Who's been to VWL lately? Wondering about construction.

Can anyone give a personal account of how the atmosphere is at VWL with the construction well underway? Is there a lot of noise? Is there a lot of the premises fenced off? I was considering a stay here in May but was thinking back to how unhappy a lot of posts were from folks at Poly during the construction there.

Anyone have pictures they can share? Can you see the new pool yet?

We stayed back in November.... no issues at all. You can see the new pool and the rest of the construction through the hallway windows by the elevators. We were only "effected" by the renovation of the sitting area outside of Roaring Fork. I recommend going! You can't beat the Wilderness Lodge

I have a different opinion. Even a DVC vacation costs mucho money and I want the best experience possible. Half of the main lodge rooms and elevators are closed off, cabins are being built at the waters edge along with a restaurant and new pool. The boulders around the new pool are currently being built and most of the construction areas are blocked off with a fence. I would prefer to wait and visit the resort after construction is completed, grounds are replanted, both pools working, maybe stay in a new room, and eat at the new restaurant.

As can be seen from the last two posts, it's really a personal preference thing and very subjective. We were at VWL a couple of weeks ago and loved it. If you have a room on the bus stop side of VWL, you won't notice the construction at all. If you have a lake view villa, the construction will be right outside your room.

We are booked for a stay in May...so I guess that gives you my answer to your question! :)

The new pool is quite far along...the concrete has been poured for this new zero entry pool. There are a lot of construction pictures on these threads. Here's a shot of the pool from a couple of weeks ago.

And a few of the cabins:

But if you are looking at a May trip, the new food service restaurant will be open, with the pool slated to open during the summer 2017. So what you see will most likely be pretty close to the finished product which will look like this:

Really taking shape....That last picture really reminds me of GCV Alot... It's safe to say that there will be no slide, judging by those pics..Right?

There's not supposed to be. This is a leisure pool. But kind of a glam one.

Hard to say since this is just a rendering. But unless they figure out how to put one in that old rusty water boiler thingy, I'd say no slide. As @_auroraborealis_ indicated, it looks to be a hyped up quiet pool. It is as big as the main pool at WL, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of loungers around it. That's already an issue at the main pool.

I think it's the Oasis Pool on steroids, really.

NOTE: THIS MAY BE OKAY.

My kids are lobbying we stay there for spring break 2018.

Does anyone know if this is going to be the quiet pool? We used to love the Hidden Springs Pool since there were no pool games and dj like at the main pool. Hoping this is still the case here, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were pool games at both pools.

In theory. The announcement doesn't use terms like "leisure pool" or "feature pool," and this pool is more feature-y than most quiet pools, but doesn't seem to have a waterslide like a typical feature pool. It may be a hybrid.

In which case, they might have activities poolside.

We just got back from a stay at WL in a standard view room and I have to say we never heard a thing and construction was just outside. If I opened the balcony door we could hear some construction but once I closed it we didn't hear anything. Here's the view below from our balcony. A word of warning though, when you're dressing in the morning, I would make sure the drapes are shut. I think one of the workers got a bit of an eyeful early one morning. By the way, we also enjoyed the moat! Gave it a nice touch! :)

Views from WL (hotel side) standard view Room 5032:

With the zero entry at this pool, I'm leaning towards yes...Games & activities...:confused3 But one does never know... I'll stay tunedpopcorn::

Oasis at Poly is zero entry, and lacks games or activities. It is smaller, though, and doesn't have the old water tower thing going on.

I am with Bill on this one. I was there for four days for a quick jaunt as I had 100 points to use and could not get any other resort at 7 months out. It was to be a non park relaxing by the pool trip but it was anything but. No sitting on the balcony due to construction and the main pool had construction by Roaring Forks. Try resting with the constant pounding of a hammer. Thumbs down from my point of view. All this for a lot of money. Try another resort until construction is finished. I can't see someone paying $600/night for a 1BR for this experience

I just visited for a look see, and I'm passing on staying there until December. I still love the ambiance of the lodge, but the blocked off areas as you walk around were a turn off for me.

Looks like the cabins in the 2nd photo will have some excellent views of fireworks...

What room number was this? And is this a standard room? Thanks...staying in February and wondering what I should request...thanks!

Thanks everyone for your input and the photos are impressive. The cabins look big - is square footage the same as the poly bungalows? I think I'll just wait until the construction is done. I'm a lover of peace and quiet when back at the resorts, a quiet pool enjoyer for sure. This one does look to be unique. I am a sucker for any new villas or rooms at Disney too. And new DCL ships. At least they keep giving me reasons to keep my membership!

Anyone find it funny that the artist's rendering even includes the look of wet pavement around the pool edge?

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. We were in a standard view room on the 5th floor Room # 5032. I believe all the standard views are in this section. It's just the higher up you are, the better the view. Could see MK fireworks from here just fine. Caught them a couple of times. In my experiences, these were the best standard view rooms on WDW property. Even with the construction!
