I haven't been on ths dis board for over a week now since I'm unable to access the boards from AOL. I've been on line with AOL tech and the phone for over 13 hrs with no luck and no help. They are unable to help me. Finally today they tell me to try to access through internet explorer which I was able to do. I now have to call them back they said if I can access through internet explorer it's must be I have something wrong with AOL. I've been telling AOL that for a week now. Who else is having this problem? I'm going to call them now. I've missed my dis board.

For 6 months I couldn't access the boards..called over and over again complaining..they kept telling me it was some kind of "routing" problem..that they couldn't do anything unless a LOT of people complained!..so I gave up..2 months ago I had the urge to try the boards again..and lo and behold..I can once again connect..but I know the frustration you are feeling..keep on them..and sooner or later you will get results..even if you have to switch providers..lol!

I can connect with AOL with no problem....with my desktop using broadband...and with my laptop on a dialup both here at home and in WDW.

What version of AOL are the folks with trouble using...maybe that has something to do with it. On my desktop I have AOL 8.0 revision 4129.230 (check for revision in Help/About America Online

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>I'm on AOL 6.0 ... when I downloaded 7.0 it really messed up my connectivity & I found out later that there were problems with XP - why didn't they say that at the beginning! I am really hesitant to even try 8.0.

I have always minimized by AOL window & opened IE to access the web - it's easier - I get multiple windows so I can visit multiple boards, or multiple sites, and I get more on my screen w/o all those AOL headers. (I like AOL - just not for the Internet)

So, even though I'm on AOL, I've never had the problems that so many run into w/AOL.

I can understand the frustration, though, in not having something work, but it's not worth the aggravation to me, so I work around it.

Raises hand! I am having trouble from home. Work has been ok.

Also, for the folks with all the clipart, it takes a really long time to upload a thread b/c of all the pictures and writing.:( I know it is fun to have lots of things in your sig but it really does make a difference for folks who only have a dial up.

Thanks.:)

I am not an AOL user...although I understand your frustration with talking with them. AOL gave out MY HOME PHONE NUMBER on thier block of numbers for people trying to use dial up. It went on for months, my phone was ringing all hours of the day and night. We would call back via caller id and it was some poor person trying to use dial up. 3 months later, after 35 phone calls to everyone we could talk to regarding, AOL says they are unable to correct the problem or remove our number from the list. I guess it was just too technical for them. After 20 years of having the same phone number WE HAD TO CHANGE IT! They admit no fault or no wrong. We could not unplug our phone with Kids away at school, but had not slept through a night without the constant phone calls.

OMGoodness, talk about a nightmare!!!! You poor man, Patrick, I can't imagine that. Yikes!!! Glad you finally were able to correct it, no thanks to AOL.

In realilty, they could have corrected this with the phone company. DH works in communications. Phone companies are a pain to work with, but it CAN be done.

Connecting to the Dis is just one problem of many we have with AOL. Sat we are getting cable, I cant wait. Everytime I'm Dis'ing with my AOL screen minimized a message pops up on the AOL screen asking if I want to stay on. I dont see the message since it is minimized so bam! off I go. Other times Im just kicked off. It is ridiculous they are the most expensive dial up and the have horrible access lines. Rant over---goodbye AOL!!

i have a hard time getting here and i don't even use aol. jenzebelle is having the same problem, and danacara hasn't even been able to get here at all for at least a week. we are all on LANS with windows 2000 and using IE.

Trouble for me too, I have AOL, and can only get on the Dis thru IE. I also am having trouble getting on other sites too.

I called back AOL Tech to advise them I'm able to get to the dis board site thru IE. She said there is nothing more they can do since there is no eror message that comes up it just freezes my computer up. She said the dis board must of change something in the last week that is why I can't access it thru AOl. I think I'm gone to change to another internet provider. Now I just have to fine one that I like. Any suggestions?

I am still having trouble accessing with AOL 8.0! It gets almost there and freezes. I can access with explorer though.
