Who's best for car hire now?

Hi everyone,

Time to go to florida again and we're off at March end.

We need a car for 2 adults and Virgin flying club offer 2 miles for each £ spent. Their economy car is £ 288 ish.

USRAC are cheaper i think but i'm not sure about the inclusive insurance or platinum??

I'm driving one way from MCO to miami airport drop off after 2 weeks.

Any deals out there? Should i wait a while or book now?

Virgin have offer of free upgrades on until end of Jan so book ASAP if you want to use them
USrentacar is same cover as Virgin, they both do the 2 options, All inclusive or Platinum/gold.
Hertz have some deals on but they are offsite(going onsite April ish) wouldn't bother me but it does some.

Also check Dollar.co.uk many of us got a price error last week upto half price but they have corrected it now, some prices were still good this week.
I check all these when looking, any can have best price.

Wayne, I wanted to ask you which rental companies are close to Port Canaveral and let you drop off at MCO? when I am doing quotes I am having trouble in the drop down menus finding Port Canaveral as an option on some sites.

We used Budget booked thru USrentacar, not sure what other options there are. You will be better asking or searching on cruise forum. Budget should have been better, could not fault the drop off and collection its just a few minutes from the ships but car was not what we ordered and it hadn't been cleaned, would give them another chance, maybe an off day.
You need to search 8401 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral, Florida on USrentacar for their location.

Just to butt in myself! Our hire is booked through Dollar, they have a drop off ar Port Canaveral, Google-earthed it, not too far, I think all of the rental companies use courtesy buses to the ships ie no-one in walking distance.

Port Canaveral is in Cape Canaveral and try Cocoa Beach too. We are using Budget to the port and Dollar back to WDW. There also is Avis for one way trips.

Just looked at Budgets site, their hire price includes LDW and SLI - is that all the insurance needed? I want to make sure we're covered properly

Also just looked at Dollar and Avis they are both coming out at nearly $80 for one days rental as opposed to $23 with Budget (unless there are hidden costs on Budgets rentals?).

sometimes you turn up and find that the original price was based on a ridiculously high excess and they then charge you different for covering you at a lower excess. This happened to me here in UK!!

BTW. Just got a quote for £286 for 2 weeks orlando to miami in a full size car. How does that sound to you?
