when they read negative threads about the airline they are travelling with :(
I read them and go into a panic and worry about if I have done the right thing :guilty:

I know what you mean, however all airlines will always generate mixed opinions.
We have always flown with Virgin and generally been very happy, but I am sure there are people who have been dissapointed in some respect.

I guess if you suffer delays of any sort then it's never a pleasant experience.

I hate flying, always will - but just try and ensure Josh is happy so that tends to help me , but because I love Florida so much I will just keep on going.

I'm not a big fan of flying and were only on the plane for 8-9 hours, just keep saying to myself "Florida, Florida, Fun Fun Fun!"

For every negative comment there will be plenty of positive ones, some people are pickier than others too. It is possible that passengers on the same flight will have different opinions of it. If it gets me there more or less on time and safely, I'm happy.

You've travelled with them before so be content that you have made a good choice.

If I'm perfectly honest, I'm not bothered!

We're all stuck in a giant pressurised can at 30,000 feet for 9 hours knowing that our holiday is waiting at the other end. As long as it gets us there in one piece I can live with most other things!

I always do !!. I booked with My travel and read the reviews and then panicked and upgraded to Premiar Class. :confused3

I keep thinking we would maybe better in Virgins ecom class.. oh well I am not going to change now.

I do panic, and sometiems it really upsets me.

But hey Im booked with who I am booked with cant change anything, and I wouldnt now anyway.

I have stopped reading those threads now I have learned my lesson

we booked with TCD last year and read loads of negative things most of the things said where true but exagerated a little bit and we still had a brill time

next year we are going with first choice and we booked the dining plan and we've heard so many negative things about that but half of them are just stupid comments. We no longer worry

I think you'll always hear the worst things, not the best. theres never a travel headline that reads 'Ten million people travelled safely and happily today', If it bleeds, it leads, so every one always concentrates on the negatives.
Charter flights are really upping their game now, they aren't the nightmare cattle-class carriers of a few years ago, they know their customers are more sophisticated, well travelled and fussier. I'm sure you'll be fine.

well I was really tempted by first choice..they seem to offer everything we need at less of the cost of virgin.
I also heard that MY travel are increasing the leg room and that all seats will have TVs..Not sure if its true though.

I wouldn't automatically assume that first choice are cheaper than virgin, I did a costing the other day for someone where they worked out £200 more! I haven't heard anything firm yet on whether mytravel willl upgrade their whole fleet I suspect it'll start off with just a few long haul craft from Gatwick.
I'll post when I know the details

we actually dont expect to much, our worst fear is delays because of our son. so if it wasn't for him I don't know if I would even have booked Premair. economy is a bit cramped but not to us the end of the world.

trying MY Travel Premair this July so time will tell. fancied trying FC but the times are to early for us both going out and return, again they would have been fine if we didn't have to think about our DS but it takes us hours to get him up and ready so that was another reason we picked MY Travel.

priced virgin Premair for next year and for the 6 of us £1800 MORE than MY Travel and that was Premair with MT. FC again departing early so MT was the best again. hopefully everything will be fine . last year was a bit of a nightmare but to be fair it was the check-in staff who put him in the middle (window side ) of a 3-3-3 configuration and try and put someone in there who cannot move was near impossible and upsetting but the cabin crew were nice and reported it and we didn't have the same problem on the way back. it was our first time in florida since our sons accident so we were apprehensive and niave to what we needed. this year we will explain more at checkin and hopefully get it sorted. plane starts off in Manchester to so was a bit worried the seat allocation would have been done more so for them and inturn affect us.

I guess it depends on alot of stuff who cheaper such as time of the year and discounts that are been offerd. I always get mt TA to get the cheapest price and at the time we booked it was Airtours as they had a free child place though when we upgraded we had to pay a full adult supplement for dd while FC child upgrade suppliments are less than an adults. Airtous then added charges to the changes we made even though the cost of the holiday increased by £1000.

DONT PANIC

The standards are getting better all the time and our expectations are getting higher, I would say in many years of traveling usally the problems are minor. The longest dealy I had was a Europe trip of four hours. Virgin are very good but with any organisation little errors occur.

But go with a positive mind to enjoy and you will, do not worry.

Agreed, many people on here want the cheapest airfare possible, yet yearn for First Class space, meals and service - it just doesn't happen.

Charters are generally cheap because they cram more people in than comfort would ever allow and charge for everything that you take for granted on a scheduled service (sometimes water, all other drinks, sometimes food, earphones etc) and give you a TINY baggage allowance.

If you use the charters, then be prepared for not very much space and take your own drinks and snacks on board with you (to keep costs down and ensure that you can eat what you like) :).

With any type of flying, but - in particular economy travel and charters - make sure you move around a bit on the aircraft AND look at taking a brisk walk and/or invigorating shower when you get to your destination. Will help refresh you and get your circulation going again (help reduce risk of DVT).

Don't worry too much. Be prepared (drinks, snacks, maybe your own entertainment - portable DVD player or music player), be realistic about space, but remember it's just the necessary journey to get to the fun bit :).

Be excited about your holiday, don't worry about getting there :)

Boo

Enjoy your holiday you deserve it, and hopefully no worries or problems, most of the posting is due to higher expecatations nowadays, we are more likly to complain and the companies do listen and act on problems.

I find the USA services from the UK far better than charter in Europe, usually leave on time and you can prebook seats etc.

after posting last night it must still have been in my subconsious because I dreamt we were delayed and Phil and Grant from Eastenders had to come and fly the plane home :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

think my worst fear is not getting seated together because of my DS especially since the flight starts in Manchester . does anybody know if you are in Premair class you automatically get seated together (I know you might get seperated by an aisle etc.)

I do not know about your flight company, but it always pays to turn up early, at the airport, if they have an evening check in the previous day or a website to book seats use that. Best of luck.

Enjoy Phil and Grant have it all sorted
