Tom Hanks is a great actor, but I had hoped for some eye candy in this movie.

I've never heard of either, and I believe the fact that comparatively few people know them would have hurt their chances of being considered for the role.I think Audrey Tautou is perfect as Sophie Neveu though.

I totally agree with Audrey Tautou (loved Amelie)
Someone mentioned Sean Bean and that would be an interesting choice too. So many to choose from, I just cant get my head around Hanks...don't know why.
mcnuss said:I had in mind someone kind of nerdy good-looking, but not a swooner and definitely not Tom Hanks. Even though I love him, he's just not right for the role. In the previews I saw on Letterman, he was making these goofy faces during the car chase, and that hair is just god-awful.
I agree with you 1,000%!Apothecary said:I, for one, love the casting of Tom Hanks as Langdon. He is a fantastic actor, and I think will pull it off. I remember when the first Batman movie cam out and people freaked over Michael Keaton being cast as Batman...I liked the idea then too and I still think of him as the best of the Tim Burton Batmen.
Jean Reno is PERFECT for the role of Bezu Fache, and I have to admit, he is who I pictured in that role as I read the book. Audrey Tautou is well cast also.
