Who thinks the dollar will continue to rise?

Well the £/$ rate is rising again! 1.52510 as of now.

Fairfx is 1.5075 right now, which will probably go up to 1.51 in the next few hours. :D

Mannys is top of the list, also hope to try Bubbalous, Logans roadhouse, Applebees, Cracker barrel & Tony Romas. Also new Sweet Tomato LBV.
Going back to Chilis for a meal with Rob(Fuse04) and Olive Garden with friends, a different location as we were not impressed with OG LBV.
Others will have to wait for next trip like Bahama Breeze, will get there one day.

Great - we had Bubbalous and Chilis on our list for the last trip, but didn't manage to get there.

We really enjoy breakfast at Cracker Barrel. The Blueberry pancakes are excellent. Tried the Friday Night Fish Fry there at Easter, but found the fish less tasty than at home.

We've gone off eating Italian food in Florida. They always seem to overdo the cheese to me.

Sweet Toms always on our list too.

Enjoy!

It hit £1.53 late this afternoon. It's moving in the right direction for us all.

That is until Mervin King opens his mouth with more doom and gloom

I've only 6 weeks till i go and im seriously struggling to save up spending cash.

Any increase in the exchange rate would do me just grand!

I just got. $1.51 with fairfx:) hope it goes up some more.

Yay, me too! What a jump! 1.55 is the bank rate, 1.53 on Fairfx right now! Woop!

hopefully get some more $ at a good rate.

I can get a dollar rate of 1.56 at the moment for our holiday period in October from Crown, so tempted.

When we went in October last year you ordered our dollars in the January getting the 2.00 to the £ rate. Dont think it will head that far for some time so maybe my expectations of when to buy are slighty too high

Wow, Crown are now offering Dec onwards at $1.60 .... still a gamble though, but quite an improvement on recent rates :thumbsup2

i know what you mean, i think i will hang on a bit longer :)

Anyone looking at rates on sites like Crown just be aware there is no security if they cease trading. You can't even pay by credit card for security.
Your money your choice but no way would I give my money to a company for months and months with no guarantee for sake of a few extra dollars.
I know many of you have used them with no problems, just want to make people aware if they have not heard of them before.

BBC.......

The pound has risen to its strongest level this year against the dollar, as investors grew less pessimistic about the health of the UK banking sector.

Sterling climbed as high as $1.5523 against the dollar - the highest since mid-December. It also rose against the euro to 1.1410 euros.

The pound got a lift as UK bank shares gained on hopes the worst might be over for the battered sector.

In January, the pound hit a 23-year low of $1.35 against the dollar.

Last July, the pound was worth more than $2 but fell sharply as the depth of the UK's economic downturn became clear.

Optimism about the UK's financial sector was sparked by a Financial Times report that the government was considering a sale of its shares in Lloyds and RBS.

Currency analysts expect the pound to continue to strengthen, particularly against the euro, as economic data from the euro zone continues to be gloomy.

"There is no doubt the UK economy is still in a bad way," said Mark O'Sullivan, director of dealing at Currencies Direct, a London-based foreign exchange trader.

"But currency markets are taking the view that sterling will outperform both the dollar and euro going forward," he added.

We're going in October and don't plan on taking loads of cash anyway (£1000 max but probably less, prefer to use credit cards) so will just take my chances on the rate nearer the time. My 'benchmark' is $1.50:£1 so anything above that is great, if it's below we'll just have to deal with it ;) I won't use Crown's advance purchase service for the same reasons Wayne mentioned, also because we don't have all of our holiday spends saved up that far in advance.

fingers crossed that it keeps going up :)

Fairfx is 1.5350 right now! Hope it stays like this, or rises more, for tomorrow when I plan to out quite a few dollars on!
