This is an idea I got from the other threads, asking about when people are gong to Disney. I thought it would be fun to see how many of you are going to be there this Christmas! I'd personally love to meet some fellow Dis'ers- even if just to say :wave2: ! So if you'd like- let us know what your dates at the fort will be.... what type of loop you've requested...... are you bringing your pets....... what type of rig you have...... what will distinguish you from the other campers so we can say hi.......what are you most excited about doing during your stay......who your family will include...... and any other information you want to share!

My family consists of myself, DH, one set of twin boys who will be 11, and one set of twins- a boy and a girl- who will be 8. We are also planning to bring 2 of our smaller dogs, as long as they prove to be quiet peaceful campers! :lmao: Not sure which 2 yet- we have 10! Thought it would make chores easier here at the farm if there were a couple less to take are of!

Our dates at the fort will be arriving Sunday December 22nd, and leaving Friday January 3rd. We are driving our old pace arrow motorhome from northern MN- leaving Thursday the 19th as soon as we can 'dewinterize" the old girl- this consists of clearing all the antifreeze in the lines, as well as a few other things. We'll have to drive far enough the 1st day that we wont' have to worry about temps freezing that night.

We have only been to Disney once- that was this past February. Stayed at the cabins, and fell so in love with it there that we came home and bought an old fixer up motorhome just to go back! I love it so much there that (and I'm not kidding when I say this) my heart actually HURTS sometimes when I think about being there and wishing so much we were there right now. I only wish I was rich and lived closer! ;)

We have rented a 6 seat golf cart from Kenny for our stay- for those interested I emailed them one day- she called me back the next night! The total for Sunday the 22nd thru Friday the 3rd is about 680, in case anyone is thinking of doing that and wondering on pricing. That's for a 6-seater, remember- the 4 seaters might be less, but I'm not sure how much.

After trying for a year, we have convinced my mom to also join us. She's been to Disney many times, but never with young kids! My kids are ecstatic that grandma is coming! She is worried about getting around because she has really bad knees, but we are going to load her scooter up in our motorhome storage, and take good care of her! She's going to ride down with us, stay with us a few nights, then get a motel at maybe AoA for 6 nights as well. Plus my older brother is going to come down for a few days and stay there AND my older twins dad is trying to get his vacation so he can also come down and join us! He's never been there, so it's going to be an exciting time for all of us!

Mostly I am looking forward to "fort time"- seeing Christmas decorations, going on the horse- carriage ride, sitting on the beach watching fireworks, and spending a little private time with my DH, since this time we'll have family there to help entertain our kids! We bought a bunch of Christmas decorations on sale after Christmas, just so we don't stick out like a sore thumb and embarrass the others in our loop, and also so we can be part of the fun of Christmas decorating at the fort! We requested loop 900, and we will be the old pace arrow with a big mickey mouse inflatable snow globe in front. ($20 clearance at Kmart! :cool1:)

Hoping to meet some of you down there!

That is awesome, we, the DW, and 3 DD 18,14 and 6 will be there same time you will be. :yay: We are driving down, (straight through, 1451 miles) from northern Vermont. We will be checking in on Sat. 21 and leaving Sun. 5. We didn't request a specific loop, but are hoping for the 2000. Checked on GC for the time there and just thought it would be better to go out and buy used one, since we will be back for all of March. Will be staying in a nice roomy tent with a white extended cab P/U. If you are over our way stop in and say hi, have some conversation and a drink. We love the Fort. And can't wait to get back.

When it gets closer hopefully we'll get more people on here, and will know who to look for! I am going to bring my laptop and try doing a trip report while we are there, but I've never done that so not sure how good it will be! But I'd LOVE to meet others down there! That is so cool you will be there the same time we will! How long do you think it will take you to make the drive?

To make the drive down, 1451 miles it usually takes us about 23 hours. That is stopping 3 times for fuel and restroom breaks and 1 sit down meal, usually around 2 in the morning in Virginia. I am the only one that drives, :drive: DW usually sleeps 3/4 of the way and the kids watch tv or play on their gaming devices. I will admit I do get tired, but when we reach the Fl. line it is like I just had a full nights rest. Can't wait to get to the Fort. We don't do much the first day there, go to the pool and then to DTD to see what is new. Hope to stay in touch as the year progresses to see what everyone has planned for there visit. This will be our first time at the Fort for Christmas. :santa: Keep in touch and I will do the same. 328 days and counting.

You aren't too much closer than we are! We are 1700 miles out. But now I'm thinking we are wimps! We are planning to leave here about noon Thursday (as soon as we get the motorhome dewinterized) and think we won't get there til Sunday, and that' putting in 12 hour days! How the heck do you get there so quick!! And my husband is a truck driver, so he plans to do all the driving because to him it's what he always does- no big deal. Maybe we'll get there sooner! Maybe I'd better add Saturday to our reservations!

We've only been to Disney once- last February. Stayed at the cabins and fell in love! So this is our first Christmas too! I am so excited! We will definitely stay in touch thru this thread as it gets closer! Are you planning on having a laptop there too?

We come down every year at Christmas, our drive from Ontario is 1450 miles and takes us around 25 hours. We leave on Thursday before 2pm and if the weather is good we get to the fort before noon on Saturday. I can recall only one year where we didn't get there until the Sunday. We also leave for home on Fri Jan 3rd; we usually make it home late Saturday if the weather is good and still have Sunday if needed, I recall at least 2 years where we needed extra time to get home.

Whatever your plans leave extra time just in case

We'll be at FW Dec 21st-Jan 4th--OP, glad I saw your post, because it promted me to go ahead and book a cart with Kenny NOW, since I missed out on renting from him this past December. :)

Serenitygr, I do plan on bringing my laptop along with my wireless internet, (so I don't have to pay the deposit for the forts modem). Couldn't get internet in the 2000 loop when we were there last. I use to drive otr also, but sometimes my job keeps me up for 36 hrs. so I get use to driving long distance. But anyway, stay in touch, and see you in Dec. Snowmedic
