Who knows where Fidelio is?

Michael is more excited about seeing Fidelio than anything else about the cruise. Amazing how a child can be so mesmerized by a person that they want to "be just like them" - in something other than sports!

Fidelio rules in my book! Everytime I hear and watch Michael play I thank him!

Oh yes, I think Fidelio may know he has a following, but if he doesn't then someone please clue him in. I know I will in August!

So Rae, I guess Michael will be wearing his Fidelio t-shirt on the August cruise??? I hope Fidelio is still on the Magic the end of August, I've heard so much about him, I can't wait to hear him play the piano.

Playing piano is only part of his entertainment - he has the crowd in the palm of his hand and keeps us going! Just incredibly wonderful entertainer and so darn funny!

I apologize for not posting earlier. I had difficulty getting onto this site from the ship.

First, Fidelio was FLOORED when he heard about this thread. He had not heard of the Disboards and his fan club. Since then, he has visited this site and promises to post (after he enters all of his information to log on). He asked me to let you all know that he is very flattered and touched by your enthusiasm.

Laura - had I posted about Fidelio's footwear, you would all have thought that I was pulling your leg about seeing him on the Magic. Fidelio wore cowboy boots most nights. When I asked him, he laughed and said that he usually wore recognizable shoes (on your last cruise, that would have been black sneakers with a white stripe across the top - like a keyboard). His newest footwear is a pair of dark gray sneakers with red waves. Very cool!

Regarding the fate of Dueling Pianos, there are no current plans to discontinue this show on the Wonder. So, if it is discontinued on the Magic after dry-dock, your favorite performers may be on the Wonder in the future. Secondly, Fidelio is still negotiating his current contract - he apologizes if he does not see all of you on your future cruises.

Thanks so much for the update and for carrying our concerns and enthusiam on your cruise with you. It is great to know that Fidleio now knows how much we all enjoy his talents. I sure hope he is there when we return so we can see him perform again.

Thanks for doing the detective work and relieving alot of minds. If Disney does monitor these boards at all they should have gotten a clue by now how popular Dueling Piano's is to it's passengers and to find a new home for them after dry dock.

I think all of the talent (DP guys, stage performers, CMs) on the Disney cruise ships is wonderful. It takes a lot of dedication, practice, and sweat to do what these people do so effortlessly! Thanks Greg for great memories and for helping Fidelio find this site!

Rae - why don't you have Michael practice something for the DP hosted kids talent show? That would be an awesome tribute to his inspiration (Fidelio).

I was thinking I want to be on the same cruise as Rae so I could see Michael and Fidelio play together and then your post pops up. Great minds ...... I hope Rae has a camera or better yet a video camera

I hope Fidelio is still on board when I cruise a few weeks later.

Michael is just conquering "Yankee Doodle"! Disney won't allow him to play their piano - and rightly so, the instrument is very personal and delicate - just for the "Master"!
When Michael earns the right to be there, he will - but for now, let Fidelio rock on!

Rae - they set up a keyboard for the talent show. I believe we saw 4 piano solos performed by the kids. Greg and Fidelio were very supportive and encouraged the kids to keep practicing! (I second that! - it all pays off in the end). So, for those of us not fortunate enough to be on the August 2nd cruise, we are looking forward to seeing a video clip of Michael performing "Yankee Doodle" at the DP family talent show.

You are the best...thanks for taking the time to let Fidelio know about us on the DISboards.
Yes.......he had on very noticeable footwear our cruise. Black and white sneakers is the correct answer. I wonder if he makes a stop in a certain port to purchase his *rock 'n roll* dancin' shoes?

OH...won't GARY be excited to know this info. Now if Gary has any piano playing talent???He just may make a great partner. Many of us know he can sing!!!

I am going to enlist Michael's very supportive, wonderful piano teacher to assist me in this endeavor! Michael says he is too shy but I don't think that is it - he might want to be "coaxed"!!

I'd like to bring my video camera along, but it's been ages since I used it - better brush up! Also, anyone have anything particular they want the Great One to do that maybe I could record?!

Of course, my list starts with -
Paradise by the Dashboard Light and Great Balls of Fire

So far the list looks great. I keep expecting the keyboard to give out during Great Balls of Fire.

I have an addition too.

The first night I saw Fidelio and what convinced me I would be in there every night that week was when he honored an older couple with a substitute to their request. I can't remember what they asked for but "The Great One" did a rendition of "IN THE MOOD" that was FANTASTIC. I never heard a piano version before and IT ROCKED! Even his partner (Chris) just sat back and let him go.


Did someone else mention something by Meatloaf earlier.

Thanks for thinking of me-YES!! *Paradise by the Dashboard Lights* will be perfect, but you have to do the part I did during Fidelio's rendition. You know the part *STOP RIGHT THERE!!*, you have to blurt it out like I did thinking I was "joining "Fidelio as background. Well, he stopped and I let it out with such enthusiasm the whole place had a good chuckle at my expense!
If there is music, I just can't keep still or keep my mouth shut!

You have 6 months to learn piano, or how about harmonica or something simple like that! I'll bet you could shake a mean tamborine!! Yes...the sun is finally shining here in Oak Ridge also!

I've also met Meat and what a great man!!! I don't know if a single Rae would have said "Stop"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will have to get him to do "In the Mood"!

Michael is definitely going to do the kids talent show now - both his piano teacher and I coaxed him to doing it. Didn't take much, so I know it wasn't because he is shy!!!

Thankfully my DH is a jewel because he will let me get wild and crazy and knows I'm loyal, faithful and have had my shots! (Notice I didn't say normal!!!)

I'm getting together a "gathering" for our August 2 cruise so we can meet "in force" for the Dueling Pianos - it's such a fantastic show. Very disappointed Disney isn't keeping it for the Magic.
