Who wants to join my petty pity party?

Me too. Dh has been unemployed for 6 months and we have a son in college.. so there is NO money for vacations! I find I am getting very jealous of everyone else posting pictures from their cruises and "girls only" trips, etc. We do get away for a night or two every now and then (mostly taking ds back and forth to school, 6 hrs away), but nothing I'd consider a real vacation!

I'll join! And what's this about making lemonade out of lemons all about? I don't even have enough luck to have any lemons!

What with my illnesses (yes plural), DS14 illness and various medical bills, DH's health maladies, 2 paycuts, lost one of my best dogs to an awful illness, ex decided he shouldn't have to pay any child support at all ... yeah, well I'm sure y'all get the picture.

I can't even allow myself to think about Disney. I get myself all upset, feel like crying, think I'll never get back ...


I think there's a gypsy voodo curse on me or something. Like this only an evil wizard.

Oh dear, if I had known so many of you were pining for vacations, I'd have let you take my place at the in-laws last week. THAT is not a vacation in my opinion (at least for me).

Just to make y'all feel better about my vacation last week...while we were gone our power blew out because a squirrel chewed the line. We had to throw out a ton of meat from the freezer. It was messy, but not too stinky because my neighbor got the power back up and it re-froze.

We also have bed bugs (not from the in-laws, we've been dealing with them since March and the exterminator wants $1000 to start)

Dh thinks this is a tiny little problem because we only occasionally see a single bug anywhere, and he accuses me of TOTALLY overreacting. The bugs are bad enough, but throw in fighting with dh over it and I am done.

And I probably do have PMS but that doesn't mean he isn't being a jerk!

Can I join too?

We went to WDW for Thanksgiving with my sisters family - NOT a great idea. I felt like I didn't even get to enjoy the vacation or WDW for doing what they wanted to do. We went on a canoe trip in May which was totally not my style of vacation.

Hubby says we can do a long weekend in August but nothing more than 2 hours drive - that seriously limits us.

I just want a REAL vacation. A break between my summer and fall classes; but it doesn't look like it is going to happen. We are still house hunting - at the rate we are going our next vacation will be to move into the new house.
