Who remembers this?

I think the castle was cute. After all it was temporary. When I went there around that time they were in the process of taking it down. I was disappointed I didnt get to see the whole thing!

I thought the Cake/Candy Castle was cute & different. I knew it wasn't going to be "forever", so I purchased on of the T-Shirts Disney was selling that year to have it "forever".

I was actually standing below the painters when they started it, and those guys took a lot of razzing about the color. When they tried to explain that it was supposed to look like a sloppy, gloppy birthday cake, and saw the horrified reactions of the guests, the painters started laughing, too. Even they thought it was silly.

We saw it in person while I was pregnant with my first dd. YUCK!! Enough to make me sick to my tummy! Thank goodness they reversed the damage!!

I know it wasn't as nice as the castle is now as far as looks go, but I simply LOVED it then. The castle was like that on my very first trip to WDW and I won't ever EVER forget it. Looking at a picture like that reminds me of when the magic just started for me... Very nice! ;)

LOL - How could I forget we went with DS(3) and DD (2 weeks!!) that was 3 kids ago and we stayed at the Contemporary. :grouphug:

Every once in a while I'm having a fantastic day, just humming along, enjoying life wondering what I ever did to deserve such an awesome day....

....and then someone asks: Do you remember when the castle was a cake....

....and just like that it's over.

:lmao:

I live in complete denial that it ever happened.

It was a creative idea. I think the problem was the particular shade of pink. How could anything other that Pepto come to mind when you see it? :confused3

Wow, I am soooo surprised at the reactions this picture got. :rotfl2:

I thought it would be fun to remember some old things about Disney. :confused3

It was neat. Very creative. I loved it.

I agree completely. It was creative and very costly and always meant to be temporary. How many things do you see Disney do like that anymore. I found it humorous and whimsical. Everyone that saw it had to just say...wow!

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

While I can't say we loved it (did think it was rather "unique") your picture brings back wonderful memories!

I remember when we got to MK and DH didn't know they changed the castle. He looked at it and said "Holy cow, the castle is pink!!"

Unfortunately, I saw it in person too! What a disgrace. I don't understand why the castle and the geosphere have to be decorated at all! :scratchin

Went to HorseShoe Revue that year and one of the cowboy comedians said "hey did you here Cinderella moved out of the castle....Barbie kicked her out and painted it pink" the crowd roared!
