Who out there doesn't bother with room requests????

The one we always make is non-smoking. At HH, we will request a room outside of the lodge adn 2nd floor. At WDW, the room location itself doesn't matter to us.

The balconies themselves are pitiful.

I'll agree if you are referring to the BW and the BC...our balconies at OKW and VB were wonderful...especially for drinking a cup of blue mountain before the inlaws woke up.

Traditionally our only requests beyond room type is smoking....however, I think we might start requesting the non-ant section if we plan on going to BCV ever again. :)

I don't make requests other than NS at OKW. I did request a BWV (just for the heck of it) for my only stay there and got it! I requested a marsh view at HH (at the suggestion of those on this board)for next spring and we'll see what happens.

I agree that by pinning your hopes on a specific room/view/location, you are only setting yourself up to be disappointed and start your vacation off on a bad foot. Over the next 39 yrs, I hope to stay in as many different rooms as possible, so maybe a good request would be "not the same as last time;)

Just the non-smoking request. I stopped faxing pre-DVC. I read of so many people getting wigged out over their "requests" have not been met.

We requestts non smoking medical reasons and an upper floor.

We always request non-smoking and first floor if we're at OKW or HH. We usually add marsh view to HH, but that's not vital. (The only thing I DON'T want is poolside during high season because of the traffic/noise; but I figure enough people probably have put in requesting pool view, that I don't have to worry about that!)

I agree, I don't go on vacation to worry that much about the room. Unless I have a dumpster view, I don't fret too much. ;)

Just out of curiousity, if you're going someplace OTHER than DVC, do you worry that much about your location?? (Whether it's WDW or not...) That's assuming that you sometimes take vacations OTHER than DVC, of course....

No, I do not worry about views as much at other vacation places since they tend to be smaller and the view "variety" is not as large nor as critical

Thanks

Oh, this thread has me freaked out because I WANT to be the spontaneous adventurer who feels that "each rooms has its own merits" and "its a surprise to see what you get," etc. In fact I am a neurotic overplanner and I had a nightmare a few nights back that I got the "dumpster view" room at the Wilderness Lodge and I was fighting to get moved to another room! Do I need to get a life or what?

We are stretching our DVC points like mad and going a lot of times this year. Because of this, some of the trips are budget-oriented and we DO spend a lot of time in the room. Thee, that sounds like a good story... I have allergies so we need NS. I have kids so I like a bathtub. And so on and so on -- I am a mess. Somebody stop me before I make another request!

colleen...you're being a bit rough on yourself there! We are going to VWL soon and I asked DW what she would think if we got the "dumpster view". She said..."who cares...they still have places to sit elsewhere at VWL, don't they?" Same response for the non-handicapped room request.

I'm just concerned to see anyone use the word "nightmare" and "room request" in the same thought. Too much stress in the world without letting our vacations add to our stress levels! :p

Granny, you are right-on. Such is the life of a chronic worrier. Sometimes I have to get tough with myself and say "Just Stop!" or my obsessing can get the best of me. Today, in your honor, I will begin work on a top-ten list of "great reasons to get the dumpster view."

Number one: You can just toss your bags of trash right over the balcony into the dumspter.

Number two: No chance of oversleeping when the "beepbeep" begins at 5am.

Number three: No one can outdo you. If they say "We are in GF concierge," you can say "Well I am in the famous WL dumpster room."

Anyone else?

Colleen, I certainly never meant to freak anybody out with this thread!!!

LOL - I love your top 10 list!

How's this one:

Number 4: After staying in the Dumpster room, moving on to All Star Sports during the cheerleading tournament will feel like an upgrade!

:bounce: :jester: :Pinkbounc :jester: :bounce:

Reason #5:

The chances of seeing wildlife (raccoons, etc.) from your balcony will increase as they will be looking for anything that might have missed the dumpster!

Hey I had that room - it was quiet 6 - I think it was a dedicated studio instead of a lock out - 7

also it was big - much bigger than the regular studio - had 2 closets not just one. 8

you got more exercise because of the long walk 9

give me a while I will come up with ten.

Mother was not on that trip or I would have gotten more than a little upset with the view. As it was I though posting here would keep other DVC members on this website from getting it - unless of course they wanted it.

Oh I though this was funny when I went last summer - guess what room was again offered to me - I say no thanks and got another room.

Yes when I stay at other places (the few times that happens) I immediate go look at the view - so far outside of WDW I have only found one view I hated and the resort had no problem changing it.

we are going to Williamsburg, Va staying at the Marriott Manor Club so I will tell you when I get back how I liked that view - but it is looking bad - because mother is worst I had to ask for a first floor close to the parking lot - so views are going to be a problem. On the good side my cat can go with us to see everything except the inside stuff. We have never been to Williamsburg, VA and I am already regretting it.

My main request is NON-SMOKING!! When stayiing at the Contemporary, we always requested a garden wing facing the water. Other than that, pot luck!!

Did I understand correctly that you actually take your cat on vacation with you????

My cats would be really miserable if I took them anywhere short term! Your cat must be very 'worldly'?

I'm kind of afraid to not make any requests...as the last time I was at VWL I requested non-smoking and a pool view. I got a smoking dumpster view (not really a dumpster...it was a laundry service area...only towels and sheets in it). I wasn't upset by that...I booked late and realize there are a lot of factors involved in room assignments. Someone has to take that room... But I'll admit that I'm afraid if I don't make any requests I'll always get the less desireable locations.

I do try to keep my requests simple...for the sanity of the room assignor. Non smoking unless we're traveling with smokers. At VWL, pool view. At BWV standard....room 4123 (otherwise I don't care...I just love that room), BWV preferred, boardwalk view, OKW, turtle pond area. I haven't made any requests for our stay at BCV besides non-smoking. We'll see how that goes...probably will get a road view! LOL
