who to contact about DVC resale status

It's been over 2 months now, since I made my bid and put my deposit down on a resale DVC through Reid Realty and I still haven't heard a thing. I would like to know the status of the sale and I hoping someone might know who I could contact at Disney to find out. I have no information on the property except home resort, #of points, usage year, and owners name. Will that be enough to get info from Disney or am I still considered nobody until the sale goes through.? I'm getting very frustrated. Please help!!!

If your closing hasn't taken place, Disney/DVC will not have any info for you. IMHO, you need to contact your broker and find out what is going on. Two months seems like a long time to be waiting - I would think you should AT LEAST have information on whether or not your offer was accepted by the seller and if so, when the sale was submitted for Disney to act (or hopefully not act) on its ROFR. In fact, I think by now, you should have been given a date for the closing. If there was/is a problem, your broker should have made you aware of it. Again, JMHO, but it doesn't sound like your broker would win any awards for good service. He/She should at least be keeping you informed!

Please know that I am not experienced in resale processes/timelines. My opinions might not be worth much. Hope someone who is experienced answers your post soon.

Since you have not closed at this point I would contact Reid and tell them you need a status ASAP! How did you pay your depoist? Has the check been cashed? If not, threaten to put a stop on it!!

I actually have attempted to make an offer thru this agency and got NO reponse. So I won't use them again. (You should at least tell the customer if their offer was accepted or rejected.

I was under the impression that the offer was accepted because they have my $1000 deposit in trust and I gave the buyer the full asking price. I'm almost ready to pull my bid. I feel like the amount of time that has passed is getting rediculous without any info. I have found that Reid doesn't keep the buyer informed of anything and only give information if it is asked for (and sometimes, not even then). I'll try Reid again. Thanks for your help.

We were something like 6 weeks from offer to closing with Jaki at A Timeshare Store. And she called once a week with a progress (or lack of progress) report.

I had e-mailed Reid last week and got no reply so at the advice of all here, I emailed again but this time with a little more authority. I just recieved an e-mail from Reid saying the points had been released for resale by Disney and that it wouldn't be much longer. Thanks to you all for your help. I guess I need to be a little pushier from now on.
I can't believe that you were called once a week. That;s so great. I literally have heard nothing from Reid without asking. Well hopefully it won't be long now.
Reid did send me a conract #. Is it possible to use that contract # to verify that I have the correct amount of points and that they were banked as asked??

Is that the same one who sponsors this forum? I'm not too sure because you said "A Timeshare Store" and the sponsor is "The Timeshare Store". I don't mean to be picky, it's just that sometimes someone will use a name very close hoping to get their good reputation. Hope it's the same one, though!

Within a few days of your actual closing you should be able to call DVC and make reservations. Most closing companies get the info to them within a day or 2 and once DVC has you entered in the system, you can make reservations, bank points and the like.

I am selling a resale through Reid realty right now so I happen to know he was on vacation last week...that could be why there was no response....In my paperwork it says that closing takes about 60 days and sometimes longer depending on Disney FROR...and they are probably very busy right now with the prices going up on December 1st....everybody trying to get in at the lower price and all. Just a thought.
I have been in constant contact with him back and forth over the past 5 days or so and he has responded very quickly.

For what its worth, we purchased through Reid and had to call for any information. I got very frustrated at the end waiting for it to close. I was able to call DVC directly and spoke with someone who was in charge of resales. She was able to give me some information on the contract, not a lot, but what she could give me proved very helpful. The closing agency he used seemed very slow compared to what others have posted on the closing of their resales.

we too are doing a resale through the sponsor "the Timeshare Store" we made the offer, received paperwork to sign, and that was the last I heard from them, I received paperwork from the closing company to sign, sent that back. 30 days later nothing, I phoned the timeshare store and they said they didn't hear back so assume all is well. I phoned the closing company and they said they plan on closing this on 12/4, but still havent heard back from Disney, so we will see. If one needs hand holding through the entire process, the resale probably is not the way to go, but if not, the savings can be well worth it. Once I close I will report back on how long it took.

I agree with DVC-Don.

Jaki and her son, Ken, at A Timeshare Broker were wonderful about keeping us informed. We closed in about 30 days. (However, she mentioned that was unusually quick timeframe.) I would highly recommend them! Have also heard great things about Shontell Crawford, too on this board.

Jona8484 - Glad that you got a response, thought I would share this web site with you. It was posted on this forum and I used it to check when our deed was actually recorded in Orange County.

You just type in your name and you can verify when the deed is recorded.

We used the Timeshare Store for our re-sale and from offer to closing took 1 month 11 days. I provided the time-line below in case this is of any help.

9/23 Made offer
9/24 Offer accepted
9/25 Initial offer paper work faxed to me
9/27 Deposit check and signed paper work mailed
10/28 Timeshare Closing Service mailed closing package
10/30 Closing package received
11/2 Certified Check mail for full payment
11/8 Received Timeshare Closing letter notifying us that closing had taken place
11/6 Deed Recorded in Orange County
11/16 Received Member Guidebook from Disney
11/22 Received Member Cards

So 1 month 11 days from offer to closing and 2 months from offer to receiving member cards from Disney

I've bought two resales with the last one thru Reid. I took about 2 months from offer to close which isn't much different than when I bought thru the Timeshare Store. He communicates via e-mail and fax so his personal attention isn't nearly as good as Timeshare Store. He does get some really good prices, comparatively speaking, so in my mind it's a trade-off.
