When Disney ran the free entry on your birthday promotion, I took the gift card instead, since I already had my ticket.
I used it once, for under $30.
Next year on vacation, I was told it was blank. It was supposed to be non-expiring.
There is no phone number or any contact information on the card.
Any experts out there have any idea who I can contact about this?
Thanks!

Are you sure it didn't expire? I had one of those too and I remember thinking I had to use it within one year. Other than a Mickey Mouse watch, there was nothing else I particularly wanted so I remember just buying random "stuff" with it like a few grocery items and an over-priced bottle of wine at the resort because it was use it or lose it.

I was told it's non-expiring, and that is by law in Florida. If I remember correctly, originally when the promotion was announced, it was stated as expiring, and then that was changed.

We just used one of our Birthday Fun Cards this month without any issue.

I searched and found a thread from 2009 where people were discussing the gift card. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2053933 You are correct, it is supposed to be non-expiring.
Great on 2 counts: 1. I'm still entitled to the card, and 2. My memory isn't completely shot LOL
And by the way, the page disneyparks.com/birthdayfuncard does NOT say there is a time limitation.
I am now on my 3rd phone call, on hold for the 5th time, I think.

Since it was a freebie promotional gift card, it falls under an exemption in the Florida law and may expire in a year. The non-expiration law is really meant to apply to a gift card or gift certificate that a consumer purchases or a card given for a return or refund. But only if the expiration date was disclosed in writing when it was issued.

I'm guessing the next time they do such a promo, they will make people sign for the card and on that form there will be an expiration date.

I wonder if the CM that said it had no value selected the wrong payment method. They have a special payment method setup on the touch screen for the Birthday Fun Cards. That method of payment and the cards are still valid as we used one of our cards earlier this month.

Disney is still honoring the Birthday Fun Cards. We used on earlier this month.

I called disneystore.com guest services . . . waited for 10 minutes . . . was transferred to another number . . . waited a few minutes . . . the CM couldn't hear me and hung up! So now I'm on hold at disneystore.com again.:sad1:

Oh no!

I wonder if its possible your card got demagnetized and that's why it didn't work :confused3. I don't know if this will work or not, but going off what a PP stated if the CM chose the wrong payment option in the register maybe see if you can check your balance on Disneystore.com.

I suppose it could have become demagnetized, but I'm pretty careful about that.
And I tried to check the balance, but I don't see anywhere that has that function, not even on the disneystore website. Which by the way, has free shipping today.

The Birthday Fun Cards don't have the PIN code necessary to do a balance lookup. IIRC, they are only valid for merchandise at WDW.

I'm not sure disneystore is who you should be contacting about this.

There's a phone number on disneygiftcard.com...is it a different number than you're calling?

If you're not at WDW or DLR, you can't use the card. If you're trying to use it on disneystore, that's not where it's supposed to be valid. World of Disney at the resorts, and disney owned stores inside the resorts are where you can use it. So that might be the whole problem, that it's just flat out not valid where you're trying to use it.

That's OK if you have a fancy cell phone. Mine has a green and black LCD screen LOL.

it's ok. i had to run out to buy a phone i could plug into the phone jack just in case we lose power with frankenstorm sandy. ;)

Oh yeah, people don't realize that you're dead in the water with all wireless during a power outage.
