I stopped at Books-a-Million today and found they have Dick and Jane books! I HAD to buy the two hard cover books with quite a few stories in them. Sometimes I wish I were back in first grade...this should do it! :teeth:

OMG, I would love to have a Dick and Jane (don't forget Spot)...book! I haven't seen one in YEARS!! Those were my first school reading books....ah...memories

What a 'picture perfect' family life...I remember thay had one of those manual lawnmowers....

hey, could you scan a picture of one of the pages? That would be so cool!!! Thanks for bringing back old memories...of days gone by....

And Puff! Wasn't the kitty's name Puff??

Puff the orange striped kitty and Spot the cocker/springer spaniel.

Yes, I remember! :)

True classics... I guess we're all pretty old.

<font color=navy>:) Boy, that brought back memories of my old teacher, Mrs. Toeland...

See Spot Run

I remember the Red Book and the Blue Book, too.

cool -- so the memory's not gone after all ... just part of it ;)

Yep, remember them and I think I might have one or two also. Don't forget Alice and Puff too!

Keep those books in their plasic. You have no idea how much those things are worth especially now that they are making reproductions of them. My mother is a collector of them. One is good condition might be worth close to $100.

The other thing that I find interesting about the books was that everyone in the class could read those books. You didn't have as many reading problem with students as we do now. I teach a reading class and they use such hard names for characters that the students can't even get past the name. Nothing like Dick, Jane, sally, and Spot. Those were the good ole days.

We had Dick an Jane as well as a series called Janet and Mark. Simple like Dick and Jane but they were more fun and got into mor trouble. Anyone else use the "Janet and Mark" books?

Linda

I remember those books, but I can't think what ours were called. I know it wasn't Dick & Jane, but those two were in them tho.

I remember, they also did a movie tkae off in the 70,s with the same title, think it had George Segal in it,

Nowadays the kids are learning to read with the Bob books
