I have probably been in a Walmart about 5 times. I think it is one of the worst stores I have ever shopped in. The one by me is dirty and never seems to have cashiers at the checkout. I had a gift card that I had to use and once I found what I needed I could not wait to get out of there. Even my husband thought how bad the place was. The prices didn't seem very low. I really don't see the big draw to that place. I did see many kids in their pajamas and a couple with no shoes or socks. I think I will stick with Target!

Not me. I hate that dump. I don't know what's worse. The trashy store or the people that shop there. Note: I am talking about the closest one to me which is around 25 miles away. Not generalizing about all Walmarts but of course some will chime in that I have! LOL!

I prefer Target but will go to Wal-Mart if they have a sale on something I need.

You are correct in your response. That place is a dump!

Ours isn't trashy by any means, but it's still my least favorite place to shop. I do grocery shop there because the only other grocery store close by is Winn Dixie, and it's so much more expensive. But, for anything else, I go to Target, which actually isn't close by, but worth the drive in my opinion.

Can't say I enjoy shopping in Walmart but I do enjoy saving money. The one near me is brand new and very clean, so it is tolerable.
The Walmart near where I used to live was nasty, in which case paying a bit more at Target was preferable.

I don't like Walmart. Both here in Orlando and back in NJ where we used to live, I found them to be dirty and poorly run. Here in Orlando, the ones near me aren't safe. I love Target and find that the grocery prices are either the same or slightly better than Walmart.

Our local Wal-Mart is pretty bad. Long lines, stuff taken off the shelves and not returned to the point that it's hard to push a cart around, dirty store, etc. My sister says that the Wal-Mart near them is very different. I
m not going to make generalizations about the people who shop there, but I do prefer to go across the street to Target. I only show at Wal-Mart after I've looked everywhere else first. K-Mart is the store that I totally refuse to step foot in, assuming it's still even in business.

I will only shop there is there something Target doesn't have. I really, really don't like it. And DH hates it with a fiery hate.

Before moving to FL, I shopped at a Wal-Mart all the time - formula and diapers were cheaper there was DD was an infant, and it was only 5 min from my house, plus there was nothing else like that in the area for about 4 years when Target opened - but that was not so convenient. The store was clean, the employees were nice (and very consistent - many that worked there for years). Now that I live in Orlando, I HATE going to Wal-Mart. It is further away than Super Target - it is a Super Wal-Mart, congested, dirty - the prices on food are great - but not worth it. i went there last Sat at the pleading of DD, and couldn't wait to get out when they didn't have what she wanted!

A Wal-Mart Neighborhood market just opened up 1/2 mi from my house, and I checked it out the other evening. It was a nice store.

i LOVE our superwalmart-the food quality is wonderful, the products are all the same as i could purchase for twice as much at the safeway down the street (which has a much smaller selection and is far less clean).

i found it interesting that dateline's report of a week or so ago found superwalmart one of the top 2 for cleanliness and food handeling safety (safeway and albertson's were the 2 worst).

i don't like target-they never have enough sales people, and the quality of the merchandise (esp. woman's and children's clothing) is terrible (they carry for the most part stuff that falls apart fairly quickly or is poorly made-with the exception of their infant/toddler clothes which seem to hold up well).

I'm not sure they're safe anywhere. Read about stuff in their parking lots way more than other stores. DH won't let me go by myself to one. I also go to save money but prefer other places.

I love my Walmarts! :thumbsup2 After hearing so many negative things on these boards, I told the store manager how much I enjoyed shopping at their store. We have a Targets also but I only go there if something is on sale. I'm not on welfare or any of the other "yahoo" names Walmart shoppers' are called. Furthermore there are times I don't put the cart back in the corral just because I don't feel like it. :stir:

Fellow K-mart hater here!! I absolutely detest that store!!

Our Walmart Superstore is fairly new so it's still pretty clean. But the Walmart (not a superstore) that it replaced was absolutely gross!!

The rumor is that we're getting a Target Superstore next year. Oh, please let that rumor be true. I'm tired of driving into town to go to Target.

I LOVE Walmart. DS and I go almost every weekend - usually around 6:30/7 a.m. DS wears the Walmart brand diapers. And their prices on bottles, liners, etc. are much better. I LOVE Target too. It's much closer and newer. I probably go there more but I love both for different reasons.

Did you also see that Publix is the worse rated for food safety on that same show? They showed you two Publix in Florida that they tested. One is the one that the towncar services stop at because we were in it in December. I usually stop at Goodings but forgot to request it so we went to Publix. Thakfully I was only getting water and soda as the place is dirty.

Hi my name is Pea-n-Me and I am a WalMart shopper!

This thread is soooo funny to me, as I just recently did a 'rap' video about Walmart (I'm totally anti walmart) for a project in one of my classes last semester. Keep in mind, I'm 34, have no rhythm, and can't rap to save my life...but, the project got an A...lol

I'd post my email addy to send the video, but, if anyone wants to see the completed project, i'd be happy to send if you pm me (it's long and will take a while to d/l) so, instead, I'll just let you enjoy the lyrics to the song...lol

My Walmart Rap:

I was shoppin’ at Wal-mart the other day
When that little yellow dot started rollin prices away
I said “oh man, can you believe this luck?”
“I love this store cause I can save a buck!”

I got to thinkin’ about what I could save
If I started working there with the discount they gave
So I went to the counter and filled out an app
Wasn’t very long before they called me back

I went in for an interview and told the guy
“I got some questions for you, and please don’t lie”
I asked “so, what’s my starting pay?”
“Are there benefits, and what’s my copay?”

He looked at me as if I was nuts
Then he said “pay starts at around 8 Bucks”
“You get no healthcare, you’re just part-time”
“If we gave those things, we wouldn’t make a dime”

So I asked the guy “then why do people work here?”
“If the pay is low and no vacations each year?”
“Sounds to me like your company stinks”
Then the guy had the nerve to sit there and wink

He said “I’ll tell you, just sit right down”
“You see we are the largest business in town”
“We have team meetings each and every day”
“To make employees think we care what they say”
“They don’t realize we shut their future down”
“By driving small business right out of town”

I got up to leave and said “I’m outta here”
“This job offer sucks, this ain’t a career”

Later that night when sitting home alone
I decided to see where small business had gone
I pulled out my Dell and started surfin around
And I couldn’t believe all the info I found

Rubbermaid & Others cut their payrolls slim
To meet the demands of Wal-mart’s whims
Wal-Mart said “we ain’t payin’ that”
So companies complied and it shut em flat

Good payin’ jobs can’t be found no more
Cause all the jobs have moved across the shore
People over there will work for no pay
They’re lucky if they make a buck a day

The government’s let Wal-Mart continue to grow
Not carin’ ‘bout how many jobs they see go
Big corporations pay contributions in bribes
To look the other way and let small business die

Ray Bracy is Wal-Mart’s Vice Prez
And all the little peons just do what he says

After thinking’ ‘bout it for quite some time
I said “I won’t give Wal-Mart another dime”
“I guess the corporate giant is just outta luck”
“Cause it cost too much for me to save a buck”

Chorus:

Come and save with me
Wal-Mart’s prices just can’t be beat
Come and save with me
It keeps those people out there on the street

Our Wal-Mart is clean enough and I have no problem with shopping there. I prefer Target but Wal-Mart is fine with me.

To each their own.

I totally agree!

The Target here is N-A-S-T-Y, but the super Wal-Mart is clean and neat.
