Who owns an Ipod... question...

if you want to copy music from cds you own, how can this be done so the artist, name, ect show up? My son tried and it just says track 1, 2, 3.

He wanted me to enquire

Are the CD's he's trying to upload burned CD's? If they are not the original disk, than it will not come up as the track title and artist. He is able to do that manually, though.

um, when I did it with legit (ie bought) cds, I just chose the CD in the list on the right, highlighted all of the songs, and dragged them to my library. It kept all the names and titles and everything.

Pull up the list of the songs the right click on "Get Info" then choose the "Info" tab and you can type in the name and artist.

Make sure you're connected to the net and go Advanced --> Get CD Track Names

I found that I had to be online to get the names to show up. It searches some database and then pulls up all the information. If I'm not online, I get the Track 1, 2, etc and have to input all the information by hand. It's easier to just be online, pop the disk in, it'll say it's searching some database and everything should pop up.

some time they don't burn the name to the orginal cds, if they are older cds they don't have names with the song, but newer ones they do, well some do. Like i bought a new cd a month a ago and the track names didn't show up and had to type them in my self.

I haven't really watched him transfer. I didn't know you could type in the names (I assume on your computer). It very well may be an older CD. He gets a lot of his cd's at a place called the MUSIC EXCHANGE... a place for used CDs
