The run the group like a dictator and if you post or comment anything that could possibly be construed as negative they delete it.

It's very informative; but poorly run.

Are you talking about the FB link here on the DISboards? Or a random FB group that someone has set up?

A random one. It's no biggie. Just wanted to warn people about the harsh environment.

Delete this thread if necessary.

Well, a random group, set up by someone not connected to Disney, there's really no control over from here.

That's one of the issues with FB groups. A real control freak can run his/her page anyway he/she wants to.

I love that group. I think it's a great group just like I think this disboards is a great group. I think the moderators there do a great job given the level of activity. I think the moderators here do a great job too (especially since I don't even know who they are which is a good sign they are pretty hands off). I like how that group keeps it very positive and happy and I like how we can be a bit "looser" here with some of our commentary. Two great groups in my opinion.

If its the one I am thinking about all I know about him is he runs a travel agency and his name is Mark. They had a problem awhile ago with a TON of negative posts and I think they kind of had enough...

I left the same group for exactly those reasons. It seems everyone was afraid to say anything.

Do they have a red logo? Sometimes when I watch sailaways on webcams (I leave Monday and I have been doing that a lot), people hold flags that say Disney Cruising. On one sailing there were 3!

I like the group enough, but am in other groups that are a lot less tame and a lot more fun too.

The FB group is good enough. I appreciate that they keep it pretty much on topic. Well monitored groups are much better IMO. I've seen false information both here and on that site though. Of course you don't really know it is false unless you have experienced it and replying to someone to try and correct it just creates a firestorm, so despite my better judgement, I tend to let it go. Most misinformation is pretty innocent and isn't material to a vacation experience. All the big stuff is pretty spot on.

I especially love it when someone quotes "Disney Policy" as though they know. I have friends and family that are CMs and many of those "policies" are really just personal experiences that someone decided must be a policy. CMs will even sometimes say something is a policy just to avoid an argument with a guest.

I like the FB group ... And this place ... For the most part.

You feel that you get false info and guesses HERE?

Oh yes! One of the most frequent posters mixes a lot of good information with a lot of bad guesses and sometimes wrong information. But, it's ok, because the discussions are really fun. I go to official sources for information, and come here to have fun talking about the ship, shows, dining, the great cast members, etc. This group's discussions are far more welcoming and open than one group that closed a few years ago after huge problems with the group owner's treatment of any who disagreed.

If I see some false information posted, I very often post and correct it. I never experienced a firestorm from this. In my opinion forums like that live on "herd knowledge". Not one single person can know everything, but the more people are willing to add what they know, everyone can learn from it.

Well, then the problem obviously aren't the posters, but the CMs who lie to guests to make their own life easier.

The DISboards was also set up by someone not connected to Disney. And just for the record, there are real control freaks here too.
