Aww, man, none of my line buddies made it. I was hoping!

Does anyone know if any of the contestants made it to the million or any of the higher scores? I have seen a couple of people get to a half million points and that was exciting. To see someone become a millionaire would be wonderful, especially if it were ME. (grin)

SG, if you are asking specifically about the Walk In and Win contestants, I have reason to believe the majority of them didn't do very well. However, I do not know for certain how well they did. Guess we'll find out when the shows air next week.

You may be more interested in watching the week of February 20-24. That is when the Million Dollar Movie Week series airs. Rumors suggest that those are the shows to watch.

And the suspense will just kill me. I will suspend my bitterness temporarily and watch to see what happened, though. ;)

It's about time they had someone take the million, it's been over two years now, hasn't it? I agree with your assessment, Rob, since I'd think such a specialized question set could benefit someone who really knew their movies.

I hear Deal Or No Deal is going to be in my neck of the woods doing an open call next weekend, still debating as to whether I should try for it or keep my faith on going out for Millionaire. Of course, I know the odds I'd get on Deal are low, but I don't want to jinx myself for Millionaire.

I'm such a geek.

You would think so, but during the primetime run they ran a movie edition series and the results were, well, less than stellar.

Deal or No Deal is in Chicago tomorrow. I'm considering going, but not sure yet. I'll probably let the weather be a determining factor. There is also a new show looking for contestants. It is called the World Series of Pop Culture. They will be in Chicago next month. The show will be run on VH1 and is jointly sponsored by Entertainment Weekly. Three person teams compete against each other answering questions in areas of pop culture such as television, movies, and music. I have an application for it and have it half filled out. One of the obstacles here is my team is a person short. Oh, and from what I understand, this new show is being done by Michael Davies, the same person who brought Millionaire to the states.

Truthfully it seems like most of their "special" shows have been, erm, not so special after all. I like that they try for diversity to keep things fresh, but it seems like they are either watering down the questions or picking people who are interesting but don't necessarily play the game well. But then again, I am but a lowly backseat driver so I probably shouldn't cast aspersions, they've managed to do something that I have not yet succeeded at.

Yeah. Gameshows will teach you humility, that's for sure.

Good luck to you if you decide to head out there today!

My thought at this point is we'll go out to brunch that morning and case the line, if it looks like there would be some fun people to socialize with on the line, we'll join in, if not, we'll pass. I like being spontaneous anyway. Half the fun of my doomed Walk In and Win experience was hanging out with people on the line. :)

I did see a post about that elsewhere and was intrigued for about 5 seconds but pop culture is truly my husband's area of expertise, he's not a "I wanna be on TV guy", and in this case, I don't think he *would* pick me for his team!

I think you'd be great for this show though! Let us know how it goes!

I will keep my fingers crossed that one or both of you manage to get picked for any of the shows you are thinking of trying out for.

I do not care to watch competitions UNLESS I have someone to root for. I would love to be swinging my pom poms and rooting for you guys.

I let the weather and other commitments keep me away from the "Deal or No Deal" auditions.

However, I have turned in an application and have an audition scheduled for "World Series of Pop Culture" next month. We're told that the audition takes an hour so and includes a written test. It is not clear whether all 3 members of each team have to pass the test or not. It will be a bummer if not everyone passes and they turn us away as a whole.

If they choose us to continue in the process, then we have to go back the next day. I hope we find out one way or another early enough that we can make the drive home from Chicago if we aren't selected.

If anyone is interested in watching my future "World Series of Pop Culture" teammate in the Hot Seat, her appearance on WWTBAM should air tomorrow (Wednesday). Since it is a syndicated show, you'll have to check your local listings to find out what time and channel.

And in a blatant effort to get us back on topic, what did everyone think of the Walk In and Win Week episodes that aired last week? I thought that at least a couple of the stacks certainly suggested they were trying to give away some big money. Unfortunately, the contestants they chose for the most part weren't able to collect.

I also was hoping the WIAW contestants would do better.I didn't get to watch all of the shows. What was the most won by a WIAW contestant?I also was surprised by the large percentage of Florida contestants chosen.I guess the producers don't consider geography that much in their selections.

Hi Rob I was quite surprised at how easy the questions seemed to be at the WIAW contests too. It reminded me of when the WWTBAM show began and it was so much easier than some of the shows now. It was also disappointing that none of the contestants did very well. I saw one use a lifeline for an Ariel question.

I am sorry to hear that you could not make the one show and will be rooting that you make the other.

What is your friend's name so I will know her when I see her tonight?

Her name is Carol Morse. I met her on another Internet board. She was looking for people to join her WSoPC team. We'll be meeting for the first time in real life the day of the audition.

Carol was awesome! :)

As to the Walk in and Walk Out Five Minutes Later episodes...I watched one and had to stop because all I could think was, I knew that answer, and that answer, and that answer...

Blah. I coulda been a contender. ;)

I passed on Deal Or No Deal, since we were due to get hit by a snowstorm that day, and I chose correctly since we got slammed with 26 inches! (a new record for NYC, apparently...)
