We were at the MK and had just finished watching the 8pm Spectro in Frontierland. We were heading back towards Main Street and going over the bridge from Liberty Square to the entrance of Adventureland when we heard someone shout - "Look over there!" We saw an orange glow low in the sky and then a bright light go up really fast. At first I was confused and someone said that it was the shuttle. It went up and up and then you could see two little red dots split off from the shuttle - booster separation - and then everyone clapped. About 10 minutes after that we saw Wishes on Main Street. It was such a cool night! It was sure nice of NASA to plan the launch right between Spectro and Wishes! ;)

We were flying into Sanford airport when the shuttle took off, so we were lucky enough to watch it from the sky, it was truly amazing. The whole sky lit up!! My kids each had a window seat and had a perfect view of the whole event. It will go down as a best of the best for our family!!! :thumbsup2

We saw it from the MK too, right next to the castle....it was amazing! A memorable evening for sure :thumbsup2

We saw it from the dock at Ft. Wilderness.

We were trying to get to MK for Wishes, but dinner ran way late.

The boat pilot said the launch should be just about the time we would pull up to the dock, and he turned off the lights.

It was great!

We missed Wishes, but it was so worth it!

Wishes ain't nothin' compared to a real rocket launch.

We were there too! We were over by the boat rental area.

Very impressive launch!!

Another viewing from the WL. I saw it from the boat dock at the WL. Great sight over Bay Lake.

We were in the American Pavillion in Epcot listening to the candlelight processional and taking pictures of Santa Claus. We took lots of pictures and are hoping they turn out well. It was amazing.

We saw it - it was amazing! I was expecting to see maybe a bright light like a star but it was a big orange ball with a long orange tail. I had always hoped to see a shuttle launch so I was very excited this one got off while we were there.

We were on the river at POFQ. It was an awesome experience!! I could not believe how light the sky was from 60 miles away!!

I was right next door in Italy. I loved how everyone clapped and cheered as it was flying through the sky. Very cool!

We watched from the Poly beach! :) Had the electrical light pageant in front of us, the shuttle off to the right and then wishes started. It was AWESOME!! Got some pics though they're not very good. Be right back.... ;)

Here ya go. Like I said, my camera takes terrible nighttime pictures. It really made me mad on vacation. lol My last Kodak took awesome night photos, but this new one stinks!!

Anyway, dh was so excited that he was calling everyone he knew telling them we were watching the shuttle take off. lol

We were just coming out of the Yakotori house when we heard the crowd cheering. At first we thought they were cheering at the performers and then we looked up. We had forgotten that there was a possibility of a launch that night. We had my nieces with us and they were so excited to have something extra to tell their classmates when they got back. I have two pictures but when I uploaded them to photobucket you couldn't see the orange glow. I was very excited to see a nighttime launch as I was fortunate enough to see the daytime launch in September during the pin event!

We were in MK in the circle in front of the castle, just to the right, so not yet on main street - right by a popcorn cart. If we turned around we looked directly over Space Mountain - and we saw the launch from that spot. Great glow around Space Mountain, white and orange, then the orange trail ascending "slowly" up and then to our left, as we looked at it, the trail disappeared and a very bright white spot was left as the shuttle entered orbit. Way cool!

We were right in front of the castle waiting for Wishes. Last word we had was the flight had been scrubed due to winds. We had one of the NASA engineers with us on our trip. She called someone from work to see what was going to happen and was told that the winds had just died down and it was a go. The way the crowd cheered was great. She had tears in her eyes because the shuttle program was almost scrapped after Columbia. IT was a really cool thing to see and what better place to watch than from Disney World in front of the castle.
