Who loves their DVC membership?

I am a brand new member (I bought earlier this month) at AKV. I've noticed quite a few threads here with complaints about minor things relating to DVC. I'm not saying that some of these aren't legitimate complaints, but it's been sort of difficult to read so many criticisms right after buying DVC myself. So I thought I would see who is thrilled with their DVC membership. I've noticed lots of folks here owning at multiple resorts, so apparently they like it enough to add on. Feel free to tell me what you love specifically about DVC.

I'm new, but I'm thrilled to own at AKV! I just love, love, love the theme and the beautiful lobby. I can't wait for my first stay at "home" there in March 2008. I'm also looking forward to a soak in the whirlpool tub whenever we stay in a 1BR unit.

I am in the process of becoming a DVC member. I was the one that posted the "how has DVC changed" question a few weeks ago. I can tell you that I saw NOTHING in the posts that made uneasy--in fact, it was AFTER the responses that we called and bought DVC.
I have other timeshares, but I like DVC A LOT! The flexibility and ability to stay at more than just your home resort and stay in the exact size you need for the days you want is great. The banking and borrowing points really lets you custominze what you need for each trip, as well.
Plus, DVC does not charge a booking fee for DVC--other points timeshares charge $100 or so to book your stays--which, if you only go for 3-4 days, adds up--plus, a lot of places charge cleaning fee if you stay less than a week.
We stayed in very nice places off-site for 10 years and I thought I would never buy DVC--but after staying this summer and looking at the prices and the flexibility, well, we bought--and might add on more with AKV next year.
Also, do you know that last year AKL was rated the #4 resort/destination in the US for families by Travel & Leisure Magazine (and WL was #5)!! Enjoy your DVC--I know I will! Elaine

Our DVC membership has allowed us to travel to Disney World much more than if we did not have the membership. We love our membership!

been a member since 1993. DVC use to be at WDW the best. and that might be a problem. lots of us OKW (DVC then) got spoiled. Now yes it was nice and pretty wonderful. but hey over time everything changes.

you have a right to be proud of AKV it is (in my opinion) the best that DVC has done yet.

it is beautiful. Stayed there this Sept and going again this March!

We love our DVC membership, too, and as another poster mentioned, the flexibility with DVC is a definite bonus!

Count me with the DVC lovers. We go to Disney often for the different events, and particularly like the Flower and Garden and Christmas season. VB has made a beach vacation lover out of DH! (Our Cape May house comes with lots of maintenance projects, none of that in VB!)

DVC membership enables us to invite family and friends to come and enjoy the fun with us. We will have enough points to spend January+ in DVC accomodations when we are retired. (DSis has agreed to care for our DDoggies! )

If Disney keeps files of letters of praise, complaint, comments, my file has many many letters in it, and I keep coming back because I love the place. DVC accomodations are in my opinion lacking for a family of 5 (which my DS's family is) but we've adjusted to what is, and look forward to seeing/staying in the new AKV building.

I never thought we had a "big" family, until I realized we had to book a 2 BR as a family of 5! This is one reason we didn't buy into DVC earlier. Then I learned that you could book 5 (esp. if you had younger kids) into a 1 BR if you were a DVC member--but I wondered how long that would hold up and would we be "forced" into a 2 Br later--plus, my oldest might not want a sofa bed in later years!
THen, here comes AKV with the 5th person sleeper chair---now we can book a 1 BR and never have to worry about the "unofficial" rules changing for 5 in a 1 BR- and our older child can have her own bed with out sharing (as she does now) with the younger kids. That was the deal-maker for us!
ps--we stayed at SSR this summer, they could easily add a sleeper chair there, as well--there was plenty of room.

After our first trip ever to WDW in February 2006, we came home and bought into DVC. Since then we have made 2 more trips and have another in just 42 days!! We love DVC. We have only stayed at 2 resorts so far but are happy with both and look forward to trying out the others. The flexibility and comfort are exactly what we are looking for in a vacation, and we never feel like we are rushed to do anything because we know we're coming back at least once each year. Add in things like discounts on annual passes, merchandise, and food and DVC is definitely a hit with us! My only problem is that I am getting anxious to add on!

We bought our DVC in 2005 and we love it! (Oh, how I wish we had bought back in '92 when we first took the tour ) We've been able to take family and friends three times, and we look forward to many years of wonderful vacations with our children and (hopefully!) grandchildren. We've had 99 percent positive experiences with our DVC trips. I'm hoping for a CRV in the near future, and if that happens we're definitely adding on!

We've been members since January of 2000 and we love our DVC Membership. We've stayed in studios, one bedrooms and even a 2 bedroom when we invited family along. We've stayed at BWV (our home), VWL, OKW, BCV, VB and HH. We love the flexability that DVC offers. We may not use our DVC membership as others do as we stay weekends and even do long weekend trips. We've also used points for cruising. We've sailed on all the DVC Member Cruises and also did Member Homecoming. What is most important to me is that we have gotten great enjoyment out of our membership.

Is DVC right for everyone? Of course not. No on thing is. I just know it is right for us and it was one of the best purchases we've ever made.

We love our DVC membership! I now get four weeks a year to relax in a 1-BR villa that just so happens to be at Walt Disney World. And with the expansion of DVC, there will be more places for me to stay!

Having the amenities offered by DVC is wonderful.

You are experiencing a standard post-purchase reaction. It is not necessarily buyer's remorse, but it involves a heightened sensitivity to the product accentuated by a sense of finality. New car buyers who are otherwise happy with their purchase often notice (unhappily) that everybody seems to be driving the same car in the same color. Something similar sometimes happens with job changes and other major "purchases" (I even heard a colleague lump marriage into this category ).

In the case of DVC, you just happen to be more sensitive to the comments at this time. In a year, your thoughts will be colored by your own experience. In a way, this thread is no more representative of DVC than what you read elsewhere -- since you are soliciting only positive comments.

Well I definitely took all positve and negative comments into consideration before making my purchase. I personally hopped and posted on this thread because somedays it is downright depressing to read how unhappy people are with DVC. IMO those people will sell and move on. A year from now the honeymoon will be over and I will be probably complaining too

I've been a member since 1999 and still enjoy my trips to all the DVC resorts but especially the resorts located at WDW. I have been able to share trips with my family and friends (luckily didn't have the problems you will read about on these boards). I was able to reintroduce WDW to my DH in 2005, shortly after we had married. He hadn't been to WDW since going with his family in 1983! He has enjoyed our time there so much that for my birthday in 2005 he gave me 25 more points! Gotta love that man! He has also given me the go ahead to add points when (not if) they announce CRV. We leave in just a few days for his first trip to WDW during the holidays. That's what I love about DVC, each vacation is different even if the destination is the same.
