we had capt henry on our cruise in 2000, and we had to dodge a hurricane, he was more than cordial and yet as serious as needed during some trying times. he got a lot of face time during meetings practically every day to explain the situation, but he was very calming to dw and me, and took some heat from other passengers very well.

I think we've sailed with every captain on DCL...Capt. John is my favorite, but I enjoy the others too. We have found them all to be very friendly and personable. We sailed with Captain Thor when he was staff captain and then again when he became a full-fledged captain...we actually have a little DCL ship signed by him in my DCL-themed bedroom. We have lots of photos of all the captains and they are all smiling

Captain Tom would never win a personality contest, for sure. But according to the presentation on board, he is the senior captain, and was the man sent to oversee the building of the Magic.
Must be more of a sailor than a host.

Captain Thor was our captain last week on the Magic. He is Norwegian and every bit the sailor. Not the most talkative person in the world, but quite hospitable. DH went to the Q&A session with Captain Thor and the ship's Chief Engineer, Gareth from Wales. Gareth, on the other hand, is as charming as they come.

We just thought Captain Tom was kind of shy. Imagine having to make small talk with 1000 different people! On formal night we were dressed pretty early, so we got our portraits done quickly. A crew officer came up and told us the Captain would be in front of the theater, soon. So we were the first, and only, waiting for him. The Captain and I couldn't figure out much to say, but DH and he had a long conversation about some WWII story about Norwegians blowing up heavy water facilities. Kept them occupied a long time. My DH found him quite warm and interesting. You just have to find a subject. His smile in our picture is quite nice.

I' gonna put my vote in for Captain Tom as my favorite. I've sailed with him twice. First time he was very chatty, especially when he found out that I was a repeat cruiser. Second time, he remembered me from the prior cruise and was interested in my opinions of the changes of the new menus, Cove Cafe and Diversions. (I hope I got the names right of the new cafe/bar). I usually stay on deck 2 midship, and it seemed that you would always bump into the Senior Officers in that area.

Seems like this Capt Thor is going to be the capt next week on the Magic, so how long has been a "full fledged captain"?
