Well, you could "ride" it but it wasn't a ride, it was transportation. In WS, there was a double decker bus that I think went all the way from one end of WS to the other. I could swear I remember riding one, I'm pretty sure it was around 1989 (maybe I'm off a few years, or maybe I'm just plain "off"?) Does anyone else remember this?

We loved them. They made stops in World Showcase and provided an alternative to the boats.

:rolleyes2 You know I do remember this transportation. I believe it
was the first year that we went to WDW. Think that it was 1989.
Glad that I am not the only one that thought I was dreaming. :goodvibes

I remember these when I was a little kid. I can't even fathom them doing this nowadays with the parks being as crowded as they are. Plus, I can't even begin to imagine the legal troubles that this may cause (or did cause which possibly led to its removal...).

Those buses were great, not only for the ride but also the entertainment factor. Sitting in back of the bus driver trying to manuever thru the crowds was an experience in itself. They always had a few choice comments about some of the people in the crowd that wouldn't get out of the way (nothing un-disney, but quite hilarious).
My father and I would sit and go around and around just to hear the commentary. Luckily the drivers would only have to drive a couple times around before they were replaced with new drivers. I guess that was a nerve racking job.

I remember them from either '83 or '85. My mom got up on the top for us to take a picture of her and she was panicked that it was going to take off. Once we got home and looked at the pictures, we noticed there wasn't even a driver in the bus! :lmao: We still die laughing everytime we see that pictures and mom's face!

I never saw it in person, but the episodes of Family Matters where they went to WDW were on recently & the bus is featured there

Do people remember the Junkanoo buses from a few years ago, or are they still around? At least they were able to convert the old buses to some useful purpose.

I personally prefer a vehicle-free World Showcase, myself. Same goes for Main Street.

we have movies from our first trip in 1989 with us on them. I look at our old movies and it seems like a million years ago. WDW has definately changed along with us! I can't wait until my son gets older and sees how much it has changed!

I remember riding that bus on my first trip in August of 1990. It was a blast.

After the bus service was discontinued, the bus itself was used as a character caravan for many years. It would come out of WS and drop characters off between the two gift shops at the beginning of WS.

Those things were dangerous. I'd seen many a starry-eyed guest looking at something else, walk right in front of them and nearly get hit.

I was going to mention that I thought I remember seeing characters on those buses so I guess I actually do!

I remember riding the same thing right around 1980 I believe. We rode it around to the different areas and it was great sitting on top! I never saw or heard of anyone getting hurt due to the bus it's self, just them not paying attention to what they are doing! I really miss them.
