Who to buy the PAP for??

Okay we have figured out that we will probably get the ten day non-exp passes for most of the family. I expect we might end up going almost 10 days this year but better safe in this case. We do want to get the DDE for our trip in Feb. so we need one annual pass.

Yes, I know this sounds like a petty question but my folks did raise me to be frugal (I love it when I can blame my parents. :rotfl: ).

Is there any reason we shouldn't buy the kids annual pass? Are they eligible for the dde? I realize it is only a $58 savings but then next year when we have to buy more gate tickets we will be buying them at the kids rate instead of the grownup rate so we can save a bit more there...

Any advice from the wise ones is always very appreciated.

If you buy the child PAP, you will not be eligible for the DDE card - you must be at least 21 years old to order that.

Not sure that a child's PAP will qualify you to book AP-discounted rooms, either. You might ask over on the Resorts Codes and Rate Board or maybe someone else knows. IIRC, the rules on using a child's AP to book a room changed when the BRP was introduced (but I'm not sure). Many members try to get an AP discounted room for weekend nights so they can avoid the higher point costs for those nights.

Best wishes -

From what I can see on the AllEarsNet.com ticket comparison chart, the difference on an adult PAP vs a 10 day MYW premium with no expiration comes to $31 for adults and a whopping $12 for kids in the best of circumstances (ie advance purchase thru Maple Leaf; at the gate, the MYW passes are more). That is of course at 2005 prices, which could very well change over the New Year's weekend.

We are cheaping out by getting simple APs this year rather than PAPs. And if we decide to go to a waterpark, we'll simply upgrade.

IMO if there is any chance you will be at the parks or the waterparks... more than 10 days in the 12 month period, it would pay for all of you to have the PAPs.
