It seems a lot of people are going in Nov/Dec including us. Who's driving and how much are you dreading the drive?!
We are driving from MI and it will take us 2 days. Yuck. We hope to leave very early the first day around 3 or 4 a.m. :earseek: I'm afraid I'll be so excited the night before I won't be able to get any sleep!

We will be driving in Dec from Central IL. We are going to try to drive straight thru and crash with a friend in Tampa for a few days to be able to recoup before going to WDW. A couple of years ago I was the sole driver going to CA in a U-haul, (the passanger was legally blind), and that wasn't so bad. So splitting this drive will not be so bad, at least that is what I am telling myself. I also have plenty of things planned for the kiddos for this trip to make it more enjoyable, a "trip box" full of fun stuff, game boys, and the dvd player, pillows, blankets, and plenty of snacks.

We are also doing the drive in December. We are leaving on a Thursday after DD gets out of work. We expect to arrive Saturday about noon. Dson is in a wheelchair and so we are taking a little longer for the drive to help make him comfortable. We plan to stop the first night in Georgetown Ky,around midnight..The 2nd night we plan to stop in Tifton or Valdosta Ga. We may get there sooner depends on DS, first time we driven with him since he's been in a wheelchair.Dneice will also be driving with twin girls that will turn 1yo the day after we leave disney. When DD and I drive alone we leave at 3am(can't sleep anyway) and stop about Perry Ga. and then arrive noon the next day. This time we have three seperate vechicles going and 2ppl flying. Of course the people flying are leaving(on a saturday)from flint at 7:55am and will arrive about 90 minutes before the rest that have left on Thursday.Susan

I'm feeling a little better about our drive after reading these posts. We have about a 12 hour drive. We plan on doing it in one day.

We're coming in November and coming from Northern New York. It takes us about 21 - 22 hours to get there. We have it all down to a science now. 24 days to go!!!! woo hoo!!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Wow, I think you are brave to go it alone with just you and your DD. Especially with a long drive! I'm sure it will be very special though just you two.
We will be leaving the Sat. after Thanksgiving and will be there until Dec. 4. Hope you have a great time! ;)

My DW hates to fly, ok...she REFUSES to fly... So we drive down.. we are driving from southern KY. it takes us around 11.5 hours to get there.

Everyone have fun and be safe while driving down :flower:

we will be there Dec 11th - 16th. anyone going the same time???

I`ve been searching good fares for friends that are driving down from atlantic city to meet us for thanksgiving week (my family would never drive, we are too spoiled!) Anyway on sidestep.com, I found straight thru flights from A.C. to Orlando for 279.00 round trip and was so excited that the fare went down , thinking they`d be thrilled to opt out of driving with 2 little ones, and they go no nevermind we will drive, it will be fun! OMG................fun to drive 20 hours with 2 under the age of 8, NOT! Different strokes for different folks, personally I think its b/c her husband is cheap and doesnt want to fork out plane fare and also save on a rental car (they are staying at a time share outside of the park)

feeling like a princess already! princess: princess:

Thanks! She has done the trip twice since last September so she knows what to expect. I haven't done it alone, but have no choice so I'm doing it! My sister is flying down for a long weekend so I'll have some company for a few days.

Well, I don't know if I'd call it fun either. DH and I will be traveling with DS 10, DD 8, DD 5, and DD 5. Our trip will take about 24 hrs which we will break up by stopping for the night in Knoxville TN to visit relatives. Fun is about the last thing I am expecting the drive to be. Long drawn out sheer torture is probably more like it. But although we are not cheap, when you have a large family things (like airfare for 6!) can really add up so we do what we have to. At least we are able to go and I'd rather save some money on airfare and car rental and spend it on fancier meals or souveniors or whatever.
As you said, "Different strokes for different folks" But we are not all that different since, driving or not, we will all end up at Disney. Hope everyone has a blast!! :earsboy:

We're driving down from Atlanta. We'll leave at 5am armed with Dunkin' Donuts coffee and we'll be eating lunch with the Mouse.

:dancer:

we are driving down from louisville ky to orlando 850 miles straight through. we have done it 2 other times.

We're driving down from NC. Leaving on a Thurs after work, driving to Savannah & staying the night, then driving into Orlando the next day. It's about an 11 hour drive straight through (which we've done before), but since we scored a Wishes cruise for our first night and have dinner reservations at 6:00, we thought it best to break up the drive so we wouldn't be exhausted when we arrive.

We leave on Friday after T'giving and are driving down from East TN. We are staying in Jacksonville, FL Friday night and driving into Kissimmee on Saturday morning where we are meeting my parents and sister. We will probably either go to some of the Disney outlet stores or to DTD that afternoon. We are staying Sat. night at the Hampton Inn, then check into our Disney resort Sunday. We thought we might have a better chance at getting our room requests after some Thanksgiving guests check out on Sunday. *insert crossed fingers smiley here* ;) :p

We're driving from Chicago in December. We have done it both ways - driving all the way through and stopping over night. It depends on how we feel and how much time we are making (there's two of us and we both drive). We will probably stop overnight as we find we are just too pooped after driving all the way through.

My husband was "scared" of flying until we drove from NJ this September. Don't get me wrong, it can be done, its just a long way! He is now miraculously not at all scared of flying- that drive cured him! The drive down won't be that bad. The way home is a bummer- but you just have to set your mind to it and surrender and you'll be fine! Have a great time!

We always drive. It's only about 5 hours for us, we're leaving Thurs. Dec. 8 at around 4am to meet my SiL and her family who are flying in from Iowa and will arrive around 10am. We wanted to get there at the same time because they've never been before and we want to see their faces when they walk into the WL! Have great trips everyone, maybe we'll see some of you there! 54 more days!

We are taking our time. We are driving from the Chicago suburbs on the night of Tuesday 11/22. We will stay in Tennessee for the night on Wednesday and arrive at DW on Friday morning (DH prefers to drive at night). Problem is, DH is the only driver since we are going down in our motorhome. I'm too chicken to drive it. I'm actually looking forward to the trip - about 19 hours total.

I don't feel so bad about my 10 hr. drive then. It sounds like you all have it
worse. We live in Alabama and also are a family of six so flying is out of the
question. We'll be there Nov. 28-Dec. 5 Our family's first WDW trip.
