OK. So maybe I am a little possesive here. I was visiting the Resorts board when I read a post about WL. The suggestion was that the OP have a view of VWL (while staying at WL). That way they can go out the side door and use the quiet pool and sit on the wrap-around porch in the rocking chairs. My question is this: Are the DVC buildings open to everyone who stays at the hotel (all but OKW and SSR)?

Yes - otherwise you couldn't use their restuarants, gift shops, and the main pool (with the slide) - both VWL and WL are consider part of one building - CRO (or whoever it is called these days) if someone calls in and wants WL but it is filled if they have availability they recommend VWL....

same with BWI and BWV and now probably BC and BCV.

the same hotel information you get is what everyone else gets too - the only difference is the other form with the DVC discounts.

Well anyone can use the restaurants and gift shops regardless where they are staying, matter of fact they encourage you to patronize these businesses, LOL!! But yes, the resorts that are built this way are like sister resorts. They share all the amenities that are available for guests like the pools, health club, Community Hall, transportation, room service, etc.

OK, I think I understand. I wonder how the finances are figured out. I guess I figured my dues paid for the VWL building.

I guess I just fear the day I walk into VWL and the place is over-run with kids like the WL is!!

You are kidding, aren't you? Disney World and Kids. They do go together.

Hey, Muushka, I thought we were about to have a big fight over rocking chairs! I'm always sitting in a rocking chair when I see one. Hope you don't mind I sat in your rocking chairs at VWL and I wasn't a member. However, I took the tour and joined the next day. Those rocking chairs (and the view) made a big difference. Now I hope people have been kind to my rockers in Town Square, and Liberty Square, and Frontierland, and on Tom Sawyer's Island, and in front of the Kitchenware store near HM, and.....

Hey, I thought the rocking chair in front of the Kitchenware store was MINE!!!! DS 7 hate the HM so we sit in our chairs and people watch.

Well, it seems that I have chosen the wrong wording for the post  . I really was kidding about the rocking chair thing, but my question was if DVC buildings were for DVC members only. It was answered. Thank you everyone for pointing out the error of my ways :D .

The sign by the pool indicates that the VWL pool is for the use of guests staying at VWL. VWL ammenties are really for the use of DVC members and guests only, not WL guests. On the other hand VWL owners DO pay dues that subsidize the shared services/ammenities at the WL so we are entitled to use the main hotel pools, boat launch, etc.

And don't forget the rocking chairs on the back porch at VB. We were enjoying them this weekend, sitting in them in the afternoon listning to "Unca Banjo" serenading us (and pretty much only us, it was great!).

Note that this past weekend, VB was pretty much constantly 10 degrees warmer than Orlando (plus there's was Unca Banjo;) )

I realize the OP was kidding about the rocking chairs, but I have a question Johnnie. We all understand the use of the pools, so what amenties are you referring to that would be for the use of VWL members and guests only.

Thank you Sammie, for steering this post in the right direction. That was my question also. I really did think that the DVC buildings were for DVC only. Anyone??

The ammenities I refer to include air conditioning, heating, bathroom supplies, elevators and all the little things. The common areas of the WL (like the iron spike room etc.) including the rocking chairs are maintained with DVC dues money, I bet WL doesn't chip in $$ for anything at VWL. The sturdy branches health club is another, I don't know if WL guests can pay to use those health facilities or not.

While I don't think WL guests are going to go out of their way to use the VWL sitting rooms, etc. I'm know the pool is an issue at times.

I was told by the staff that Sturdy Branches (for a fee) and the quiet pool at VWL were both open to WL guests as well.

I don't think we'll ever know how much DVC pays to subsidize existing resorts. I guess SSR, OKW, HH and VB owners are the only ones who don't have to wonder about that.

one that I can think of is the FREE laundry room. I saw it on the budget board ages ago as a money saving tip. (It didn't sit well with many who read it and posted in response). Disney does seem to encourage resort touring and spending money anywhere on property. I am not sure there is anything else that is exclusive.
