Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

I like the idea of doing laundry sometime before you leave. :thumbsup2 Who wants to come home from vacation and wash/dry dirty clothes?! I'll definitely give that a try next trip.

The whole idea of doing laundry on vacation has never appealed to me. Still doesn't really. :rotfl: But with 10 days in the blazing heat I am thinking we are going to go through a ton of clothes. :faint: Hopefully it won't be too bad or take too long.

Shelly -

I use to do laundry when we traveled as a family, it really wasn't that bad unless you hit it when everyone else had the same idea, which only happened to me once that I rememeber.

I think I would vote for DL and the beach too there is so much to see and do in the general LA area, I would have loved to stay longer but as it was the trip cost us a small fortune since we ended up paying for DS:littleangel: and his wife(at the time gf) since neither could affort the trip and the Vegas part was mandatory since DS#1 was getting married. We offered to pay for DS#1 and Ddil to come to DL too but they declined since her family was coming out to Vegas too anyhow I think you will love DL.
Maybe hold off on hawaii until the boys are older and you and hubby can go alone.

I have noticed the weather here in Ct and yours there in Pa have been about the same.

I can see you texting Jo now telling her what a glistening day you are having :rotfl:

Yes, hopefully no one else will be doing laundry when I am. :wizard:

I think it would be very neat to go out to CA and DL. I need to do some more research on the area. And maybe we can get a flight with 1 stop to kind of break it up a bit.

 Yes my text will be something like -- It is hotter than you know where today and I am *glistening* my behind off. Again.

:scared1::rotfl:

Ok you made the trip from Hawaii sound worse than I imagined  I truely think if I were to consider it I would have to fly out to the west coast and do a few days there before continueing onto Hawaii.

When we went to DL we flew to Vegas were there for 4 days then flew to LA early in the morning to head to DL so it wasn't bad at all. It was just the flight coming back having been up all day then flying all night landing in Ct at 6am, I was draging big time and the flight just seemed like it would never end.

Thanks for my banana dude dance! I am excited today about the trip!:goodvibes

Also-- that's a good thread about shipping to your resort- thanks for the link.

I think if you go to Hawaii or DL you have to stay long enough so that you can enjoy your time once your body gets used to it.

Shelly----- maybe if you do DL and the beach you might want to consider going to the beach first? It would give you some downtime to adjust rather than getting up the day after a flight and running thru a park. There are enough differences in DL and WDW that you will want to push yourself to see and do it all in a few days. OTOH, The beach is relaxing---- wake up, get a chair and park yo behind in it all day. You could be relaxed when you get to DL that way.

sigh.

Now I want to go too. Laguna sounds ideal right about now. ::yes::

Sheila,..that was a great thread! thanks for the link!! I have never seen that! I think I am gonna call or look up our local UPS and FedEx places and check into shipping luggage!!!
As far as doing the laundry, we usually come in on a Sat, ...by Thursday (or Wed, depending on what all we have done) we have a slow day scheduled. Mike takes the kids down to the pool, I head to the laundry area and start a few loads...there are usually no people there at that time of day and so I get all the W&D's to myself. Beach club has the best laundry area because the quiet pool is next to the laundry area...the CR is pretty good too, you just have to walk into the next wing of rooms....by the time they are finished swimming I usually have most of it done...they go back and change and then when I get there, we usually head to World Showcase for dinner and just take a slow evening...also, if you plan to do laundry at least halfway thru the trip, you don't have to pack quite so many clothes...

Look who wants to go to Disney!!

Oh my goodness Jack fits so perfectly! How can you not take him! I don't think they'll notice when they scan your bag at airport.

Laundry- We always do a load or two midweek. I buy little packages of travel laundry detergent, dryer sheets and pack a roll of quarters. I love that little travel aisle- the little packages and bottles are too cute to pass up! Plus you know when you're shopping in it that vacation isn't too far away! Usually we hang out at the pool while we do laundry. I love that CBR has the laundry right there poolside!

Shelly that is too cute!

Jo, I shipped a package to myself the year we flew. The shipping cost wasn't bad at all. I addresses it to myself, with my ressie # at the bottom, and mailed it to the Pop address about a week before we left. When we checked in, I just asked for it and there it was! Very easy! I would do it again if I needed to.

Shelly- That picture is so cute! Jack is getting big already!

Thanks! :) I know he is growing so fast. He goes to the vet tomorrow morning so we'll see just what he weighs now. He was under 4 lbs when we got him.
Awe such a cute pic :lovestruc

Thanks! :goodvibes

See.....you want him again now, don't you??? :rotfl:

I was thinking about getting some of those Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets so I wouldn't have to mess with liquids. I need to remember to pack a roll of quarters!

Shelly that is too cute!

Thanks!

Jodi thought I should share this pic too. My favorite part of Jack's day -- nap-time!!

As far as the Mad Tinkler going to WDW--- I'm not sure Pluto would want to be peed on.:rotfl2:

Whelp I just bought the Big Pump SPF15 and the Big pump SPF 30 sunscreen from Arizona Sun. So I now have 100 oz of sunscreen heading my way.

Shelly - there is a TON of stuff to do in the LA area....even a drive to San Diego isn't bad..and between San Diego and LA is LegoLand!!! My mom used to live in San Diego, so we've made many trips out there (I love it there!). Last time we drove up to do DL (just for a day through the give a day/get a day). It's a do-able drive (well, not in one-day). DL is nice - we didn't go into CA. The oddest thing for me was to stand in the middle of this "plaza" and seeing the entrances to both parks! It was weird. Park hopping has a completely different meaning there. DL itself is not as spread out as Magic Kingdom, so it doesn't take any time at all to go between "lands".

It was also weird to stay at a hotel and then walk to the park! :)

I think it would be very neat to experience it. I'm sure it will seem very weird to be able to stand at the entrance to both parks!! And to be able to walk to them from the hotel!

So what's a good hotel within walking distance to DL?

Love those puppy pics!! He IS a smart dog,...he knows what Disney means!! In the pic of him asleep, is that a giant stuffed collie?
I thought all the DL hotels were super close to the parks...kinda like how you walk from the CR? I think the DL park would be an awesome experience..since Walt did hang out there!

Thanks!! Yep, that's a stuffed Sheltie! We've had it since DS12 was 2. Jack loves to chew on it and jump on it!

Yeah, there are a bunch of hotels real close to the parks at DL. I'm just not sure which one is best!!

It would be really neat to walk where Walt walked.::yes::

Okay, you've been chatty!

Happy 6 weeks Jodi!

Cute picture of Jack in the tote bag!!

I've never shipped a box to WDW, but it sure looks easy now!

I've done laundry a couple times. I loved it at AKL when we stayed DVC - no charge!!!

I've flown from MN to Hawaii. We stopped both times. Not bad except coming home stopping in San Francisco in the middle of the night. Odd. Now there's more direct flights from here, and I'd rather do that.

I've also flown to London/Scotland. That was WAY tougher! You fly all night and get there and it's like noon! you have to force yourself to stay awake at least until dinner time to adjust! But I'm going to do it again in March - it's totally worth it!

Rinky - on your Disney Visa offer for 3x - did they put a minimum or any restrictions on it? We've had some where you had to spend like $5000 or it was only for groceries. I just got my statement saying I have a little over $100 in rewards. I wonder if I can use them at Disneyland Paris?

Oh - at Disneyland - I've heard they are all really close. I'd love to stay at the Disneyland hotel ($$$), but we can use DVC points at Grand Californian, so I'm sure that's where we'd stay.

Shelly -

Just like all babies Jack looks like and angel fast asleep.

The Purex sheets is a good idea, I bought them for our trip last year since we would have had a W/D in the villa...no laundry for me this time, if I run out of something I will just buy new. :rotfl:

When we went to DL there was no question of where to stay, it had to the the DisneyLand Hotel, since I had dreamed of going the from the time I was a little girl. The have since refurbished the room and the lighted headboards look amazing and changed the pool area too so I am due to go back there again, I have to work on DH with that one.

Walking to the parks is wonderful one thing about staying in the DL Hotel was in the Lobby they had pictures that were takens of famous people who stayed there as guests of Walt.

Another nice thing that I liked was walking to the parks you passed thru what is their downtown area. You have to walk to the monorail and we did ride it once or twice but after that we just walked to the parks it really is not far at all.
