Who's from Hampton Roads area in VA?

I just moved to Hampton, VA from MS. Like the area but I'm so bored and lonely. Remember when you were a kid and you moved you made friends fairly quickly at school? Or as an adult you made a friend or 2 at your new job? Unfortunately none of those scenarios apply to me. I'm long out of school and and I was able to transfer my job but I work alone. I don't know anyone here except my husband and I love him to death but I need time apart. Help me here disers! Anyone who can help me find things to do in the area by myself or might want to get aquainted in email and maybe go to a movie down the road? (No dates please, I'm happily married and plan to stay that way!) Just want to chit chat with a real human in the same area! Is it just terribly terribly sad that at 40 years old I'm lost as to how to make a friend here?

Hi, Shugar...I'm moving there on TUESDAY! Closing on my house is that morning...I'm praying! Then I'm headed up! Wooooooooooooo hooooooooooo! Single mom with a 10 year old here. I can't wait! But right now I don't have a "home" to go to. Aaaauuugghh! Yesterday my realtor up there e-mailed me and said she will be working "diligently" on it. I hope so!! It's about time! Truck will be loaded with my things tomorrow. Wish I were leaving today, but I guess I REALLY need to sell my home first! LOL! Where in Hampton Roads are you?

I'm in Suffolk, which a lot of people consider way out in the boonies but we're definitely growing fast. Where in Hampton Roads are you at? I definitely understand about the loneliness. When I moved down 10 years ago my husband was working 70 hour weeks and the only people I knew to hang with were my parents...nice but not quite what I had in mind. I work out of my home so most of my friends have ended up being my neighbors. Fortunately I live on a great street with a lot of great people to call friends.

We are in Hampton itself right now, near the Coliseum Mall. In a few weeks we'll be moving just a couple miles away but we'll be in Yorktown then. I really do like it here I just am lonely I guess. Shugadrawers - have you considered getting involved in the community? Maybe doing some volunteer work or joining some local organizations/clubs - based upon something that interests you.

Forgot about this thread the first time i read it. I'm over in Chesapeake. Just moved here after marrying Dh in Oct. and don't know that many ppl around here either. I'm home during the day while he works. If anybody wants to Pm me go right ahead. I'd love to hear from anybody.
