Who qualifies for Government Rate at S/D?

Thanks for all the great info, everybody!

I know I'll be attending a conference in Orlando in July of 2006, but we don't want to stay at the hotel on Int'l Drive. I've got an AP, so I'm curious as to which discount would be cheaper?

I know we're talking about Dolphin and Swan, but has anybody tried using the Gov't rate w/ a Disney hotel?

And how long in advance do they let you know if it's eligible?

The Disney hotels offer no government rate, only a military discount.

My guess is Starwood offers the govt/teacher/nurses rate to allow the "little" people to stay at their hotel. There are lots of people in the private sector who pay for their employees to stay at the Swan/Dolphin for the various conventions. Govt. workers. etc., rarely get these opportunities.

DH is a municipal (local government) employee and we received the government rate of $99 last August for the Swan. We brought DH's paystub.

It's an awesome hotel. I will say that the Swan and Dolphin looked a lot busier than Disney hotels when we were there.

Disney has no such program for government employees.
