvibes
Well, we are back from our quick trip to Cape Cod. It was very nice and we had great weather!
I am all caught up with your PTR!
Shelly- I am so sorry for all that your DH is dealing with.:sad2: Thank goodness it wasn't his heart, but a hernia is a real bummer! Wishing him a speedy recovery!:wizard: On another note- happy 2 weeks! I love all of the pictures of your souvenirs! I love shopping in WDW!:lovestruc
Jo- I hope that everything is going well with you! Bummer that school is starting soon for your kids, but at least you will have more free time to get ready for WDW!

Hi Lauren! So glad you had a nice trip to CC!:goodvibes
The kids going back to school is bittersweet for me-- I remember looking at our countdown and telling them on the last day of school that before we knew it we'd be sending them back and then we'd leave not long after that for WDW. The summer has been so short. I will say that I am looking forward to getting my house in order and my grocery bill going down!:rotfl2:

Oh dear! I hope it doesn't affect your trip too much. Sounds like your boys need to step up!

Yeah, it's a real bummer. I guess I'm going to have to have DS12 start lifting weights between now and then and get pumped up!

I just hope nothing goes wrong when we are on vacation. That would be terrible to have to have emergency surgery so far from home. :scared:
As frustrating as that would be....at least you could have a Dole Whip to help ease the pain!

Yikes Shelly!! I hope everything goes well with DH & his hernia! I'm sure it will all work out OK & at least you still get to go on the trip!

Great souvenir pictures! :thumbsup2

You are getting so close!!! :hyper:

Thanks Shawna. Yes, we are lucky to still be going. Hopefully it will all go well. :wizard:

I know -- we are SO CLOSE!! :cool1:

Shelly - I am sorry to hear about your husband and the hernia. I hope your trip still does go smoothly despite him not feeling 100%.

Very cool souvenirs! Nice collection of snow globes.

Happy 14 days! :thumbsup2

Sea :cool1:

Thanks Sea. :)

Shelly - So sorry to hear about DH and his upcoming hernia surgery. My DH had one years ago but I am sure with all the advances in medicine the op now will go smoothly, just make sure he does not overdue it before then.

My DH had his eye surgery yesterday and all is well, he is already talking about having the other one done. He had the cataracts in both eyes but they only do one at a time. :confused3

On a happier note 14 Days!

I am sure the weather will change a lot between now and when you actually leave. I heard something today about a tropical depression for early next week??? The year we went in late August for my DS's :littleangel: birthday,a hurricane had just passed before we arrived, one street in DHS was blocked off as there was something loose on one of the facades due to the storm but that was it.

Souvenirs are such fun to buy. Can not wait to see what new snowglobe you buy this trip.

I am a little bummed , I have read that Disney has all but discontinued items for pets, worried what if anything I will be able to find for Bella.

Thanks Sheila. Yeah, to the doctor it seems like a hernia surgery is no big deal! :upsidedow So I guess it's a pretty routine surgery these days. Hopefully all will go well between now & then and with the surgery.

I'm so glad things went so well for your DH. :goodvibes

I can check on the pet items if you want! I know a few years back when they closed the pet store in DTD they said they were doing away with all pet items, but I've seen them in several gift shops since then. We are hoping to get Jack a little collar & some bowls!

Can't wait for the scooter race!!:lmao::rotfl2:

It will be here before we know it!! :yay:

Mtn Dew is the only pop DS likes! :rotfl:

I still want to see Mark and your DH popping wheelies on them.:rotfl2:

Me too! :lmao:

I love your souvenir pics!!! You got some good stuff thru the years. I hope you get the MM necklace! We can be twinsies!:goodvibes

Hey maybe I'll have mine by the time you get there and we really can be twinsies!! :yay::yay:

I think I will start my weather stalking every day now.....

Orlando Weather Forecast:

Aug 26 Rain
89° Lo 73°
Aug 27 Rain
90° Lo 74°

Happy weekend everybody!

Shelly, Ithink the weathermen here type in their forecast of High mid 90's, 50% chance of rain on June 1st and then leave town until Sept. 30th. That pretty much sums up our whole summer. I imagine the same could be said about Orlando. Unless some fluke cold front comes through and knocks the temps and humidity down (fingers crossed!) it's probably going to be typical summer Florida weather. Don't worry what the forecast says! You may not even get a drop of rain.

I think that's crazy if Disney has discontinued pet items! The pet industry is a gold mine, and I bet almost everyone who goes to WDW would buy a souvenir for their pet. I don't get that move at all. :confused3 I hope you do find a few things for Jack!

Shawna? :confused3

I know I haven't been around your PTR much so I probably deserve that... ;)

Sorry AMY!! I'm getting old...what can I say?! :rotfl:

:lmao: You're probably right. I'm sure they stick rain in the forecast down there whenever it gets that hot just to cover their behinds in-case it does rain for a few minutes!!

I hope we can find some things for Jack too! :wizard:

Shelly, I am so sorry to hear that about your DH. The timing really couldn't be worse! I will definitely say a prayer for you that all goes well and he is able to enjoy the trip.

I do the weather stalking before my trips too!

Here's some pixie dust for health and good weather! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thanks for your prayers. We sure can use them! Hopefully things will go smoothly.

Shelly - sorry to hear about DH....hopefully he won't be too uncomfortable or in too much pain at Disney. Guess since he won't be able to lug all your shopping bags that you'll have to use the ship to resort feature! :)

Good morning! :goodvibes Where is everyone this morning? It's Monday, get up!! :rotfl: How was the weekend?

I did a little shopping Saturday evening. Got a new shirt and a new swimsuit for the trip! :cool1:

I still can't believe we are going to Disney next week!!

How was this morning with the kids going back to school Jodi?

BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone got on the bus in a nice orderly fashion this morning.

All three in different schools.:headache:
Time for fun to begin!

Let's see--- what all has been happening with us since I was last here?

I got my park tickets! yay!!!:cool1:

Other than that.... nothing???? DH had a Birthday yesterday. He turned 40 and got--- a trip to Disney????:lmao: We went to dinner with friends on Friday nite and the guy said to me "You know so-and-so... when he turned 40 his wife took him to Vegas." I said "oh yeah, well Mark gets to go to Disney."
What? he's going to a UF football game too, so it's not all bad on the guy.:rotfl2:

Shelly--- yay for being in WDW next week!!!! I can't believe it!! :cool1:
And you got a new swimsuit! Whoop whoop!
Not long now and you'll be on the plane.:cloud9:
