Do you use these? What brand do you like? I can't seem to find a good whole wheat. I have had multi grain that i like. Also, my stomach has been bothering me and I'm seriously thinking of trying living gluten free for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. What gluten free pasta is closest to the real thing?

Ancient Harvest is the gluten free pasta that I usually use. There is another brand that I can't think of right now too. I really don't think it tastes too different from normal pasta, if anything I think it tastes better. You need to make sure that you cook it longer than you would cook a normal pasta.

I have never liked whole wheat pastas.

I do use gluten free pasta (I have a wheat sensitivity), Tinkyada's pastas are the ones I like best.

Tinkiyada is awesome! It's brown rice and I think better than regular pasta. Also, I think it's quinoa brand, they have a really yummy quinoa pasta that we buy alot. It comes in veggie spirals too.

I have been GF for a year now and after so many trials and errors, my absolute favorite brand is SCHAR pastas...t me, it's the closest brand to the real thing and it's really good!

Went to gastro today. He doesn't want me to eliminate wheat yet but thinks it would be good for me to do. He just wants lots of it in my system when they test me for sensitivities and other issues over the next couple weeks. He said even if I test negative I should definitely try it. I am having bouts of extremely painful bloating and gas, pains in my left side and it radiates into my ribs and sometimes my back. Feel awful for an hour or two every day. Then it wipes me out.

Not a pasta but if you're a pizza fan and are going gluten-free I highly recommend Against the Grain frozen pizzas!!! One of the best things I've had since going GF.

I tried a Ancient Harvest quinoa pasta once. It tasted about the same as regular pasta. It had too high of a carb level for me. But, if that's not your concern, you should be fine. It's about as much carbs as regular pasta. Quinoa is gluten free and a complete protein. I use it as a substitute for pasta & rice in dishes.

I have cut out 99% of bread, english muffins, bagels and cereal from my diet. I was eating too much of those. I did not eliminate wheat altogether, but I feel so much better. I started the elimination mid DEC so it's been about 5 months now.
I do eat pasta and we've always used a mix of regular and whole wheat pasta. I buy Barilla brand.
Usually it's the regular that goes in the boiling water first since it takes a minute or 2 longer to cook. Everyone in the family is Ok with a mix.

Hi OP! :wave2: I am not gluten-free, but I am a gourmet/specialty food buyer. Le Veneziane has a fantastic GF line of pastas and other GF foods. I have tried the pastas, and they are really good. You can buy them online.

DH has been GF for the past 15 mo or so and the brand he likes best is Schar. It's actually made in Italy, so I trust that Italians who are GF must demand a good GF pasta.

As far as GF flours go, the best one we can find locally (and reasonably priced) is King Arthur GF flour. I've used it successfully in a 1:1 substitute for regular flour with cookies, though it doesn't always work as a 1:1 substitute in cakes and things.

DH eats cereal as a snack as well as for breakfast. Chex makes several different flavors of GF cereal, and there are GF Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes.

Do you eat alot of dairy? That can make you feel pretty sick too. The majority of people are lactose intolerant and don't even know it. Try eliminating dairy for a month and you will be surprised by the results. And dairy is in everything! You have to really read labels.

Boy oh boy, I second the dairy! I have been on an elimination diet for 21 days and am slowly adding items back in to my diet and recording how I feel. I eliminated gluten, soy, dairy, corn, sugar, peanuts (and one more thing that I can't think of right now). When I have allowed myself to have something off the list, my main culprits that upset my tummy are dairy, and surprisingly, the sugar. I can tell when I've had gluten, but it doesn't upset my stomach nearly as much as the dairy and the sugar do. Also, my skin has never looked better and I attribute that to going dairy-free. OP, I would definitely try eliminating dairy if you are having the stomach issues.
