Who's booking the 4-night cruise Summer 08

Ummm...Really? Thanks for the economics lesson ;) No kidding! If other people are willing to pay these prices that's fine. I personally am not. I may not get the same cruise experience but I may be pleasantly surprised. I'll let you know :) But I have to at least try another cruise line, especially when I am looking at saving $1000's. It will be a different cruise experience and I'm OK with that. Doesn't mean I still won't support Disney. I'm content to go to the parks to experience the magic. DCL can and will continue to up their prices and there of course will always be people who are going to fill up the ships. I just won't be one of them. I was OK with paying for the Disney cruise experience for the 7-day, but not when a 4-day is costing me more than the 7-day did for Feb 2006.

Yeah, I know, duh, sorry my post was really stupid. I was just tired of hearing everyone complain about everything yesterday. I feel the same way you do. I hate having to cruise RCL instead of DCL, but when RCL costs less than half! of DCL I just can't justify it. It makes me really mad and super disappointed that I can't cruise other than peak season.

I'm sorry if I took my frustration out on you, especially since I really do feel the same way you do! :flower3: Forgive me? I've had a rough week! I think I'll go back and delete the old post...

Often, it's false supply and demand. DCL whips everyone into a frenzy with it's failure to release prices until a certain day, all the while making sure it's hyped to the hilt. Then the day comes and everyone books and double books and triple books, then sleeps on it, and realizes they shouldn't pay more for a 7 day or 15 day cruise than their mortgage costs them in a year.

So they cancel, but the booking prices stay high because of the earlier day's frenzy, leaving them with spots to fill.

DCL has done this time and again. That's why FL residents and Cast Members often get such good rates. They've left empty places on their boats by their outrageous pricing structure, which for some reason they feel compelled to offer like an IPO instead of vacation.

I finially figured that out last night after I posted. I'm new to the cruising stuff, so I didn't realize just how insane everything would be and how bad it was in 2005.

So again, please don't hold my previous post against me. I don't know what possessed me to post it in the first place! :sad2:

I too have booked the triple dip. Back to Back cruises.
8/17 - 8/21 4 night
8/21 - 8/24 3 night

We considered booking for a week later - would have been cheaper but I did not want to be flying back on Labor Day weekend.

I'm still astounded that we will be visiting CC three times that week. DCL should just leave us there the whole week. Drop us off on Monday and pick us up on Saturday. ;)

It will be fun onboard as well.

We may book the 5 night on 9/1. It is cheaper than the 4 night the week before.

ski-and-sea - I see I was on the August DD this past year with you. I am definitely looking forward to 3 trips to CC in a week! Hopefully, they will allow us to stay on board in between the 2 cruises.

Ah, the crusin castaways......that was a great cruise. I wrote to DCL telling them how much fun we had. Yeah, some things went wrong and I did mention that to them, too.

Yes, you are allowed to stay on the ship on the turnover day. You just work out with your stateroom host exactly what time you need to be out of the room for a bit so they can do their turnover things.

Wow, does that mean we get two Castaway Club gifts????

Anyone else on the May 25, 2008 Wonder cruise?

We are, I think. Here's my story from yesterday ...

Because I was on hold on the phone for over 2 hours, I decided to attempt to book online. At that time I was able secure SPH 5522, although that was not my first choice. Because I had booked a “dummy” cruise onboard the 5/27/06 Magic, I wanted to still get my onboard credit and 10% discount, so I called DCL in the afternoon. At that time my 1st choice stateroom 5020 was available. The CM cancelled the reservation that I made in the morning & was able to transfer my dummy cruise to the 5/25/08 sailing on the Wonder in SPH 5020. I was ecstatic! She said that my reservation # would remain the same and gave me my new total. She did say that it was showing a hold until 2/4/07 so she put me on hold to straighten that out. She came back and said that everything was fine with the reservation. An hour later, I decided to log on at disneycruise.com to see my reservation. I was shocked when I pulled up the reservation and still saw the 12/01/07 "dummy" cruise booked. I also checked the stateroom inventory and 5020 was available. Shame on me for not going ahead and booking online again!!! I had to leave my computer so I called DCL instead. By the time I got through, 5020 was gone. I am heartbroken! I did ask to speak with a supervisor. He said that he would try to get to the bottom of it and get back with me today but I haven’t heard anything as of yet. He did book me in a category 10 stateroom. I told him that I didn’t feel like I was being booked in the same category that I had booked. I feel that since 5020 was a porthole room, that I should be booked, at DCL’s expense, in a category 8 or higher.

Anyway, sorry for the long story. I hope to be on the 5/25/08 sailing.

Angie
