I know many of us are planning trip to Williamsburg this year. We are taking a Disney break. We haven't been to Busch Gardens in about 7 years & DH really wants to go back. My youngest has never been there. So, we are going July 6 - 12. We are staying at the Days Inn Historic District, anyone been there before? We have 7 days passes to BG & Water Country & 2 days passes to Colonial Williamsburg. We plan to take a nice, slow, lazy vacation. Hopefully by the following year everyone will be ready to return to Disney. :)

So, what are your plans? :teeth:

I'd love to hear about the passes you've bought. We are planning a trip to the area but have no idea what all we are going to do yet.

We booked a pkg through http://www.williamsburgvacations.com/ It seemed so much more convienent to just book a package.

To be honest, at first my heart just wasn't in it. I hated the thought of booking a non-Disney trip, but my kids are so excited that I am starting to get excited too. It will be nice to relax at the water park, ride Alpengeist & stroll through the Colonial Williamsburg shops. We haven't done that in years. There will be no rushing around. I just want to takle it nice & slow. No getting at the parks at opening time, staying until the close, fighting for good seats at the parade & being packed onto buses. I love Disney, with all my heart, but this year things will be different. :teeth:

My BF, her mom and I are hoping to go this fall. We are just doing a long weekend, and want to stay in the Colonial Willamsburg area.

That sounds like fun! My Mom & Sister are going with us. :teeth: We haven't all taken a trip together in a long time.

We're heading down there the first week in April. We're spending a day or so in Gettysburg and then heading down to Colonial Williamsburg for a few more days. We plan on doing Jamestown and Yorktown, too. We might head over to Appomatox on our way home.

My two are 8 and 10 years, and they're really excited, too!

I'm going this weekend...

but then, I'm only 30 minutes away! ;)

I'll be doing a visit to Williamsburg in conjunction with the re-enactment for the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Yorktown. A shame we have to let the Yankees win again. :rolleyes1

We went there last summer, it was soooo hot. The humidity was killing us. ANd I love the heat but it was even too much for me.

We did Busch Gardens in the morning, then back to the hotel pool in the afternoon, then back to Busch Gardens at night. That worked out really well.

At Water country, the wave pool was a lot of fun, but definately Hubba Hubba Highway is the best. Its a lazy river but you wear a life vest instead of a tube. We were in there for hours.

Have fun!!

Our whole family is heading down June 19-22 for little getaway. We love it down there.

We were last there in the summer of 2001. We were very, very unhappy with our hotel (Fort McGruder Radisson), but other than that, we had a great vacation.

I love Das Festhaus--the German food hall. We enjoy the German folk dancing show and are crazy for the German food they sell there. Oh, those lucious desserts! Strudel, Black Forest cake, and seven-layer cakes, yum!

I think that Busch Gardens is a great alternative to WDW for a change of pace. It's well-run, clean, and beautiful.

Have a great trip, Magicalmom! And don't forget to ride the Big Bad Wolf at night. Underneath your feet, you'll see a little German village all lit up. :)
