Who will be watching Emily Maynard the Bachelorette? No Spoilers PLEASE

....which really shows Chris' immaturity....the way that I took it was that Doug didn't even want to get into it with Chris and kept himself composed, whereas Chris kinda went off the handle a bit.....:confused3

That's how I took it too. I thought Doug stayed calm & composed during that conversation. Chris was the one harping over it.

And the thing with Doug and his meltdown over his date with Emily. He admitted to the guys that he was nervous about it, and they jumped all over him teasing him unmercifully. Honestly, if that were me, I probably would have just stormed out, and all the viewers watching would have labeled me with anger management problems, lol. I don't understand why the guys were picking on him about his anxiety over the date - give him a break. The guy's nervous and he was honest enough to admit it. I thought he handled himself pretty well during that whole thing. A lot better than I would have!

Doug seems very tempermental to me. The one time someone (Chris?) said something about him making a sacrifice by leaving his son, he flipped out. And then the guys were teasing him about something else, I can't remember what it was now, and he got all mad. He seems like a loose cannon to me. Also I didn't like the way he wanted Emily to kiss him.

I 100% agree. I'd feel like I was walking on eggshells if I were around him. The guys were just being well guys when they teased him. And he took it so badly. He should've just brushed it off but he acted defensive, you know kind of like what he accused Chris of doing when Chris confronted him...

ITA. I think Jef would make a great next Bachelor. As you said, he is fresh and soemthing different. The audience has long since stopped buying into the idea that the couple left standing will end up married. Why not give this younger type of person a shot?

Jef seems very genuine to me. He's not going to agree to something unless he believes it. I really like him and think he has a level of maturity far beyond his years. I just don't see him with Emily.

If Emily doesn't pick him, I'd love to see him as the next one! He does seem pretty mature and if it weren't for his babyface, I'd think he was older. I can see him with Emily though. He's very different from the other guys in the house.

Oh maybe you are right. I think it was the confrontation between Doug and Chris I am thinking of, and Chris was the idiot in that particular argument. I guess it was Kalon who said something to Doug about his kid. Whatever he said though I didn't think it was that bad, certainly not bad enough to get into some big argument about.

It was Doug though that had the mini meltdown when the guys were teasing him right? When Emily just appeared at the door, right as they were getting into it and one of the other guys said he thought Doug was going to hit him? Or was that Chris too? I can't even remember now.

Yes, Chris confronted him about his condescending demeanor regarding his age. Again, I think Chris had a valid point but should've handled it off camera. And there may have been more to that conversation that we didn't get to see due to the editing.

Those are my top 3 too, in that order. Although I do like John "Wolf" too, in that I think he is really nice looking. We haven't seen enough of him yet though to know if he is a nutter or not. On this show God knows that is highly possible.

Wolf seems pretty genuine though I can't stop thinking of him as "loser" because of what someone here said..."my friends call me wolf but you can call me loser".:rotfl2:

You're right. I just went back to take a look, Elinor mentioned it was Doug who was condescending/threatening to Chris about his age:

So that makes THREE examples where he has meltdowns on different people. I thought it might have been just at Kalon after all, but no. He's just an angry guy.

Yup, it was Doug. He's seriously a lit fuse waiting to go off. Just like Brad. If I were Emily, I'd run like my pants were on fire!:firefight

You're right, that's 3 examples! Yikes. He's that typical angry guy who's all "I'm such a nice guy, I don't have anger problems, I DON'T HAVE ANGER PROBLEMS!!!!:scared:

Kalon said something like "Wow, you are putting your life with your kid on hold to be here on the show?" And Doug went off on him, about how he is NOT putting his life on hold.

Then last week(?) I heard Doug say that himself, that he put his life on hold to stay on the show. I guess he can say it, but not someone else.

I didn't catch that he said it to himself. How ironic! I thought it was quite telling that he jumped all over Kalon so quickly when he made that comment about putting his life on hold. Doug twisted it around and took it to mean that he meant he wasn't being a dad since he was on the show. Or something equally moronic.

....which really shows Chris' immaturity....the way that I took it was that Doug didn't even want to get into it with Chris and kept himself composed, whereas Chris kinda went off the handle a bit.....:confused3

I took it differently. Doug was playing the cool "I'm not going to engage in this conversation because it's so below me so I'll just keep laughing at you" mentality. But I agree that Chris should've handled it differently.

That's how I took it too. I thought Doug stayed calm & composed during that conversation. Chris was the one harping over it.

There really may have been more to this conversation than we saw. Chris may be only 25 but I think he's much more sincere and genuine that raging Doug.

Sort of like how Doug kept making fun of Chris for being so young?;)

I agree with the other posters that believe that Doug has some rage issues. When Doug was getting ready to confront Kaylon about the baggage comment, he was pushing his sleeves up like he was getting ready to fight. Or maybe it was to intimidate him or something but to me it was quite noticeable. I think he is always about 30 seconds away from completely losing it.

I'd already had my first baby at 27 and been married for three years.:thumbsup2

I think it's wonderful what he's doing with his business. I didn't realize he was Mormon. Oops, you said his parents.

You're right about him with Emily. Here she has all these guys falling all over her, trampling each other to get time with her and Jef is the elusive one...:rolleyes1

I dunno... a woman is a WOMAN at 27, a man is still somewhat prepubescent at that age. If he isn't he'll be that way at 40 when it's REALLY unattractive.. :rotfl:

I cannot get on the Jef train, he looks like a creepy kid. If he becomes the next Bachelor it'll be another Jason/Ben season, when the pitiful awwwww guy becomes a bonified creep. No thanks. Guys are different when they have one woman to impress and turn into who they REALLY are when they have 25 vying for his affections.

I'm not crazy about any of the guys but I do like Doug and Sean the best. They come across as men, not boys or jocks. Ryan came down so far on the ladder he's underground. :scared:

Never liked Arie, hoped she wouldn't call him but she does like him. ugh. And he does look drunk even though I think he thinks it makes him look "dreamy" :crazy2:

Glad she went "West Virginia" on Kalon (is that REALLY a term???) he deserved his comeuppance. I don't care what it was, I was sick of seeing his slick face and red lips.:rolleyes2

I haven't gotten nosy enough to check who she picked yet. Maybe after next week I'll be nosy enough..;)

OMG!!! Yep, I was thinking the same thing about young men being 'boys'... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And, hey, at his age, yep, he better grow up in like two weeks, or maybe it just ain't gonna happen...

However, aside from that, I am not getting much negativity when I look at Jef.

Heck, there has been more immaturity, drama, narcissism, etc... with many of the other men!
He has avoided that, according to the producers and the editing...

And, I wanted to say to you guys that maybe you should NOT underestimate what Emily may be seeing in him.

Remember, she is still fairly young... And, as a teenager, had to grow up really quick when she got involved with Ricky, then dealing with his loss, and her pregnancy... carrying a child and becoming a single mother. At just 19.

Something tells me that, inside, there may still be this girl who wants a younger, more carefree, type of thing. (Even though, of course, she IS miles and miles ahead of Jef and many other early-twenty year olds.) I think that is why she has kept him around, even though he is still so young, unsure, not-matured, enough to take her in his arms and lay a kiss on her. (OMG!!! That kiss was like some nervous high school boys first kiss at prom!!!!)

I have seen a few little nuances and photos that I feel back up what I just wrote.

HECK, the whole thing is mostly scripted anyhow... But, it's fun to speculate!!!

....and when he finally DID kiss her, it seemed more romantic...

I agree! I loved the anticipation and felt like a nervous schoolgirl when he finally kissed her.

I like that he is different from the other guys. Maybe it's that he doesn't have an ego the size of Mount Kilimanjaro? Either way, he seems very "normal" and isn't just showboating for the cameras the way some of the other guys are. I hope they don't pick him to be the next Bachelor because I don't want him to turn into an idiot like all the other recycled Bachelors (Jake, Ben, etc.).

Heck I've lived in West Virginia all my life and I've NEVER heard that term used. It sounds mean.....or wild.....like a raccoon! :confused3 Maybe one day she'll explain it!

Umm. . . if you have to ASK or ANNOUNCE you are about to kiss someone, it is sooooo not working. :sad2:

I agree! I loved the anticipation and felt like a nervous schoolgirl when he finally kissed her.

Look at the reference you used when talking about Jef - schoolgirl. He's more of the young, teenybopper crowd.

::yes::

Robin, we have to stop dating the men!!!!

I just think she meant I'm not all dainty and "southern belle" all the time, I can get down home & dirty when I have to."

Wasn't West Virginia one of the border states in the war between the North & the South? Those states literally lost the most as brother was literally fighting brother in some cases, and people had to make a stand on one side or the other and fight for what they believe in. So that reference could have a real old connotation. :confused3

I do think she is attracted to a certain part of him. He's young, hip, and now has that "from a Mormon background" appeal going to him.

But, I've been in clothing stores and tried on beautiful clothes knowing full well that there was no real place in my life for them. But I wanted to try the on for the way they make me feel, for a time.

I feel like a princess or a million bucks.
bf-mejnking0.gif
But, in the end, it's back to REAL life :joker: and the dress really doesn't fit in that way.

I think Emily will pick someone who is a real "man" for her and as Rikki's dad. Look at how each time she's with Arie, she fits under his arm, where she feels safe, comforted & protected. She wants THAT. To not have to be the one in charge all the time. She's done that for the past 6 years.

Ohhh, I definitely agree. Love your post!

But, there have been surprises....

They don't always pick the one who is the most 'right' or who is the best for them!!!

Princess Woman and Justin Beiber Guy would be an unlikely pair at best!!!

But, just don't underestimate what she might be seeing in him, or how long he stays around. ;)

Once again I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm not getting the Jef vibe that you all have. I'm not sure what it is about him. He seems SO young, but yet he's 27 so not as young as Chris (who DOESN'T seem young...). Is it the hair? :rotfl: I'm trying to think back on him, and I think it's because he seems so serious or awkward or... I don't know. Have we seen him just be himself? Does he know how to lighten up and have fun? That first kiss was just painful to watch for me, lol.

Like I said earlier, I'm really impressed with Emily this season. The ONE negative thing that comes across to me with her is that she seems to be looking too hard for that PERFECT man - I'm afraid nobody is going to be good enough for her or meet her high expectations. And we all know there is no such thing as a perfect man (only perfect women...) ;)

I like Jef but don't feel the love either that so many have for him - he seems nice enough, fine but not for Emily in my mind or anywhere close as a choice for her - but who knows.

I do disagree with her looking for the PERFECT man though because she seems to bristle when they seem to be perfect and then she starts comparing to Brad (who apparently she thought was PERFECT) yet he showed numerous flags throughout his season that he was far from perfect.

I like Sean - I think they look cute together...that's my basis ha! Wolf is barely a blip on my radar yet so if he is going to catch up to the other ones it better be soon.

I think Ryan toned it down this week (compared to last) but he does have a bit of bad boy cute in him. Not a good choice though.

Nope, not completely in the minority!!!
I totally agree!!!

The immaturity is very, very, obvious...
And, I almost said the exact same thing about the kiss!

I do like Jef, though.
But seriously have my doubts, at his age, if he is going to be one of the men that do actually mature and 'grow up'.

When Emily said, "WV" it immediately reminded me of Taylor on RHOBH - except she used the term "Oklahoma". That's the first time I had ever heard someone use a state to describe a butt kickin someone was gonna get...:rotfl2:

My thoughts exactly. Maybe Jef takes her back to time she shared with Ricky H. She likes to use the word 'cool' around him a lot...

Nope, not completely in the minority!!!

It seems to me that "Jef not making a move" is being used to describe his immaturity. I don't see that as immature at all...maybe his parents taught him some good Mormon manners. :confused3 Call us old fashioned, but my DH didn't attempt to 'lay-it-on-me' (eww, nasty Arie just came to mind :crazy2: please, God, take it away :worship:) during our first few dates...and he was 30 yrs old.

However, I agree that he LOOKS young, even for 27, but his bio (Entrepreneur, CEO, college graduate) doesn't strike me as a person who is not mature. Perhaps he is not mature enough for Emily, but to me, she is overly mature for her age...again, nothing wrong with that either.

I still like the guy though, with or without Emily. He's super cool.

I

I took it differently. Doug was playing the cool "I'm not going to engage in this conversation because it's so below me so I'll just keep laughing at you" mentality. But I agree that Chris should've handled it differently....

...and I took that 'laughing' as more of a nervous laugh, like a reaction, or to dissipate his underlying tension....

Didn't Emily twirl her hair on her date with Sean? :rolleyes1 He's my favorite at this point.

I'm in there with you guys. I don't think he's a match at ALL. She needs a MAN.

Sorry I've been MIA - don't have cable in the trailer, so I watch on internet later - I just haven't had the time to catch up. Interesting episode last week. I agree - liking Sean, and she does need a man. I think she has poor judgement and she's so fixated on finding a father figure for her daughter that she isn't giving herself time to form her own relationship, which I'm sorry - but that has to come first and then "we'll see." She can't expect these men who are not fathers to know how they feel about a little girl they haven't even met.

I am just thinking she's stupid right now. :sad2:

....he seems like a really great guy, but he just doesn't 'do it' for me....he also seems too young for Emily....:confused3

Are you talking about Jef or Sean? You think Sean is too young for Emily, too?
