Welcome to both of you!!! :goodvibes

I'm in my crunch time now. I have about 30 days to really buckle down and work out my plan. Then I hope to contact IPO, make sure our special needs info was relayed, then fill out the form they send - and get our info back so we're on the list for ADRs and ticketing for other things we need. I'm out of town when my 180 day mark hits so I'm so anxious. Can you tell? :lmao:

*Where are you staying? POR
*When are you going? Dec. 4th - 11th
*Who's in your group? See siggy below :)
*What is everyone hoping for as far as ADRS? One character breakfast, either Chef Mickey or Cape May.
*What are you looking most forward to? Seeing all the Christmas decorations, and being back in Disney.
*Are you using any other site to help you plan? I hop over to allears.net for menus and mousesavers for offsite meal deals. (We'll probably spend as much on food as we do on the hotel. And that's with coupons and kids eat free nights  )ETA - we got a pin code for room rate so our food budget isn't THAT insane ;)
*What are you doing to get in the Disney spirit now? We are doing monthly countdown movie nights. And we already counted our first container of spare change towards the trip :)

*Where are you staying? WL woods view

*What are you looking most forward to? Seeing all the Christmas decorations, and being back in Disney.
*Are you using any other site to help you plan?Allears.net and TGM
*What are you doing to get in the Disney spirit now? Just reading the disboards!!!

SILLY QUESTION ALERT!

So, DS will be 8 at the time of our trip. (therefore still on the kids dining plan) He doesn't eat what is on many of the items that are offered on the kids menu at the counter service areas. Do you still HAVE to order from the kids menu if you have a child's dining plan. I'm sure you do....but just wondering if anyone had any inside info.
Thanks!!

I believe so- children have to eat off the kids menu. But i dont have kids but im pretty sure that it how it works.

Yes that's how it's worked for us in the past. If you order an adult meal, you're "charged" an adult TS/QS meal on the dining plan and pay once you run out of credits. We wanted to pay for DS2's meals when we ordered his and the servers always just used all credits (DS4's meal plan) and we wound up running out of credits. Not a big deal, just not what we'd planned on. I've learned you have to be specific if you're looking for something with your credits.

On the other hand, when we've paid for meals OOP (I would guess it's the same for DDP), chefs and servers have always been accomidating if my boys were looking for something that wasn't on the menu (once DS2 wanted a grilled cheese somewhere and it wasn't on the menu; DH and I offered to order like a cheeseburger without the meat and they refused - just made the grilled cheese and came up with a price). Now, we also get "special" treatment with DS5 because he's allergic to EVERYTHING (eggs, soy, peanuts, shellfish, potatoes, ect) so the chef's always willing to try and work with him to come up with something "different" that he hasn't eaten 100 other times because he's so limited on his options.

So, long story still really long (sorry about that!), I would say you're welcome to order whatever you want but you're going to be left over with a lot of kid credits unless you can get a chef/server to work with you on ordering or "upgrading" that dining plan to an adult plan (I don't know how that would work). Hopefully someone will come along with some more info on that one.

On another note, has anyone been looking at the Fantasy Land thread??? Someone called Disney on two different occassions and was told ToonTown is being closed in April????? I so wanted to see it "one last time". I'm really bummed I have to say! According to the CMs they spoke with (this is what they're posting so take it with a grain of salt...we know how things change!), everything will be closed in ToonTown. :sad2: That's a real bummer!

Some of us have to be getting close to the 180 mark. Just waiting for the hours to come out so we can try and get an idea of where we'll be on which days. Oh! And we're adding a traveler to our trip - DH's mom. She's been with us once before so it should be a fun time! :cool1:

Yes, you do need to order off the kids' menu WHERE AVAILABLE. With some research, you can locate CS that have just one menu (like Casey's at the MK, Cool Wash Pizza in Epcot FW, or Sommerfest in Epcot WS). At those places, children order off the regular menu, since there is no kids' menu available.

I knew things were changing. We were planning to skip WDW in 2011 - and maybe go back in the spring of 2013 to see the changes. But when I saw your post I went to read the thread.

I'm now wondering if I need as many days at WDW as I had planned. If they move Goofy's Barnstormer - will it be up somewhere else by the time we go? That ride is one of my DDs favorites.

Anyhow, initially I had plans around MK for 3 days of our trip. One early morning to get Ariel's autograph at the grotto (which that thread shared may be closed), and two evenings at MVMCP. Maybe in light of the changes, two days at MK would be plenty, and we should just head back earlier.

Things to think about.

I don't so many things being up in the air! I know things will change several more times before we get there and I'll be glued to the DIS for the entire time until we leave to figure out what's closed and open and all that. We're staying our full 10 days either way but may go to Sea World or something for a day if Disney isn't cooperating. I'm glad they're "ahead" of schedule with what they thought but it's frustrating to have information constantly changing. It certainly makes the die hard planners like myself sick to their stomachs trying to plan everything out and not knowing how things are gonna be. I'm hoping for the best and trying to remain positive...I don't know how long I'll be able to. :rolleyes1

There are tons of other things to do in Disney both with or without that day for your ticket. I'm sure we can all give you lots of ideas on how to full that time you were gonna spend at the MK if things don't work out and stuff's closed. :thumbsup2
