Hi Everyone,

My 10 yr old son Kyle and I are planning on checking out the Pin Trading night at All Star Sports on June 9th. This is the first day we arrive at WDW - and he has been excited to get into Pin Trading. No, we are not die hard collectors, and he will be picking out pins that please HIM/ not me.

First, is it fun for kids who just want to collect for FUN? Or are most of the collectors looking for LE/Rare/Lanyard only?
Second, what should I expect for crowds?
Third, how much time should I allocate for the event?
and fourth, I know there is a Kids only section... but is there also an adult trading area for amatures like me?

Thanks.. and hope to see you there!

The best part of the pin trading event their is the kids only trading zone. The kids get to trade off of a large cork board that is covered in pins. They can pick any pin off of the board they would like to trade for any Disney approved trading pin (must be metal, non-Sedesma or not from Spain). They trade one pin for one pin.
They are trading with the cast members who run the kids pin trading zone. There normally are also some coloring sheets their for the kids to color as well. Each child gets a punch card with their name on it and they can enter the trading zone to make 5 trades in the kids only zone per night.

Unfortunately, their is no adult zone for beginning pin traders. Something you might want to do is talk to some of the traders their who have their books out. They will know lots of information about trading and might be able to give you some advice. These traders have lots of pins their but often times they are looking for specific pins. Some of them might have books of traders that they are willing to trade with anyone.

You will probably want to talk to the different traders who are their. They will be your best bet to learn more information and than you will know who will be willing to trade. If you don't talk to them you won't find out if they are willing to trade. Their might be some who might not be willing to talk to you or who won't be willing to trade with you. Since the area outside of the Kids Only Zone does not have very many rules, they go by whatever rules the individual trader wants to follow.

I hope this helps.

Catrin, I think my daughter (Callie-11) and I will be there at some time during the evening. We haven't done it before but have heard about it and ReAnSt's explaination is perfect.

From what I understand, the adult pin trading section is not for us. We just don't have the big time collections or hard to find pins that they are looking for. I'm sure they will let you look a their books though like the DTD traders.

We're just going for the kid trading. I was told that is from 7-10pm and it usually takes about an hour for the kids to get through their 5 trades.

Unsure when we'll get there. We'll be ariving at POP about 2:30, go to a park and then but to ASSp.

Becky... thanks for that great info!
Sharon... hope to see you there! I am going there just for Kyle... he is getting so into his trading pins... he loves going on pinpics and checking them out. He has already decided which ones he is trading first!

Have FUN!
