We played on the 4-night cruise two years ago. My husband won $175 in shipboard credit!

I have played this on my second cruise... Ooh boy, did not know what I was getting myself into

We arrived late, the game had already started, and sat down in the last row (which was totally empty) Well....they called a row and number, and I did not know what was going on!!! The light is flashing on me, and everyone is clapping and then a CM brings me up, the whole time I am dying...........(oops, no offense there) and I go up, still about ready to faint. So, the game starts, and I get to the 175$ shipboard credit, and lost it. Really difficult questions, but would I do this again...NEVER... I am an extremely shy person.

On our last cruise, the CM at the entrance let us know that if you sit at the back, they assume you do not want to play, and if you sit in the first few noisy rows, that is where the majority are picked from.... Glad they implented this, as not everyone wants to go up..... I have a nice pin WHo Wants to be a Mousketeer...

Just thought I would share my experience.....
and we had a few extra due to this....

just my .02 - but if DCL admits they made an error they should own it and rectify it -- maybe it's too late to try to win the cruise but something for your DD should be done to recognize her success in the game and catching an incorrect trivia answer - that is something she can be proud of, she knew her Disney better the DCL!

even a seat at the Captains table for dinner - i don't know - something -- I can't remember what you said your DD's age was but my 12 y/o would've been thrilled with a couple hours pampering at the spa, or the like; something catering to her -- smoothies everynight with dinner, free DCL sweatshirt, etc

IMO she was cheated out of her rightful chance to win the game -- that deserves acknowledgment

This is a tough one. It really has more to do with the lesson that you want your daughter to walk away with.

I think that you should model for her kindness and appropriateness in requesting "justice" in this issue, if that's the way you choose to go.

No yelling, no insisting, no complaining....I remember my Dad making HUGE stinks about things, and I don't remember what the "stinks" were about, I just remember the way he handled it, and it took me years to realize there was a better way.

If you choose to say "oh well" and enjoy the rest of your cruise, there is a lesson in that as well.

It depends on the lesson you value the most, not that either is the best.

Does is matter more to be right in this instance or is this a battle worth fighting, taking away from vacation time?

Actually, the answer to that question was "Aladdin," which was released two years prior to "The Lion King." Tim Rice wrote the lyrics to the songs that were written after original lyricist, Howard Ashman's death. In fact, he wrote the lyrics for "A Whole New World," the hit song from "Aladdin." I'm not sure why Disney did not realize that their answer was in fact the correct one.

The question asked WAS..."What was Lyricist, Tim Rice's FIRST work with the Walt Disney Company"...not WHAT was his first COMPLETED or CREDITED work...that's where the difference is. The answer asked was given the proper answer. If the question had been asked or posed differently then the answer would have been otherwise.

That doesn't sound right. We were at the show three weeks ago and seats are still picked randomly. We had one person chosen from the back row. We picked rows with empty seats all around us but we didn't make it! Maybe next time!

On some nights, when there is not a full theatre for the game show they will only play the first half of the theatre. They ask anyone who wants to play to move down to the front half of theatre and then the computer will only pick rows/seats half way up.

On the nights when there are lots of people they will play the whole theatre...just depends on how full the game show is that particular night.

We have sailed with both scenarios!!!!

Or what was his first "work" as in art - a work of art implies completion. Since Aladdin would have been completed first, it may have been his first work, even if he'd already gotten paychecks for Lion King.

The question is confusing depending on if you define work as "paycheck" or work as "art" and should be scrapped.

No there was no yelling or anything of the sort just to make that clear. No whining or complaining either!

Here is what happened. My friend asked to speak to Scott (asst cruise director) in person. I went with her and he clarified what was apparently confused over the phone. Disney stance is this: The onshore question writer stands by his answer but not his question. As in they understand the confusion over the question but still feel that Aladdin is the correct answer. The question will be reworded in the future or just not used. The onboard staff cannot do anything further if the onshore question department stands by their answer. The entire situation was typed into a dialogue and emailed to onshore customer service (something like that) my friend will be contacted within a week of our return by someone with the last name Parker sorry can't remember the 1st name in guest services on shore to give a final word about the entire situation.

As for Scott on board he sent a large stuffed Mickey doll to their stateroom with an invitation to meet all the characters of the Farewell show 15 minutes prior to the show for a meet and greet. It was great fun and we got pictures with all the characters and if we had brought our autograph book we would have had autographs as well. Darn! Sorry it was 10pm the last night and we forgot plus we had just finished dinner at Palo! I will hopefully write a trip report. Scott was very nice and handled the whole thing very well.

I will let you know what the phone call from shore reveals. by the way, My own husband and daughter got up there as well. They walked away with $125 in onboard credit after giving up on:

IMO GS handled this the best way possible. How neat to have a private meet & greet with so many special characters that you normally don't see up close.

We sailed the Magic in February of 2003 and that same Tim Rice question was the one my son missed at the $175 mark! They do recycle the questions! He also answered the Lion King

The theatre was pretty full that night, and I used the trick of waiting till the show was starting, then going in and sitting in the back where there was hardly anyone sitting. I didn't tell my husband this strategy, so he was very suprised when our row was called, and up came the CM to our row, then the seat was called and no one was in it, so they went down the row to my husband! He and my stepson went up on stage. While we would have loved to win a cruise, my kids were very happy with $80 worth of souvenirs!
