Who knew choking each other would earn us fastpasses?

Forgot to comment on it yesterday, but I love this picture! It's so different than anything you'd expect from a picture taken at Disney in Florida. Very unusual and pretty view of WL.

Hi Lisa, I'm usually just a lurker. Have read 2 of your trip reports. Have enjoyed them very much. But wanted to say how sad that your sister can't go with you. My sister lost her husband to prostate cancer in Sept 2010 and she is having a hard time. We are going to Disney in June and have tried to get her to go, but feels like she would be imposing and won't go.
But Lacey would probably rather have her aunt there for her wedding:thumbsup2.
Hope you all have a great time in May.:yay:

Hi! Found your TR and have read all of the installments. It sounds like you guys had a great time. Can't wait to hear more!

Good morning guys and gals! I hope that everybody had a good weekend. We did a little more wedding shopping Friday afternoon. Didn't buy much just some votive candles for the reception tables. They were on clearance for just $1.99 for a package of four. They aren't the plain votive candles either. They are the kind that start out one color and gradually change to another. They were the exact colors of her wedding.

Saturday was spent looking for little waisted/long legged Hunter some new jeans. He has thinned up and gotten so much taller over the last couple of months. Try finding a size 28/29 waist jean that has a 32 inch leg. :scared1: We searched all over the darn mall for jeans. Finally found a pair at Aeropostle for just $19.50 which was 1/2 off.

While we were going through store after store looking for jeans, I did find Hunter a pair of nice reversible Old Navy shorts for just $1.38, two t-shirts for $1.97 each and two button up shirts for $5.97 each. Oh, and I found John a button up shirt for $3.97.

In J.C. Penney, I bought Hunter two long sleeve shirts and four t-shirts (and I think something else) for $20 and some change.

Saturday night, we took Mama out to eat for her birthday. We had originally said we would eat at the new restaurant in town. I called and they said to be there at 5:00 or so and there would be very little wait. We got there at 4:55 and there were people sitting everywhere outside. The wait time? 2 hours! Ummmm, I don't think so! I don't even wait 2 hours to be seated at Disney's restaurants.

We called my sister who hadn't gotten there yet and told her we were going to see what the wait times were for three of the other nearby restaurants were. One was 45 minutes, one was an hour and one was "we can seat you right now". So, we ended up at Cracker Barrel. It wasn't really what we wanted but it was fine.

Last night, I made more backsacks for some fellow Disers. I have two left over that I haven't sold yet. Here are pictures for anybody who may be interested:

This one is a red and white stripped canvas material so it's a little thicker than the others. It's just $10.00.

Bubbles and Ariel. This one is just $11.00:

I have two more that I am almost finished with. I just have to put the grommets on and string them. One is a black and white flower print and the other is a pink, black and orange animal print.

I also bought the ribbon to finish the little girls dresses and I hope to have those pictures up tomorrow at the latest.

Ya'll don't work too hard today! I am going to come back in a bit and post replies and then write up our Hoop Dee Doo Review installment!

Looking at all your pictures is getting me very excited since we will be there around the same time frame this year (June 5th-11th). This will be the first time in the summer. I'm used to fall weather no heat and no rain. I need to see if I can figure out how to start a ticker. Can't wait to see how HDDR goes!

I don't know why we were so hot this year. Usually, we cope with the heat really well. I've already made a note to find our little small clip on mister fans to take with us.

Did you figure out how to make a ticker yet? It's super easy to do using the Tickers tab here on the Disboards.

Woah! I had a busy week, so I couldn't DIS much and I was WAY behind!

It sounds like you had a really special unplanned day at HS. I had seen some of the comments before I read your update and I was thinking... Is Hunter old enough to be a volunteer in the show? I didn't know the age.

That is totally cool that he got to do the show!

Ben really loves the Backlot Tour, the rest of us can pass. We were at the total opposite viewing of the show- you were there as it opened. In July, we literally arrived when they were pulling the chain across the entrance to the waiting area and we barely made it. The people a few steps behind us did not!

You definitely need to check out the Boneyard. It can get really hot there. My youngest is a dino lover, so it is fun to see him there. I have a hilarious inadvertant picture of Nate here when he was really tired. He is straddling a triceratops and unfortunately the picture is not fit to post on a family forum.

I think that rainstorm you described at CBR was just Disney's way to make you really feel like you were in Jamaica. Sounds just like a storm in the Caribbean.

May I borrow your "That's a wrap" picture for my trip report. I am an installment or two away from the end, and funny thing is, when I woke up this morning, I thought that's how I would like to end it. Then I saw your picture! I went through a period when I was "borrowing" photos from the DIS and putting them in my photo albums. Not a lot, but mostly decent shots taken inside rides since I don't use a flash when I am on attractions. Friends would get annoyed with me looking through the pictures. Is that yours? Is that one?

Sending you a PM about the brown and green backsack and an idiot button. I'm at 99% of my message space now (lots of Beach Club stuff), so I hope you don't mind using e-mail to contact me. I will try to clear a message or two if you prefer to work that way.

Dee

Of course you can use the "thats a wrap" picture". I don't mind it at all.

I've made a mental note that I must go into the Boneyard at AK. I have never even gone in there for some reason.

Goodness, I was PAGES behind! You've been so quick on the updates! Loving it!!! What a great way to start the day. :goodvibes

I'm trying to get this report finished so I can start a pre-trip report.

How AWESOME that your "16 year old" got chosen to be part of the Backlot Tour! I would love to do that sometime, get all that water splashed on me-what an experience!

He was so happy. I only wished that Mama had gotten up and gone with us so she could see him participate.

I see one in there! Lower left corner. The head is a gold coin and the ears are 2 silver ones.

I thought it was just me that thought that was a hidden Mickey! Now that you have said it too, I declare that it is!

I LOVE that you took Hunter to the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground! Do you by chance have the pics of him in there when he was 3? It would be so fun to compare! I hope to do the same with Henry when he is 13...though, I'm guessing by then it will be re-themed. :rotfl:

I told John that I needed to look through my older Disney pictures and find some of Hunter in the playground. I want to see how he has grown over the years.

This is my favorite because we call that "Henry's Slide" and you have done exactly what I want to do with him as he grows up. So, so sweet!!! And what a good son you have for humoring his Mom!

Hunter doesn't mind posing for most pictures. The only thing he wouldn't do was when I asked him to do his "bow chicka bow bow" dance in the middle of the street at Hollywood Studios. I even told him I would give him $5.00.

YES! I have been squeezed under there myself when it was raining! They are small!

I wish they would make the bus stop covers larger at HS!

All your CBR pics made me tell Joe this morning, "Next time we stay in a Mod, we are doing CBR!" And your lunch :faint: man! it looks delicious!!!

I think Henry would love the theme of the CBR. There are pirate rooms and Nemo rooms and the kids play area is pirate themed. Very cool!

Great Wilderness Lodge pics too! Did you go there just to check it out/shop? I looooooove the WL, just seeing your pics made me grin like a fool. We don't have anything like that around here (obviously!), and it's just so peaceful to me. I really look forward to staying there again someday.

The only reason we stopped at WL this trip was so that Mama could have a look around and see how pretty it was.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

See responses in red.

Lisa- I love your photos from the boat ride to WL. It's funny that you say it reminded you how much you didn't like to take the boat because it reminded me how much I DID like taking the boat to MK! :rotfl:

I don't really mind taking the boat over there it's just that the lodge doesn't impress us like most people. I think it's gorgeous but I don't think I'd want to stay there simply because a log structure isn't unique to us.

Forgot to comment on it yesterday, but I love this picture! It's so different than anything you'd expect from a picture taken at Disney in Florida. Very unusual and pretty view of WL.

Thank you!

So glad that you came out of lurkdom to post! I love hearing from other Disers.

I am sorry to hear about your sister's loss. I wish she would agree to go with you to Disney. I am sure that you don't feel at all like she was imposing.

I understand why my sister decided to forego the Disney trip. She and Lacey have a special bond and I know she doesn't want to miss the wedding.

I hope that you'll continue to post!

Hi! Found your TR and have read all of the installments. It sounds like you guys had a great time. Can't wait to hear more!

Welcome aboard! I hope that you'll continue to post your thoughts. I love hearing from other Disers.

As usual I love all the pictures, especially the ones of the seven seas area. So pretty there:cloud9:

Isn't it beautiful! I tried taking more pictures but the boat would rock some and the picture turned out blurry.

Just reading through your report and LOVE how much fun you guys all have! thanks for sharing!:rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks! We do have a fantastic time together.

Hi Lisa! I love, love, love the Wilderness Lodge!!! We always make sure we have an ADR for the Whispering Canyon! Yummy!!! It's such a beautiful resort! Would love to stay there someday! I can't wait to hear about the Hoop Dee Doo!! I have always wanted to try it! Hope it was good and fun!!!

BTW, how is the weather down there? It has been snowing like crazy here again! We just got 18 inches the other day. Getting another inch today. Tuesday into Wednesday we are suppose to get another "major" storm, but they don't know if it will be snow, a mix or rain! :scared1: I am so tired of winter, the cold and snow!!! Bring on Spring and Summer!!!! :cool1:

Yesterday, our high temp was 73! Yep, 73 in the last week of January. Can you believe it? Holy moley moo moo cows! 18 inches and more on the way?:guilty:

When I saw this (before reading the text) I thought he was acting like Donkey from Shrek! :rotfl:

I am anxiously awaiting HDDR! My plan is to go from AK to WL prior to our ADR. I want to see WL since I have a lot of friends that love it there! I want to see it in person.

We loved POR so hopefully you will enjoy your two nights there! I think we check in at POFQ the day you move to CBR...unless you have changed plans!

Oh my gosh! It does look like Donkey from Shrek.:lmao:

I hope to get my Hoop Dee Doo Review installment up today. We always have the best time when we go.

I hate that we'll miss you! I'm hoping that we can all do a Dis Meet while we're there.

After our tour of the Wilderness Lodge, we walked back down the wooden walkway towards the boat docks. We had plenty of time before we had to check-in for the dinner show so we weren't stressed when we saw that no boats were there. It was a nice pleasant evening which made the wait go by quickly. After about 15 minutes, the boat came, we boarded and we were on our way. In no time at all, we were at Ft. Wilderness:

SANY3650.jpg

My cellphone rang and it was my sister calling to check in with us. She said she had tried calling Mama's cellphone but it was turned off. Surprise! Surprise! NOT! I don't know why she does that. While Mama was talking, I walked around the outside of the Ft. Wilderness store and took pictures of the metal signs:

SANY3652.jpg

SANY3653.jpg

SANY3654.jpg

Once Mama was done chit-chatting, we went into the store to have a look around. On one of our previous visits, we had bought our nephew a coonskin cap. I knew that they had some "unique" and "different" items during our other trips there. However, not this time. I was disappointed that a lot of the merchandise was the Disney World/Disneyland generic stuff. I always like having resort specific merchandise.

It was nearing time to check-in for the Hoop so we meandered over to the hall. But, not before I took this picture:

SANY3655.jpg

We were asked if we wanted to take a picture with the Photopass Photographer. We passed this time around. We were all checked in and were directed to a line to stand in. Hunter spent his time arm wrestling his dad:

SANY3656.jpg

Soon, we were ushered into the hall and we were pleasantly surprised when we were seated at the second table from the front of the stage! We had never been seated that close before. But, we had never been in Category 1 seating either. Keep in mind, too, that we were attending the 9:00 p.m. show and most every guest was seating in the middle of the theater.

In no time at all, the food started coming out. Salad, cornbread and butter:

SANY3658.jpg

SANY3659.jpg

I took pictures of the theater while I was eating the delicious salad:

SANY3660.jpg

SANY3662.jpg

The music started and out came the performers!

SANY3664.jpg

SANY3665.jpg

SANY3667.jpg

Sometime during the performance, our server came around and asked if she could take the salad and bread. We told her yes. Had we wanted, she would have brought more for us or simply left them there.

The servers brought our the entrees. We got tickled because she set the entire bucket of ribs right in front of Mama:

SANY3668.jpg

Mama pretending she was about to chow down on the ribs:

SANY3669.jpg

We moved the food to the center of the table:

SANY3670.jpg

SANY3671.jpg

Everything was delicious with the exception of the beans. While they had a good flavor, they were a little on the hard side to us.

The performers started walking around in the audience asking if there were any guests celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. John held up his hand to tell them we were celebrating Hunter's birthday:

SANY3672.jpg

SANY3673.jpg

The comedian of the troupe kept telling her to give him a little "smoochy poo" which had the audience laughing. Instead she took this picture:

SANY3674.jpg

To which the comedian said, "that ain't no kiss" which led to this:

SANY3675.jpg

SANY3676.jpg

**Continued in next post

The show has some corny moments but it's fun and energetic:

SANY3677.jpg

SANY3679.jpg

SANY3680.jpg

Even the guests were included in the show with a little napkin twirling:

SANY3681.jpg

SANY3683.jpg

SANY3684.jpg

The comedian was absolutely hillarious! He would make all sorts of silly comments and funny faces. Hunter and John laughed so hard at him!

SANY3687.jpg

SANY3689.jpg

SANY3688.jpg

Then the performers started singing the strawberry shortcake song and out came the desserts:

SANY3692.jpg

Soon after dessert was served, the show was over. It was a riot and we had so much fun. I'm glad that we had decided to take Mama to see it. We stopped by the bathroom before going to the bus stop. There were buses waiting for the guests and a castmember waiting at the end of the walkway directing us where to go. Our bus was almost empty. There may have been a dozen guests going to the CBR.

***Up next: Our last day in the parks :sad1:

That's it - you've sold me on HDDR! It's always been at the top of my dinner shows list, but with that strawberry shortcake, you've sealted it! One of these trips I'll get there!! :thumbsup2

Boo to last day :(

Great Update! Looks like you guys had a good time at the Hoop-De-Doo, the pics of Hunter with the lady from the show were cute! I have been to see that show a couple times and it is always fun.

If you notice my new Ticker, we are planning a trip in early June  :yay: My MIL is calling AAA today to finalize everything as far as where we are staying, that is not fully decided yet (I know, nothing like waiting until last minute!!) We will be going with my MIL, my SIL/BIL (Tim's sis). We talked about a dinner show and have decided on the Spirit of Aloha show at the Poly. We talked about the Hoop-De-Doo but none of us have done the Luau so we wanted it to be new for everyone.

That looks like so much fun! I am putting this on our list for our next family trip!

just sent you a PM

great pictures from the Hoop Dee Doo! Hunter is too cute! love the smoochy results ;)
food looked yummy and that is good to know that they provide busses back to your resort.

Hello! Savanah'sMom
I have family in Lockport! My mom's family is from the area....;)

Wow, it really is a small world!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: (sorry couldn't help myself :lmao:) I love it down here. I watch the weather and say " there is no way I'd survive in that much cold and snow!" Do you have any relatives that graduated from CLHS around 97?

I almost had DH talked into it about ten years ago. Even had my parents on board to move along with us...but, DFIL had a bad stroke and heart attack so DH did not want to leave. We have not been back to CO in years, but have it on the agenda for a visit in 2012. Can't wait...what part are you from?

sorry Lisa seems I hi-jacked your PTR....

Looks like you'll had fun at HDDR. This became one of our must dos each trip by accident. On our second trip we had the luau booked and it was cancelled because of the weather and we had two extra dining credits. We tried every restaurant and the only available seating was the HDDR.
