Hi Kris...what a beautiful name you got there!

We are staying at Saratoga Springs...for some crazy reason I keep writing SSS when I mean SSR (I am just to excited about getting down there I guess). Hopefully we have a nice waterview of Downtown Disney. How long are you staying for?

I know it isn't very fun, but I think we are just going to get to MK around 5pm and eat at one of the counter service restaurants or just at the food court at POR. I know it's boring, but I'd hate to miss anything for the price we're paying for it. :rotfl2: DD7 is being Captain Jack Sparrow. I might were a t-shirt, but DH won't do anything remotely fun or silly. I am going crazy planning and replanning our days & nights. I have to start ADR Sunday, and I am changing over and over again.

Hey, has anyone else heard about this 100 ADR's? I read that someone got info that you could make your ADR's on the first day of your 90 days for all of your stay. I guess it starts on July 18th.?. :confused3

I have read that too, and hope it's not true. I start my ADR's on Sunday too, and I am having a heck of a time planning a couple of them, with no hours or EMH schedule yet!!!!!!!!

If you don't want CP or something, I would highly suggest getting counter service at the MK rather than POR. It's so much better to be in the park when the party starts. We went to MVMCP and were held outside the gates for awhile until opening, and it was awful!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wall to wall people and took us forever to get down Main Street.

Well, I hope that the ADR change isn't true. It may be a pain to get up early for a week to do 90 day ADRs, but that really is the only fair way to do it. I would hate to lose a seating at CRT just because someone else is checking in 1 day before me but wants to go to CRT on the same day as I do. For example, lets say I check in on a Sunday and want to do CRT on Tuesday. If someone else checks in on Saturday and wants CRT for Tuesday as well, they could call a day earlier. Plus, how would WDW verify check-in dates for people staying off site? I don't think this is going to happen.

Ding Ding ding!!! Winner winner chicken Dinner!!!
All this would result in is getting up at 7 am 100 days out on successive days instead of 90. Chances are they aren't even going to check up on you.

Suppose they check up on you. Well then you make a dummy ressie for 10 days prior to the former 90 day window, and the real ressie for the day you want it (which is actually now 100 days out instead of 90. Then when they ask Are you on the dining plan (lie... No) Are you staying at a Disney Resort (lie...No) Do you want to make any more ressies... No.... I'm still deciding.
And there's no way to check off site guests. What are they going to do hire a ton more staff just to check up on you. Nightmare.

Edit: Well Disney solved that lil problem. Off site guests aren't included. They have to call at every single day's 90 day window just like before. Swan and Dolphin aren't included nor is shades of green or DTD resorts....They are also saying that cancelling a Disney hotel ressie means they will cancel the ADR's. Ok but that means they'll have to keep a note of which ones were made under the new policy vs which ones were made under the old. I wonder if they'd truly go through all that trouble. and to cancel any and all ressies due to a hotel cancellation is going to run afoul of a ton of people very quickly. Plus, again the problem remains, what do they do about booking extra days on the front end and then merely cancelling the extra days. Again there's a ton of tracking that has to be done to do this effectively.

Assuming they could check up on you and the system operated perfectly. That would mean someone staying september 29-October 8th would have access to October first through the 8th 24 hours prior to the person staying October first through the 8th.

Edit: Looks like that may or may not be the case. Some reports are that not all the slots are open to the new plan and some will be held back to the 90 day window. Nevertheless, Short stays are at a definite disadvantage especially if you plan to arrive on a Monday. Locals that don't need to stay at a hotel plus offsite guests are also at a disadvantage.

Now you've got me thinking that we should just do CP on another night. :confused3 I mean that was part of the problem last year. I think the kids might do better if we didn't have so much "excitement" in one night too. We could do CP on Saturday night and still be home early enough to pack. :sad1: Will I have 94 more days of driving myself  ?

I personally think CP is a great way to start the party. We had a nice leisurely, cool (and dry, it rained while we were in there) dinner, and got out just as the party was starting. We are doing it again this year.

Sorry if you've already posted this but it can be hard to keep track...how many are there of you? How old are the kids? Did you dress up? Before CP? Maybe things will go smoother this year but last year it just didn't seem like we did too much at the party and we rested the day of the party and the younger ones were cranks the next day so I felt like we spent nearly 2 days of our vacation for just a couple of hours at the party. I was honestly going to skip the party til they got older but DS says its what he wants to do most.

Oh last year we met up with an adult friend for dinner. I honestly don't remember if she came to the Poly or if we just met at MK. Then after dinner we met up with another friend of hers from FL who got caught up in traffic. Maybe all that took longer than I remember because I can't quite understand how we ended up just watching the parade after CP and then only really doing party stuff from after the parade to fireworks.

Can't wait to go on our 1st trip "Home" to SSR! Purchased while there last October! Going with husband, son, daughter, mom & dad on Oct. 8-15! Can't wait! Any recommendations for a particular building to stay in at SSR? I've already requested a 2nd floor for viewing purposes, but unsure about a building. Can anyone help out please!

MommyBoo-don't know what kind of car you drive but when we went on a long drive (for us) with the kids last year -3 kids ages 5, 3 1/2, 1 1/2 - in a mini van- I put the older 2 in the 3rd row and I sat next to the youngest in the middle row so that I was right there to keep her occupied and could easily reach the other 2. Good luck ours was only a 4 hour drive and we had to listen to Small World on repeat for an hour :earseek: She's 2 1/2 this summer so thankfully she'll listen to a bit more now. I just went out at lunch and found a bunch of stories on CD for $4.98-Disney of course-Toy Story, Mary Poppins, Tarzan, Incredibles, and Lion King.

Oh-almost forgot...that 2 year would have LOVED Lucky! I have a friend in Jacksonville FL who was thinking about driving down to WDW for her birthday (6/5) to get one last use out of her seasonal passes. When I told her about Lucky she decided she and her 6 year old DD had to go. They saw Lucky several times so they knew where to stand the 2nd time around and her DD got picked for Lucky to sniff. Lucky was "alergic" to her nail polish and sneezed. :rotfl2: She got some great photos!

lovesdumbo - We have a seven passenger Grand Caravan. DH, myself, ds10 and dd8 will take turns sitting next to her. We have a DVD player in the van and we will have some new movies to watch along with old favorites (we all know every word to Stitch - the Movie :rotfl: ). I'm hoping she will sleep some but she does not sleep in the van unless she is absolutely exhausted. That's why I like the state rest stops - there is lots of room to run around.

I think that's great about your friend and her dd! I bet those are fantasic pictures!

Scrappinmom,
Too bad there is not a way for us to identify each other. If you want to PM me we could figure out a way to try to find each other at Donald's.

Mommyboo,
When will you be making your car ride? I went and got a portable DVD player when it was on sale a few months back and then I joined the disney movie club so we have plenty to watch on the drive down. We are going to try to drive it in one stretch by DH and I taking turns. We figure about 20 hours not including stops. We will be out in Oswego this Friday to visit with my aunt who lives there. She is off of Douglas. We are going over to the Woodridge IMAX to see Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with her.

Angela in IL

angwill - We'll be leaving on the 20th and are stopping overnight. DH wants to see some of the attractions on the way down (shades of National Lampoons vacation :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: ). We have family who are staying at our house while we are gone and they are coming on the 19th so I hope the kids can fall asleep that night! Actually, maybe it's better if they don't, then they can sleep for the first several hours of the trip. :teeth: DH and I will be taking turns driving. We have a DVD player in the van, and we'll bring some old and new movies.

I'm on Douglas at least once a week, probably more! Enjoy the movie, my kids can't wait to see it!

WE are going down October 2-8, at POR. It will be me, dh, and our 3 boys. We are doing the Halloween Party on the 2nd, we currently have ressies at LTT for 8:25, but definately going to try for earlier, if not, we will do counter service instead. We have never been to the party. Last time we spent a week in disney was our honeymoon 10 years ago! We can't wait. :cool1:

OK. I tried to read all of the threads from the beginning, but WOW, this is a long thread so I just skimmed them. Seems to be alot of people going in October this year.

I just booked our trip last weekend. :cool1: My son (12) and I will be staying at All Star Sports Oct 22-28. I also just booked our MNSSHP for Oct 25 tonight. We will also have PS or ADR for LTT at 5:10 that night and I get to celebrate my birthday. I'm so excited. This will be our first time in Oct and MNSSHP. :cheer2:

Mommyboo--I'm just north of you and I drive all the time. (I'm scared to death of flying, although I have done it) All I can say is that portable DVD players are the best!! :rotfl2:
