who read the book My Sister's Keeper?

I did read the book - twice! Even though though parts were sad (which I don't always go for) I thought it was an interesting ethics question and well-written.

So I read her new one, "Handle With Care." But I was much less impressed. Some of the themes seemed kind of recycled from the other one, and it actually made me wonder what issues the writer has with her own mom. (Not that that's any of my business.)

I'd watch the movie, but I'll probably wait for it to come out on cable - as it's not really one of the ones where it matters how big the screen is or how good the sound is, etc.

I had a really hard time with that book. I had to keep putting it down and coming back to it. I was actually reading it on the way down to WDW and finished it on the plane ride home. I was crying so hard that when the flight attendant passed by she asked if I was ok. :)

I don't think I could see the movie in the theater. Plus I'd like to hear what other people think first, because I get really annoyed when good books become bad movies.

Read the book. Can't see Cameron Diaz in the movie as the mom AT ALL! Won't see the movie...bad casting in my mind. Hate to hear they changed the end. It is a good exploration of a moral issue.

I've read every book by Jodi Picoult; she's my favorite author. I will not see the movie. I can't imagine Cameron Diaz in the part and I'm also trying to recover from the horrible movie version of The Pact, my fave Picoult novel.

I don't see how the can change the ending that was the biggest part of the book in my opinion

LOL! I never saw it but my sister said the same thing!

I read that originally Dakota and Elle Fanning were cast as the sisters and that is why Cameron Diaz was the mom- Elle is like, what 9 or 10, so they had to make mom younger. Then I heard Dakota refused to wear the bald wig so they were replaced with the current cast.

I read the book and will not see the movie, just as I have never seen a Nicholas Sparks movie. I am currently reading Handle With Care.

Oh my gosh - yes! I loved that book!!

For anyone who has not read it - and chooses to see the movie - I suggest that you then try to get your hands on the book.. So much is left out (and sometimes even changed) in the movie versions.. Great, great book!!

I read the book and I cried and cried. It would disappoint me if the ending is different. I think that ending is really what broke my heart in the book.

I agree about Cameron Diaz, I cannot picture her as the mother at all.

I haven't read it, but I'd like to eventually. My mother passed away last year from cancer, it's still too close for me.

I'm going to see the movie this weekend. This was the first Jodi Picoult book I read. I usually hate movies when I read the book first, so we'll see.

I read the book a couple of years ago. I loved it, but cried. Not sure if I want to see the movie in the theaters though, I'll probably wait til it comes out on DVD. I heard the ending is different, I'm interested in knowing what they changed.

I also read 19 minutes which was good, but sad. Tough subject matter. I did not like Handle with Care, I put it down half way.

I read both of those. I really like Jodi Picolut shocking endings.

I read the book and loved it. I hate when they completely change things around when they become movies. Why not make it the same? I usually end up liking the books better, if I read it first.

I agree with you. Even though the ending is sad, I think it's important to have. And it's what made the book even more shocking. I know I did not see that ending coming at all.

I hated the book. It was completely depressing to me. I will def. not be seeing the movie.

To each his own, just my opinion! :goodvibes

I read it...it was also my first Jodi Picoult book. I have not read a book in a long time and My Sister's Keeper got me back into reading. I read Nineteen Minutes and also thought it was tough subject matter. I read Vanishing Act which was good, but not as good as My Sister's Keeper or Nineteen Minutes. I ordered A Change of Heart and Plain Truth. DD read A Change of Heart and said it was really good.

I think I'll go see the movie with DD...I'm thinking I won't like it as much as the book because I usually like the books better than the movies, but we'll see.

Ok...so my niece and I are talking about who should have played the mom. Any ideas?

Wow, bad move for Dakota, I think. The girl was cast in that part (she's on "Medium") actually shaved her head!! I bet we'll be seeing more of her on the big screen!

I haven't read the book and the movie just looks sad. I just kind of want someone to tell me what happens, in both. LOL!
