I know, I know. I read all these threads on the Family Board and Transportation board about how you just CAN'T drive cross country without a DVD player and having done it twice without I guess we just are accustomed to our routine. We watched the one the first night, one during the trip on the way back and I am pretty sure that was it. Might have been one more in there. I actually use the thing more after my kids' gymnastics classes on the way to piano for DD! How silly is that!? I just really like for them to be looking out and seeing the country as we pass through it. When it's dark out, I don't care, but during the day.....we just have such different geography thourought this amazing country and I don't want them to miss it because they are busy watching a video! Listening to story tapes they can still look out the window.
You want to know something really silly?? Someone on another thread told me that I should really be reading to my kids so they hear the sound of Mommy's voice. Two things here--have you ever tried reading loud enough so the kids in the back of a minivan hear you? Not cool! And second, that would destroy the whole point of a story tape which is to give me a break, thank you very much!
