Who's buying Mega Millions tickets?

Be sure to sign your tickets on the back as soon as you get them. You wouldn't want to win and then have someone claim as their own.

Illinois lets you buy them online -- it goes into your online account, so no worries here!

But if we stop then the jackpot won't get bigger, and bigger, and bigger and BIGGER!!!! ;)

It's crazy and I bet it ends up higher then $600 million.

I'm telling my DM that if she finds me dead Saturday morning to look for the lottery ticket first before she calls 911! :rotfl: Cause that probably means I won and died from shock. :faint:

That is dh's theory when a winner doesn't come forward for awhile!

Yes, our office has a couple of pools, as well as dh's jobs.

I probably will buy one, but I was thinking about it this morning:

Is it really worth it?

Let's say you are the only winner. The media will be all over you. Everyone will want an interview. You'll constantly get robbed. Heck, TLC will even try to convince you to have your own reality show.

I'd be happier with $5 million and less publicity. I'd end up giving most of it away, anyway. Plus, remember, after taxes it's nowhere hear half a billion.

reddit came up with an idea on how to defeat this...

Dont shower for 10 days... Wear the same clothes the day you won. Walk in and claim your prize... they probably would like you to leave as soon as possible since you stink too much... :P

I bought one because I figured if I'm meant to win, this will be the ticket.
I'm laughing about the heart attacks because for a few seconds today, I thought, "If I win, I might have a nervous breakdown." Then I felt better because I knew that if I did, paying for treatment would not be a problem. :)

I don't plan to make a public announcement or acknowledgement when my numbers hit. I suppose I'll have to tell DH & the kids will figure it out. My soon to be ex-coworkers are gonna HATE me. Unless of course, I keep working. :rotfl2:

FYI.....14. Can a Mega Millions jackpot winner claim the prize anonymously?

Public disclosure laws vary from state to state. Some states require their lotteries to publicly identify winners, while others do not. Check with your Mega Millions state lottery.

Luckily WA allows for trusts. :thumbsup2

I work in a grocery store and EVERYONE is buying them!!! I sold tickets for six straight hours yesterday. THANK GOD I am off today!!!!! If I had to go back into work and sell tickets all day today I would call out. At least everyone waiting in line was pleasant about the wait:)

Someone asked earlier when the drawing is held...it's Friday evening.

If no one wins Friday I may just have to call out for Saturday cause I can't even imagine the lines to buy tickets if the jackpot gets even bigger!!!

We purchased some tickets, although I don't know what my odds are of winning the lottery TWICE..LOL

Yes, if your state allows, DEFINITELY set up a trust and claim anonymously. We did and it was so nice not to be hounded!

Might as well, I found a penny the other day, heads up. I guess that means I'm lucky

1Jackpot, do you mind me asking how much your winnings were when you won? And how long ago did you win? Just curious!

Well, somebody has to be different. Call me crazy, but we have not bought a ticket. While I would love to win just enough money to pay off my mortgage, fully fund my kids' college fund and have a little left for retirement, any more than that would be more headache that I am willing to deal. Honestly, I can already imagine the relatives coming out of the woodwork. I actually like my pretty simple life and that kind of money would be anything but simple. I think it is fun to dream, but the reality does not seem fun to me.

The good news though is that I can't win so one of you still can. LOL

I'll be honest, I haven't read any horror stories about other past big $$$ lottery winners being robbed or facing non-stop harassment. I've read about them blowing their money in a short time.

Considering I'm more likely to call heads correctly twice in a row on coin flips, then call a 6 correctly on the roll of a die, and then be struck by lightning, than I am to win the mega millions grand prize, I think I'll pass.

Awww...:sad1: you fill me with the bitter taste of reality.

I agree, BUT...somebody is going to win, and it might as well be me. For $1, I'm willing to take the shot.
